The Captain is Back

Whew! Sorry gals and guys, I was out for a while, and havn't been able to post too much. But now I'm back, and feelin' ready to set some new high scores! I noticed our numbers are shooting up fast! you guys are doing fantastic with The Challenge, but don't give up! I want to make this worth everyones while but I'm not exactly sure how to go through with my plan... See I made a super sweet T-Shirt design to somehow reward our Founders, but I have no idea how much it would cost to get 500 shirts made! AH! Anyway for a peek at the founder shirt go Here for the Black and white (cost effective) or you can check out the dreamy color version The names at the top right would all be placed on different areas, "N+" would go on the breast, while Nintendo, and Opera would both be on the sleeves, the main design is intended for the back of the shirt. REMEMBER: This is just an idea, I would love to realize this for you all though, if anyone who knows the know, can you fill me in on how to track 500 sizes and get 500 shirts printed the most affordable way possible? - Also what do you think? I can't believe I forgot to write the word "Founder" on there, It will be added to the shirt I promise! maybee just add the word "founder" underneath the "N+" on the breast.

Also I have added alot of my Nintendo collection to the Member Hardware Album! I think I have a pretty impressive lot of hardware, but what do you have? it isn't a "moderators hardware" album, We wanna see your booty to! bigeyes! well, er.. hehe, you see that's pirate talk actually,...hehe, it means treasure...

Siiiigh...ANYWAY! I also want to report that the Forums have been exploding lately! If you havn't tried 'em yet, now is the perfect time to test the waters, we do talk about some wacky stuff inside, as well as games of coarse, but theres somthing for everyone, and you can create your own new forum topics as well! don't be shy! Speaking of the Forums, "moderating" those things has been a breeze! you guys keep it really good! not a single flame war has erupted, and I have only had to delete maybee 2, 3 at most flooding posts.

I'm a screen printer, and getting 500 white t-shirts with a 1 color print isn't that bad. The more shirts you get the less the shirts cost a piece. The color one would be a 5 color, and would cost quite a bit more a shirt, but yet again being 500 shirts the price would go down considerably because setting up 5 colors for 500 shirts isn't that big of a deal.

I could get prices if you want come Monday. We ship all over the United States, but getting them overseas shouldn't be that big of a deal. It would be best to ship them to say .Ed in Philly and distribute them from there or anyone else who would be willing to do so. Shipping them around the world would cost more then the price of the shirts.

Also the more places you have to print on the more the cost goes up because the job has to be repeated for each of the locations. A left breast print (called a crest in the trade) and a back would have to be printed separately so it would be 1000 prints. Sleeves cost more than full prints even because of the difficulty of printing them. If I may suggest something you might do a long crest where the logos are all stacked on top of each other where the logos would go down the left side of the shirt, perhaps around 6-7 inches tall. That would reduce the amount of prints to two per shirt, convey the same amount of information, and reduce the cost quite a lot.

As for the hardware. I don't think I could get together all the Nintendo stuff I have (as most of it is buried in the attic), but once I get my HDMate video scaler from Gefen later this month I can show everyone how I have my current hardware set up... which is rather odd.

I just thought of a problem with this whole t-shirt thing (although I myself really want one). What about the large amount of members that aren't active on here? I was once one of those members, and considering that we don't have anyone's addresses, it'll be really difficult to distribute that many shirts without having at least a hundred just lying around until people finally check their Opera account and such.

Just some food for thought.

Taogun: Good thinking there, Well, I guess in that case we would have somthing like, "give us your address before we sign you up for a shirt", this way we could also cut down on the number of shirts, and the old members could always get back to us when they become active again, that and we could also put a limited time only, like "sign up before the end of 2 months from now for your shirt!" type situation

Khadgar: AWESOME! yeah that crest idea sounds great, so we will go with that idea, and if you could check all the availible pricing options, that would be Rhombus!

Yarr! Great T-Shirt designs Cap'n! And I am in awe of your hardware collection!

Dustin WilsonKhadgar Sunday, February 18, 2007 3:53:14 PM

Cap'n: I'm going to need to know how many shirts to print before I can give you a good price. Taogun is right, but it's more expensive per shirt to order smaller orders of shirts than there is to order 500 at one time. Twenty-four is the smallest order we can print and at least 48 is preferable and 100 is the smallest shirt order for anything other than a one color.

More information I'll need to know is if you want to go with 100% cotton or 50/50. 50/50 is much cheaper and lasts longer, actually, but for some people 100% is more comfortable. Using white shirts cuts costs considerably, but ash grey would satisfy more people, especially women who don't typically like white shirts. We would most likely have 500 50/50 white shirts in stock which surprisingly enough cuts costs yet again.

If you're planning on giving them away it's much cheaper on everyone purchasing to just order them at one time because the cost per shirt would be lower. If everyone will be purchasing their shirts then it wouldn't be that bad to order 250 and then another 250 later.

Hmmm, well I guess if you could give me a couple different qutes, using your best advice for ordering. I guess on my end, I would collect everyones data (adress and size) before a certain date, and then the shirts can no longer be ordered, like super exclusive or somthing. THat way I can order them all at once for cost. Other than that your best judgment for the print batch sizes, and can i get a couple different rough estimates on the 50/50 vs cotton. And I guess I can always throw a poll out to see what more people want if they are both affordable!
