Castlevania Wii is a ... 3D Fighter

This one gets a wut. Castlevania: Order of Ecclesia for DS looks awesome, and we've been waiting for an announcement on a Wii game. That announcement is here via the new Nintendo Power and it's ... strange to say the least.

No longer an action platformer, Castlevania: Judgement comes to the Wii as a 3D fighting game. Confirmed characters include Dracula, Simon, Alucard, Shanoa, and Maria (who is unlocked by DS-Wii connectivity). Gameplay mechanics include a final smash type maneuver, weapons like holy water, spells, daggers, and boomerangs, and Wii motion controls.

Igarashi hopes we'll be impressed with the game and thinks that it will stay true to the series. So far, I'm not impressed, and it doesn't look like it's staying true to the series...

Check after the break for two more scans.

Perhaps this could lure Sega or Namco into releasing a Soul Calibur or Virtua Fighter for the Wii.

...no Tekken. Tekken is not allowed.

...Tekken sucks.

Those games are good. But Tekken does not suck. Its quite good. I personally enjoy it.

Tekken so does not suck. It may be difficult to play, but it certainly does not suck. Also, the last few true fighters for the Wii weren't exactly great. Real fighting games are meant to be played with either the traditional controller or if your a true fighter fan, an arcade pad. Which has always been the best choice for fighting games since ever. I've played quite a few fighting games to know that. I have my doubts about this game, mainly because of the controller that will be used. Unless they give the option to use the classic controller or an arcade pad.

Castlevania fighter? Something is soooo wrong about that... It's like having a Mortal Kombat RPG (wait...there IS a Mortal Kombat RPG... and it's so bad they had to reduce it to a minigame addition to REAL Mortal Kombat games...)
