Zelda Universe Members Decipher Skyward Font

, ,

Rumor has it that that the text used within Skyward Sword is from a time even immemorial to the game's own events. However, nothing can stand in the way of modern Zelda fans. Just such people have deciphered the entire Skyward Sword alphabet, and have taken the liberty of translating words found within the game (not just signs). What's more, ZU member Sarinilli has even created a font that you can download to type your own Skyward messages. Here's a few snippets from Sarinilli's page:

It's finally here! The complete Skyward Sword Hylian Alphabet, and as a font to boot!

All characters are assigned accordingly, even J, Q and X which had previously eluded readability.

In light of Hyrule Historia claiming that the alphabet was "too ancient to translate", the small text in the Lanayru images in fact were hiding the full alphabet, right under our noses.

Q: Some of the letters are using the same character, is it supposed to be this way?

A: Yes. The alphabet used throughout the game has some of the characters doubling as more than one letter. The doubled ones are supposed to be that way, and are as follows:

D & W - E & K - G & Q - I & X - O & Z - P & T

And of course, the folks who've done all this work are calling for any additional text found within the game to translate, so if you want to see all of what's been translated so far or if you've found text elsewhere in the game, head over to Zelda Universe.
