Everybody Votes at N+

, , , ,

Last week we asked what you thought about Nintendo's press conference. In my opinion, it was total crap, but... with you guys, it was a pretty even split. 52% were satisfied with the conference, and 48% were not.

Earlier this week, Nintendo president Satoru Iwata admitted that their friend code system was not ideal. In this week's poll, we want to know what you think.

What do you think of the friend code system?

  • It's perfect, I love being anonymous.
  • It works fine, but it's not ideal.
  • It's horrible and needs a major overhaul.

As always, votes can be cast in the sidebar on the right, and you must be a member of N+ to vote. Feel free to comment on your choice below!

I think it should change to a universal fc system, so you don't have to add the same person multiple times.

Seems to me it would make more sense to go to a profile-based system, allowing for users to register a unique login ID that is either tied to the friend code somehow or replaces it altogether.

The current system isn't terrible. It's just too many numbers for most people to be bothered to remember, I think...

What? Nintendo admitting that they will need to look into the storage problem, and now admitting that the friend code system is broken (well, sort of)? What's next? The new Zelda will be out next month?

I wish it were just one code and if a certain friend happens to have the same game. You'll have the choice to add them to your friends list for that game. It would also make use of the system code that nobody really uses at all since the person most likely has a better way of communication on the pc, you know like AIM, Skype, MSN, IRC, email, etc.

i'd prefer a system where you have a usernam, like xbox live, and you can add friends by username AND system code. from there you can choose what games you want to share, and then with what friends. if your friend shares a game with your and you with them then ding, you can play/share content. it's not an impossibility, but it's not a simple change at all.

I'm with our fearless leader on the friend code system. I voted for a major overhaul because I don't believe just the friend code system is the problem. It's Nintendo WFC as a whole. The system is incapable of letting large amounts of people online for standard resolution games. Games with as high as moderate amounts of information that needs to be transferred in real time such as Smash Bros. Brawl brings the system to a crawl while players on Xbox Live and PSN are playing high definition games with quite a bit of information swap with very little or no lag brought on by server bottlenecks. Something needs to be done with their whole online gaming system.

Me too... I'd prefer a single username and then you choose which games to share with whom... Remembering a Wii Console Code and a Friend Code for each game is just too much! (I have enough with remembering my own phone number, thankyou...)
As for the system bottlenecking, I agree. It does need a MAJOR overhaul if they are to get into online gaming seriously (and with The Conduit coming, they should fix it FAST)

@Khadgar
Well brawl i allways having sevear lagging problems with brawl but with spectate mode i only noticed one very very slight lag & nothing else .
Some of that could be solved by bringing in a server for Australia instead of us aussies relieng on the european servers .
Well i nwould hate to know what the ping is like as i would assume it be shocking .

The problem will likely to get worse as more & more people getting there Wii's online .

But still theres the shop channel to download from (when i get more points :frown: )
