Everyone get ready for the 2009 Halloween Costume CoN+est! This year, we have decided to open up the rules a little bit to get more people in on the fun. Just some basic rule changes though. The biggest thing we have changed is to open this to all video game characters! I know, I know, this is a Nintendo blog, right? We just can't contain our nerdy selves when we see other nerds in video game garb. You wanna be Master Chief and compete against Waluigi and Wario? Do it, we dare you! Are you a Sackboy fan? We bet you can't go toe to toe with Infernape! Oh, and what if you don't wanna dress up, but your puppy or kitty does?! DO IT! I swear if I see a pug dressed up as a Shy-Guy, I might die crying out of laughter! Oh, and the animals are allowed to pick any game character too. However, due to the complex nature of PC and Mac related characters and what IS or IS NOT related to the "game-machine" we will not be able to accept any characters from these "consoles". As you know, we also take costumes related to machines themselves (one very close runner up dressed as a Wii-Remote, another dude dressed as an item box from Mario), so items and physical real life relations count - just not from computers. Sorry guys a USB Keyboard costume is not up for entry (however we will still show the photos
).So yeah, all you fans who wanted to go as a Sony, Xbox, or old time Sega exclusive can enter this year, and so can your pets! Just remember this, if you enter as a team, you win as a team - no triple prizes Pikmin Team! Enter together or as rivals!
Prize Update: 2,000 Wii Ware/Virtual Console point download for the winner! How it works - the winner and myself will exchange Wii friend codes, the winner will let me know which download he or she would like that is either 2,000 Wii Points or less, and I will "Gift" the download to your console! pretty sweet right?

- You can upload as many photos as you like to your own gallery!
- At least one picture of you holding a sign that reads "N+ Costume Contest" (purely for verification)
- One costume per entrant.
- Costumes can be submitted as a group for one entry! if a couple wanted to be Mario and Peach together as one entry thats cool, or Wii remote (human) with Nunchuck(dog)!
- Relatives and friends can help build.
- No bought costumes. Pieces can be bought and altered, like a toy sword that is turned into the Master Sword.
- Photos from entrants must be received before or on November 7 (Pacific Time).
- Send Captain Seagull a link to your photos, he will share this link with the other mods for judging. The best option is to use your own photo gallery in your personal profile.
- Photos arriving late, without "N+ Sign", or in a costume that isn't game related may still be put on display on N+ but are not eligible for prizes (you CAN enter a batch of awesome-pose pictures without "N+ Sign" as long as they come with the one "verification" picture).
- This year our gallery will be open from the start! We hope it inspires you to get a fresh costume together (or pet costume)! Submit photos of your video game related pumpkins too! they are not officially up for any prizes, but maybe we will change our minds or something.
- Entrants MUST be members of N+. Join Now! it's FREE!
- Entrants must provide the name of Character from name of Game from name of Video Game System (Example 1)
- Costumes from computer games are not eligble for winning but may still be displayed on N+.(Example 2)
- Video game "stuff" costumes are OK. (Example 3)
- Games that are confirmed but not out yet are OK. (Example 4)
- If your character is on a video game system AND on a computer system (like The Sims for example) you are free to choose ANY of that characters outfits, even if the outfit you choose is NOT on the console or handheld system. If you do this make sure you follow Example 5 to submit entry.
- Original costume ideas for known video game characters are acceptable (Example 6), be sure to send a message with your idea to Captain Seagull to approve or deny this request. The idea MUST be approved for this entry.
Example 2: Orc from World of Warcraft from Computer
Example 3: The Wii Remote from Nintendo Wii System
Example 4: Nathan Copeland from No More Heroes 2 from Wii
Example 5: A Sim from Sims - in a computer only outfit - character found on DS (Urbz)
Example 6: Solid Snake - in original zombie style - character found in Metal Gear series on Playstation.

Entrants under 18 must receive parental approval to submit photos, and address for claiming prize. Submitting any pictures to this contest will be posted on the N+/MyOpera sites. N+/MyOpera is not responsible for any photos submitted. By submitting photos you acknowledge that you are at least 18 years of age or older, or have permission from your legal guardian to participate. Prize-games (if offered) cannot be rated M, any physical prizes will require the winner to submit a personal mailing address for delivery (NO POBOX's please). Winners who do not wish to claim prizes or wish to not submit addresses may still win the contest, but will forfeit the prize.
