DnP: Catch them ALL! [+UPDATE]

Folks, I bring you good fruit from the knowledge tree! this is very delicious stuff. Everyone who gets in on the pokemon action better listen up, and Neeecole I know you are going to dig this.

Everyone who tries to catch them all sorta felt bad when we heard that we could trade all the old pokemon to DnP to finish our collections. We only felt bad because most of us 100% Legit players still havn't got them all in the GBA versions. I personally am only missing one event pokemon and it's Deoxys (If you have him let me know! I just wanna put him in my dex!) plus alot of regulars I gotta evolve.

ANYWAY - The delecious info I bring you will make all of us collectors happy, very happy. It should also make regular player who mainly go after the battles happy to, because of the ready variety.

The only pokemon you cannot capture in DnP are:
3 starters from each prior game + Evolutions of those starters
+ Legendairy Pokemon from those games! this means...

Ok, so this list looks a bit daunting but go ahead print a list and check the ones you already have off, better yet! post any of the ones you have in the comments section, later when DnP launches will make a forum topic for it. If between us all we can join forces we should be able to do this, The ones I have are Bold. The Italics are to signify that I recived it from a friend to fill my dex and was traded back, or it evolved. I have done this all owning only emerald, today actually I am picking up Leaf Green. Are U guys ready to friend code?

[+UPDATE] I just got my japanese Pearl and started playing, it is totaly awesome, and her in a day or two I will get a hands-on impression written in the DS forums...

it's sad....but i only have Leaf Green. And I don't have friends who started with Bulbasaur or Squirtle...

well mostely I DO own emerald, so all the regular legendairy guys are easy, plus my lil cuz got saph, so he traded me the starters and started over and picked a new guy each time. as for the super ultra rare guys? well, why don't you just check the photo gallery and tell me what was goin on, hehehe, yeah and the Gold n Silver dudes came via pokemon stadium. Ho-oh, Lugia, I got from the ticket that nintendo gave out to go to Navel rock.

i have to get emerald and ruby or sapphire soon.

ed won't let me. i think because it devoured my life when i got leaf green. i want all of them so bad tho.

do you have any shiney pokemon?

i didn't know i could get them until after i caught most of the legendaries. otherwise i would have a badass mewtwo. he was soooooo easy to catch. theres a glitch in emerald that lets you copy pokemon and items, so i'll be making masterballs for shiney pokemon only. can't help it, if i came across a shiney pokemon and wasn't able to catch it i would cry. alot.

That is one of the coolest ones to get.
I think that Ditto and Mew also have really awesome shiney colors.

How are we meant to get Gold/Silver Pokémon?

Let me get this straight: In Pokémon Diamond and Pearl you can get Pokémons from previous games transferred to them or something? Has it always been like this? Or what's going on?
I never played these games so I'm curious as I'm thinking of actually getting it...

pretty sure you can put your gba cart into the ds to upload, at least pokedex info... i cant confirm.

what we can confirm is that PalPark, is a place where you upload a copy of your gba pokemon into, and you have to re-catch them, with unlimited time and pokeballs! The pokemon you have are exact duplicates in pal park.

So if I want Pokémons not in Diamond and/or Pearl I will have to buy the earlier GBA versions and play those aswell?
I guess I have a lot of work to look forward to since I'm kind of a perfectionist and I want complete collections of whatever it is I'm collecting! p:

yes sir you got that. also on some paths, certain pokemon will appear if you have a gba game pack inserted.

okay...cool...which GBA game would be the wisest to get then? Because I can't be arsed to get them all (although that is the motto of Pokémon)

emerald offers the ability to get BOTH of the cover pokemon from ruby and saph, instead of one or the other, as well as a couple extra locations to recieve a few more pokemon. so out of those three emreald is an obvious choice.

however with fire-red leaf-green. its a 50/50

By the way there aren't restrictions or anything when playing it on a DS is there?

you can't use the multiplayer feature of GBA games on the DS. That is the only limitation. so trading to another gba cart is out of the question, as well as battling.

Well, I'll only be transferring from GBA to DS and I presume you can do that with all the Advance versions of Pokémon so I doubt any GBA to GBA transferring will be needed.
But what do I know? I'm a n00b when it comes to Pokémon, hehe p:
