Happy 25th. US-Anniversary, Nintendo Entertainment System!

, , ,

October 18th., 1985... A day that shall go down in History...

OK, enough with the drama! The date HAS gone down in History; it is the day when the NES came out to the US market, so in a way, it also marks Super Mario's 25th. Anniversary in the land of cheeseburgers. In that spirit, here's a video Nintendo released for the 25 years of... Super Mario glicthes?!

Bonus points: Find the glitch in this post wink

Umm...nope, I have no problem moving it... o_O

The 'glitch' is in the posting, not the video wink

Is it the mispelling of "glitches", before the video?

SpookSpook81 Monday, October 18, 2010 6:28:03 PM

DING DING DING! We've got a winner! Yup, I realized I misspelled 'glitches' after I uploaded the post and I thought 'Oh, well... a glitch with my writing, how fitting...' p

So the 'glitch' WAS in the glitch p (although it qualifies more as a type-o rather than a glitch...)

So... you mean to tell me the period in the portion that says "marks Super Mario's 25th. Anniversary" is not the glitch? Hmm.....

SpookSpook81 Monday, October 18, 2010 10:09:02 PM

Aaaaaaah, the 'period' debacle... Some say it's wrong to punctuate it, some say it's OK (after all, 'th' is an abbreviation of sorts); at school I was taught to punctuate it, so I go with that rule... p

Angel ChaconNintendofanatic Monday, October 18, 2010 11:37:27 PM

Actually, 25th is just a short, number version of twenty-fifth, so there actually shouldn't be a period at the end.

But if you were taught to use a period, then, by all means, use it!

Mario, how I love thee. o

Happy 25th Birthday to Nintendo! partyheadbang

Admit it, games would've never been as fun or popular if it weren't for the glitches. I bet they inspired things like hidden rooms, etc. (Okay hidden rooms were around for about as long like in Zelda, etc), but I can imagine devs saying "wow, they've been trying to find all the glitches forever, let's give them something to find on purpose next time"; then you got bonus stages.

I used to sell this unit at the local toy store, along with SEGA. I even bought one before the summer ended. My first system was Pong, but the Intellivision by Mattel was my favorite. I never needed the Atari 2600 because all of my friends had it at their house. The classic NES was my third game unit. I have not had anything since this NES. I would like to get Xbox 360 or PS3, but usually I just play games on the PC or the Internet. I like casual games too! smurf party
