Mario Kart 7 comes out on December 4th! That's only four days away, so to celebrate N+ is wearing a Mario Kart visual style this month. My design is obviously a play on the Speed Racer artwork, or マッハ Go Go Go, whichever title you prefer.
I guess there really isn't much left to explain here, oher than I tried to match this drawing up as closely to the original artwork as possible. My favorite addition to the design was also the last thing added, and was almost left out - The banana peel. In the original artwork you can clearly see Speeds' scarf flowing from his neck, and that's just something Mario doesn't have. I did the artwork without replacing this piece, and while it looked good without it, the image still felt empty. After getting everything prepared for the site, the banana peel idea hit me like a thunderbolt from Zeus! Now the work is complete!
If you want, you can check the N+ Design gallery for a wallpaper sized version of this months styling, GO MARIO GO!
At roughly midnight EST, Nintendo shared a Tweet with its followers that the Nintendo 3DS was being promoted in a Music Video by Justin Bieber.1 The video in question is Mariah Carey's All I Want for Christmas Is You, in which she also duets with him. The song is part of Bieber's new holiday album Under the Mistletoe. Despite promoting togetherness as being the most important aspect of the holiday season, the video features excited shoppers waiting to redeem their tickets into Macy's midnight opening while those inside excitedly roam around the aisles gleefully filling their carts with various products. At one point, Bieber notices a display of 3DS units and runs over, where he is greeted by shoppers who show off their own units to him. He then excitedly places one in his cart and grabs another before the scene changes to something else.

While some may question Nintendo's decision to make such a major marketing ploy this season, during which the 3DS will be almost unchallenged in handheld sales worldwide, major music productions by major artists filmed in major department stores seem like a never-miss way to show the world you mean business.
The "before the end of november" 3DS update we have all been waiting for will keep us waiting until December 8th says Slash Gear. The update that is supposed to bring us 3D video recording, extra Mii Plaza puzzles & quests, a system transfer option, playable demos, and a DLC structure has been pushed back because the update is still in the last stages of "internal testing".
Well I guess it's not that bad, Mario Land 3D came out and that's been giving the hand held some much needed hands-on for many people. If you don't have it and want to know if it's something your parents are getting you for X-mas, just tell them you saved up all your allowance and are going to go buy it today! Kids, remember lying is one trick that never gets old
Welcome to the second banner of the month... the Skyward Sword! I worked on this one alittle bit after Halloween. I tried to copy the paintbrush style of the Skyward Sword in this one! If you would like a wallpaper (which I think turned out AWESOME!) Be sure to get it here! Are all of you excited? Only 5 days left until the US release of Zelda!
Shigeru Miyamoto (宮本 茂) was born November 16, 1952 in Sonobe, Kyoto, Japan 59 years ago! Wahoo! Miyamoto, if somehow you don't know, is the man who pretty much shaped the true beginnings of modern video games with Donkey Kong and Mario Bros. He is like the Shakespeare of our industry I guess, it all comes back to him. Today at Nplus we want to thank Mr. Miyamoto for giving us all our favorite heroes and games, I must confess that even as a little guy playing brand new games like Super Mario World on SNES I would sit and watch the credits just to read his name! It's true!
Are you going to celebrate? how? what is your favorite Miyamoto franchise or favorite Miyamoto character?
Contrary to what we posted last week, it seems as though GameStop's Black Friday ad has made public the notion that North America will indeed be seeing The Legend of Zelda 25th Anniversary Limited Edition Nintendo 3DS. Scans uploaded to bfads.net show a unit with an identical exterior to the European version, but with different packaging.1 Ironically, this unit will go on sale on Black Friday, November 25th, the same day as the European version.
In a press release straight from Nintendo, the company reports that the Nintendo 3DS may indeed surpass the original DS's first year performance. After its recent efforts to improve sales and mend customer frustration, Nintendo reports that in its eighth month on the market the 3DS has surpassed 1.65 million units sold.1 Currently, the Nintendo DS is lauded as the best selling handheld worldwide and the second best selling platform overall, only surpassed by Sony's Playstation 2.2
Originally posted by press.nintendo.com:
The Nintendo DS system sold 2.37 million units in its first 12 months (November 2004-October 2005), with approximately 50 percent of those sales occurring in the holiday time frame. With its first holiday season and the launches of the Super Mario 3D Land™ and Mario Kart™ 7 games on the horizon, Nintendo 3DS is poised to eclipse that number and establish a new benchmark for hand-held gaming launches in the United States.
With many highly anticipated titles on the horizon worldwide, and more titles to come next year, Nintendo's looking nowhere but up as it charges ahead at full speed into the holiday season. For more sales figures from Nintendo, see our references.
Yeah, you heard correct! The special edition will be a Walmart exclusive sale, and on black friday you can get your very own blue Wii for $99. Dr Manhattan had to go through a hell of a lot more to get his, though fighting people at Walmart on black friday is pretty intense, you should still have an easier time acquiring one.
P.S. I'm sorry for the really outdated "we're over it already" Wii joke, but seriously when in am I ever going to get another chance at this? -source
You heard right, folks. Japan will be seeing a slew of special hardware bundles later this year, in addition to the new and/or limited edition units currently available. Some of these have a catch, though, so read on to find more information and to see if you can snag one of these delicious imports at a website near you
1Nintendo World Report has shared a recent announcement from Nintendo of Europe of a special The Legend of Zelda 25th Anniversary Limited Edition Nintendo 3DS. Essentially, it is a Cosmo Black 3DS with special golden patterns on it and gold coloring on the button letters and depth slider. The highlight at the register, however, is the included copy of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D. The sleeve on the game box is also reversible. The bundle is set to hit store shelves November 25th.
2Nintendo of Europe has also announced on their Nintendo 3DS page that it will be releasing two additional product bundles on November 18th and December 2nd, featuring Nintendogs + Cats and Super Mario 3D Land, respectively.
Nintendo announced earlier today through its press page1 that it will be visiting two dozen U.S. shopping malls this season, giving consumers an idea of what to expect in their stockings come Christmas day. There will be hands on demonstrations for upcoming or recently released 3DS titles, as well as games on the Wii and DS systems. Although the majority of titles exhibited will be Nintendo-published, games like Skylanders: Spyro's Adventure™ from Activision Publishing Inc. and Just Dance® 3 from Ubisoft will be shown off, as well.
The Nintendo mall program has been going on since 2006, the same year of the Wii's launch, which could help explain the huge successes of the Wii early in it's life-cycle. It could also play a crucial role in this year's sales figures, as well, but both points are pure speculation on my part. However, last year Nintendo estimates that it reached over 850,000 consumers through its mall program, so we can only wait and see what this season brings.
