Ed, what's up with all the Shooters?!

I'll tell you what. Dreamcast and Gamecube have been kept alive in Japan thanks to the undying love, and recent surge (in the past 2 years) in demand for arcade shooters; Last Hope is the most recent release. I myself still throw in Ikaruga for Gamecube (which went Double-Uranium on Dreamcast, see used for $99.90!) and rock the extinct Hori SNES style pad which you can still no longer smurf from Nintendo World.

That's mine on the right, see more teh piczz.

As always, new titles for today are + Dark Blue.

Arcade Shooters? Are those light gun controller games? If so, can you use the wiimote with them?

DotEd 16. January 2007, 04:55

arcade shooters are those types of coin-op games where you fly a ship/plane/etc vertically or horizontally through oncoming enemy ships in great numbers with large bosses at the ends of stages.

I see.

DotEd 16. January 2007, 04:57

.ed, while I was at Nworld, they werent selling the Hori pads anymore, I had to adventure into ChiTown 4 mine.

Would Gunstar Heros not be classed as arcade shooter?

DotEd 16. January 2007, 14:25

Captain: KAHN!N!!!

moirob: Sometimes people call Arcade Shooters "shooters," "Space Shooters," despite the fact that 1942 and 1943 were biplanes, and "Shoot 'em Ups" or "Shmups" for short. I think Gunstar Heroes is more of an action shooter, one because I don't recall it ever being in arcades, and two, you run and jump.

think zaxxon, xevious, raiden (a big one with many sequels), R-Type, etc...
