VirtuNAL Console Monday

WTF. WHERE IS MY GYROSTARR? Two WiiWare titles and one Virtual Console addition this week.

Virtual Console

NEW+ SAMURAI SHODOWN (NEOGEO, 1-2 players, Rated T for Teen-Animated Blood, Crude Humor, Violence, 900 Wii Points)

This first entry in the extremely popular and revolutionary fighting-game series was released in 1993. Choose from 12 swordsmen with highly individualistic characteristics and fight furiously, ultimately confronting the evil Amakusa Shiro Tokisada. Each character wields his or her own specific weapon, but you must be careful not to lose it during the heat of battle. Some of the fighters also bring an animal companion into the fray, offering a unique aspect to the quick-paced action. Another significant feature of the game is the anger gauge, which indicates the level of anger felt by each of the combatants as they suffer repeated injuries. If the anger reaches its maximum level, the attacking ability of the character increases, leading to even more intense confrontations. Through it all, the refined camera system smoothly zooms in and out of the playing field, presenting the frenzy of the battle while showcasing the lively background (watch as the referee scores hits). Awaken the samurai spirit within and get ready for a new kind of fight.

Aaaw, I miss Block Breaker Deluxe for my mobile :'( Alas, I got Boom Blox for my Wii, so I'd rather stick with that block mayhem...

Luther: Why do you capitalize the "L" in virtuNAl?

Joel Luther 17. June 2008, 17:59

To me, VirtuNAl (with a lowercase L) makes it look like VirtuNAI (with a capital i). Both work, but I just feel VirtuNAL is less confusing, although, come to think of it, it doesn't really make sense...

Geoff Girardin 17. June 2008, 20:01

L is better. It also matches the VirtuPAL updates.

Anton 18. June 2008, 04:29

G: but PAL stands for the PAL territories, where as NAL stands for absolutely nothing.

Joel Luther 18. June 2008, 14:01

Actually, NAL stands for National Agriculture Library. p:

Geoff Girardin 18. June 2008, 14:11

NAL stands for all my hopes and dreams.

Dustin Wilson 18. June 2008, 15:42

WHO CARES WHAT NAL STANDS FOR? STOP BICKERING AND GET TO POSTING NINTY NEWS OR I'LL BREAK MY FOOT OFF IN EACH OF YOUR ASSES.

Joel Luther 18. June 2008, 15:49

... PMS Khadgar?

Dustin Wilson 18. June 2008, 15:51

Yes. Pantone Matching System. Using one of those swatch books right now.

J. King 18. June 2008, 15:55

Khadgar doesn't get PMS; he instead gets RJS (Redneck Jackass Syndrome).

Joel Luther 18. June 2008, 16:02

I'm pretty sure that's a permanent condition for him...

Dustin Wilson 18. June 2008, 16:04

Yes. Get to work or I'll get Cap'n to sling Seagull poo at you.

Anton 18. June 2008, 20:57

oh its getting slung!
