New Pokemon Silhouette

,

Legendary Pokemon.net reports that Junichi Masuda (Gamefreak Director) visited the Japanese TV show "Pokemon Sunday" and revealed a new Pokemon silhouette! Pokemon Sunday is a popular place to reveal official Pokemon news. He said this Pokemon lives with many new Pokemon in a new area. This program is where they officially announced Heart Gold and Soul Silver. CoroCoro magazine says that this new Pokemon has something to do with the new movie "Phantom Champion Z" that is coming out. The news also reports that this Pokemon is appearing in the un-named new Pokemon RPG games coming out too.

Is this a new evolution of a current Pokemon, or a brand new one? what do you think?

Jirachi will be available on Diamond, Pearl, and Platinum Feb. 26 through March 13.

I hope some phones are ringing. I hope Reggie is about to take some names and kick some @$$. Super Dinosaur Planet is what some other Nintendo game would be like if it were a rip-off and ignored some sort of copyright rules...

Sonic the Hedgehog 4: Episode 1 coming to Wiiware

, , , ...

It has been confirmed... Sonic the Hedgehog 4: Episode One (formally known as Project Needlemouse) is coming to Wiiware this summer according to Gamespot! It will pick up right where Sonic and Knuckles left off and will be part one of a new story arc. When asked about visuals/Wii controls, Ken Balough says this in the interview:

GS: As far as gameplay goes, should we expect classic old-school Sonic 2D mechanics or something new added into the mix?
KB: All the Sonic favorites [are] here for sure! Spin dash, power sneakers, etc. But you will also see the homing attack added, and in true Sonic fashion, you can compete with your friends for the fastest level times through leaderboards.
GS: Will there be any differences between the different versions? That is, will the Wii have motion control, or will the PS3 and 360 run at 1080p?

KB: For all intents and purposes, the games are designed to be identical. There are a few differences per what each console can output visually: Wii will be at 480p, while the XBLA and PSN versions will run at 1080p. However, for certain areas of the game, the Wii will be able to use motion control, and the PS3 will be able to use the Sixaxis.

I dont know about you guys, but I am way excited for this. I haven't really been excited for a Sonic game in a while! I hope SEGA can pull it off and make a good Next-Gen Sonic game! To read the entire interview/preview, click here!

Scribblenauts: Can You Write 'Millionaire'?

, , , ...

It's nice to see a third-party game do this well on a Nintendo console. This time it is Scribblenauts, 5th Cell's innovative and ambitious game for the Nintendo DS, that achieves a blockbuster status: it has sold over a million copies.

WB Interactive gloated...I mean, reported... that they are very pleased with how well Scribblenauts has been received and how well it is doing in sales (and the 50+ awards it's received so far is not bad, either). Apparently, the game where you can materialize virtually anything you can write and is not copyrighted, has sold over one million units worldwide after its release in September '09.

We are extremely pleased with the sales of Scribblenauts and credit the game’s innovation and wide appeal in making it a hit with gamers of all skill levels. Scribblenauts is one of our strong original brands, and we look forward to bringing consumers more quality gaming experiences as part of our portfolio game strategy. - Martin Tremblay, President, Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment.

Sega to Publish Gladiator AD, Now Tournament of Legends

, , , ...

It appears that Sega has not had enough of High Voltage's developments and is now willing to invest into one more of their titles: Tournament of Legends.

Once pitched to investors and presented to the press as "Gladiator AD", the game created a lot of buzz at last year's E3 and then kinda went quiet (who could blame them after seeing the disappointing sales of once-the-most-awaited-for-game-for-the-Wii The Conduit). Well, it now resurfaced with Sega's announcement that it will be picking up the publishing rights to the game and is now calling it something different: "Tournament of Legends" (if you ask me, I liked the old name better).

With Tournament of Legends, we want to take the Wii weapon-based fighting to a bigger place. Along with a wide selection of blade weapons and animated magic attacks we've achieved rich graphical effects and detailed, epic characters with the Quantum 3 engine. The mythological characters are some of the biggest 3D playable characters on Wii. - Eric Nofsinger, High Voltage's COO

It seems that Sega is still betting on 'mature games' for the Wii and is not being let down by not-so-encouraging sales (The Conduit, MadWorld, House of the Dead...). The game is set to be released on May 18th in the US.

Best Buy and Wal-Mart: No More Used Games

, , ,

It started off last year as an attempt to get into the used-games market, and it now ends as a failed endeavor for both WalMart and Best Buy. Both companies have announced that their trade-in program is officially over.

The program, which consisted in being able to trade used games or videos for in-store credit and then selling such used games is no longer being supported at any of the companies' locations.

Operations of the program's kiosks were ran by E-Play (at both Wal-Mart and Best Buy), so it is actually THEM who are killing the trade-in program. Any kiosks at any of these two retailers are going to be shut down within the next three weeks. Both Best Buy and Wal-Mart have stated that they will not be pursuing any similar programs without E-Play (meaning they're really not that interested in trading in used games after all).

Deep Silver Vienna Closes Its Doors

, ,

Sad news today... Cursed Mountain developer Deep Silver Vienna has shut down, leaving its 20+ employees out of work.

Koch Media, its parent company, said that the decision to close the studio created by former Rockstar Vienna employees and later acquired by them was not an easy one to take (yeah, right!) and was due to the current economic situation.

Deep Silver employees will continue to receive payment until the end of March, but the studio has already been reported to have shut down its doors. Its latest project, Ride to Hell, is still going to be published next year and will continue to be developed at Koch's Munich headquarters. Cursed Mountain, a game that was praised by its atmosphere and hammered by its controls on the Wii (and ultimately didn't get as much marketing support nor subsequent sales) is also set to be released next week on PC, as planned.

You'll Be Able To Speak While You Hunt Monsters

, , , ...

Finally something Japanese gamers want and are not getting first. Capcom and Nintendo have announced that the western version of Monster Hunter Tri WILL support the use of Wii Speak.

The companies made the announcement this morning while also revealing that bundled versions, pretty much like the ones seen in Japan when the game originally came out, are going to be offered, with the addition of a Wii Speak bundle available as well.

So, while the Japanese version of Monster Hunter Tri only allowed 'chat' through pre-set messages and an USB keyboard, the European version (and presumably the US version as well) will now be allowing the use of the Wii Speak accessory, letting gamers shout at the TV for help from their online friends. The issue of whether the online service will be free or if its usage would incur in some sort of fee was not addressed.

N+ Banner February 2010: Miles Edgeworth Ace Attorney Investigations

, , ,

So this month is an exciting time for me. The new Edgeworth game finally comes out in the US! So what better banner to create then a Valentines Day themed one with Edgeworth and Oldbag! ^.^

This is my first attempt at drawings on the drawing tablet I recently bought. I am still playing around with it, but I think it turned out really good for my first try! Took less time to do since I didnt have to draw it in a sketchbook, then trace over everything with the pen tool in Illustrator. So I hope you all have a wonderful Valentines Day and a Great month of February!

And don't forget...Miles Edgeworth: Ace Attorney Investigations comes out February 16th in the US!

Rumor: Jirachi Gamestop Event

, , ,

According to Legendary Pokemon Dot Net Gamestops around the United States will be offering Jirachi via Mystery Gift. You can see it on the right side of the page under the events section. No information on for what games though. It is said to be offered from January 27th 2010 until February 3rd 2010. Heart Gold and Soul Silver so far are to be released on March 14th, so if this rumor is true it can't be for these games. It must be for Platinum and/or Diamond/Pearl.

Metroid: Other M Coming This Summer (Japan)

, , ,

Oh...my...God... Metroid: Other M, the Team-Ninja-developed game announced last year is finally getting a release time frame: Summer 2010.

The game was announced at last year's E3 and information has been scarce ever since (just like Zelda), but now, all of a sudden, Nintendo made an official webpage available and although it doesn't give out much info on the actual gameplay, it does reveal the expected release (deliciously near, by the way). But wait, the release date is for Japan only. Let's just hope the franchise's popularity outside the Land of the Rising Sun is enough to warrant a nearly-immediate international release. Keep your fingers crossed, please.

Visit this link to go to the official page. We'll let YOU do the speculating this time... Here's what the voice says in the intro:

That Dream -- it was like watching a playback of a tragedy that actually occurred.
