Mushroom Men - Update

, , , , , ,

Here is some new info about the new game(s) Mushroom Men.

Release dates are out:
Rise of the Fungi (DS) - October 14th, 2008
The Spore Wars (Wii) - November 11th, 2008 (My birthday! Oh my science!)

Both dates are for North America and there's no news on European release dates yet, so until announced otherwise let's hope/presume the European dates are the same (at least not later).

Read more after the break for a bit of info on game mechanics.

In Mushroom Men you are able to build your own weaponry out of everyday items.
Imagine a Mushroom wielding a sword made of toothpicks and dipped in chili for some added spice (ba-dam-tsch):

I shall smite thee with my Great Sword of Wooden Chili Prowess!

Ah, the possibilities!

Also, the game features magic called "Spore Powers".
Some of the things you can do are moving things (The Force is strong within this one!), control others and affect nature in various ways.

The enemies are quite varied. There are of course the opposing mushroom tribes, Amanitas, Morel and Lepiota but it doesn't stop there. Even cute little animals like Chihuahuas (we all know they're fierce beasts), rabbits (just use the Holy Hand Grenade of Antioch) and turtles are big, monstrous enemies in Mushroom Men. Plants like cacti have also been given life and act as some dangerously spikey foes (ouch).
There are many more enemies so visit the official game website to check them all out.

Anybody getting this/these games?
I know I am - fighting dangerous monsters with a chili-dipped toothpick is my life-long dream!

I can't freaking wait!
This seems like one of those games, other than using the conventional gaming medium "platforming," of such extreme unique nature it sticks out in mind forever.

Like Cubivore. MMM! YES!
