Everybody Votes at N+

, , , ,

It's been quite a while since we've held a weekly "Everybody Votes" poll here at N+. Last time, we asked which of the Animal Crossing games was your favorite. Out of 53 responses, 38% say they've never played any of the games, 23% chose the DS version, Wild World, 21% chose Animal Crossing: City Folk, and 9% chose the original GameCube game. 9% of respondents said they couldn't choose a favorite.

This week, we'd like to know if you rent video games.

Do you rent video games?
  • Yes, I get them from a local rental store
  • Yes, I subscribe to an online rental service
  • No, I buy all of my games

As always, votes can be cast in the sidebar on the right, and you must be a member of N+ to vote. Feel free to comment on your choice below!

Only place to rent around here is Blockbuster, they carry half a shelf worth of Wii games, and they all suck. It's not even worth my time to look at that section anymore.

I agree with G-Off... here, too, the only place to rent videogames is Blockbuster and most stores have really few games or really old ones... I chose "Yes, from a local store" because I do rent sometimes, especially to see if a game I want is really good enough to buy (remember, in my country we have to pay almost 30 bucks over US price); if I like it, I buy it, and if I don't, I just lose 4 bucks for the rental (yeah, Sonic werehog, I'm looking at you ¬.¬)

it isnt worth the time out of my schedule to travel, to a rental store and leave empty handed repeatedly to play a game when i barely have time and get it back to them - it's more cost effective for busy people to purchase games and if necessary sell them in large lots to friends, stores, or online.

that said, sites like gamefly seem to be made for the growing gamer audience as they get jobs, or as parents say "no im not driving you there again." but unfortunately the idea of paying for something monthly weather or not i play, even at a decently low price, is not conducive to my 'pick up and play immediately while i have time' attitude which attacks my wide game collection.

as games continue to have value added features like online multiplayer, replayability, and downloadable content my interest in renting will diminish even further. Especially the downloadable content (that you still have to pay for in some instances) - that must have game rental companies worried.

i do not know, but assume the business model works fine though, and is probably not hurting in the current economic situation as more parents try to spend less on entertainment in any way they can.

Nowhere near me rents video games so I buy all mine. Normally I go on a friends recommendation, rather than what the box says.

Gamefly is my friend.

I buy all my games, because paying for a game you don't get to keep is just no.
