Medical Breakthrough--Surgeons Improve Skills through Video Games!

,

And not necessarily by playing Trauma Center! I came across this recent study that reports surgeons who had recently played video games within days of operating made fewer errors during Laparoscopy surgery, which involves making teeny incisions in the body while watching the details on a TV screen. The article did not say, however, that playing the success medical game, Trauma Center, aided surgeons in any fashion--personally, I think it might hurt their performance in the OR! I mean, I'd probably find myself suturing my patients' wounds with giant, sloppy zig-zag stitches like I tend to do in the actual game!

I hear Monkey Ball is a favorite among doctors. no joke.

I hope they're not relying on that magical-star-making-time-so-down manoeuvre either - they might be a bit disappointed.
