Wii Shortage Ending?

, , , ,

I'm going to admit that as I got a Wii at launch, and have only been without Wii for a few days, it's hard to notice that there is a shortage. Sure, you read it about it all the time, but unless you're actually out there searching for one, you don't completely comprehend the situation.

I was enlightened yesterday when N+ member DrLaunch mentioned that he will not be getting his Wii until May, after months of waiting. It's good news for DrLaunch today, as he discovered that the shortage may be coming to an end.

A Nintendo spokesman has stated to GamesIndustry.biz that...
For the first three months of this year we have been producing one million hardware units per month. We are increasing the manufacturing capacity and forecast to ship 14 million in this fiscal year to our distributors and retail customers globally.

Is an end of the shortage in sight? Will Nintendo be able to conquer the demand? Will DrLaunch gets his Wii (Along with many, many other frustrated people out there)? Only time will tell, I guess...

You're good with dramatic writing, seaempty. :D

According to the store I ordered it from I might not be able to get my Wii before the end of may. But the Wii shortage is not only bad for the many people who want to get a Wii. It's bad for Nintendo because their market share will not grow as fast as it could.
I think Nintendo might have been able to beat Playstation 2 in sales if there were enough consoles. After all, Playstation 2 is selling more than Nintendo Wii at the moment.

Where I work it doesn't feel as much a sortage as it feels more of a demand, we get Wii shipments in all the time (except weekends) and it doesn't matter if we get 5 or 15 in, they ALL will sell within 45 minutes. It's nuts!

My store has huge demand and very little supply. We only get 3 Wiis every two or more weeks.

I feel the shortage is over, I managed to track down a Wii at two different stores to days in a row, no luck required. Unfortuately, due to the money shortage I have not purchased one yet.

The store I preordered from just informed me that the shipping will get delayed. Instead of the end of May, the Wii will be shipped in the middle of June!!! :yikes:

Grrr! :furious:  :faint:
