The Beatles: Rock Band 09/09/09

, ,

Harmonix and MTV announced today the release date for the much anticipated Beatles game. The now-dubbed "The Beatles: Rock Band" will hit shelves on September 9th, 2009.

Although no further details on the actual gameplay or specific soundtrack, the game is said to cover The Beatle's entire career. Of course, there will also be special edition guitars, modeled after the ones played by Liverpool's Quartet.

As you might have already expected, the game will not be cheap. It will go at retail for US$60 if you buy just the game, US$99 for the guitars, and $250 for the premium bundle (although the game will be compatible with existing Rock Band peripherals).

BTW: Did you also notice the inverted 666 thing on the date? Since I'm not a fan of The Beatles and even less of Rock Band, I did wink

That might be the only thing that could convince me to buy Rock Band.

It's not compatible with a GHIII controller, though, is it?

Here's a very useful link from Joystiq: an instrument compatibility matrix. wink

As more info becomes available, I'm sure this table will be updated to include the new games.

There is no "invert 666" thing. It was chosen to be released on 9.9.09, because there are quite a few Beatles songs with the number 9 in their title.
Just wanted to clear that up.

Mahspoon: That's why I said that I noticed it because I'm NOT a fan of The Beatles p OF COURSE it's not the reason they chose that release date (at least I hope not), but any chance to make fun of, satirize, demine, or degrade this game is going to be taken by non-fans of the series and/or of the band itself (and since I'm a double non-fan, I WILL make fun of it wink )
