I've been bored with 3D games for ages. Hell, even today 2D games are 3D in origin. It doesn't mean I don't enjoy some 3D games, but just look at how big retro gaming is today. 99.9% of the time a 2D game is more fun. The only Nintendo game to break this mold has been Wario Land: Shake It. The game sucked. It had great potential. If Nintendo had just created a great game in the mold of the original Wario Land in that amazing hand-drawn style the game would have been a hit. There was nothing entertaining or challenging about the game. Instead they played on the new control scheme, thinking shaking the remote like you would a juice bottle before you drank it would be something fun. Every level was the same. Meh.
Now. Do something in a similar 2D hand-drawn style to Mario, and make it a full-on classic style Mario game... you get this:
It's probably a good thing, then, that Sonic is returning to his roots. In a title codenamed Project Needlemouse, the Blue Blur will return to his 2D home. The teaser video above also mentions HD graphics, but that shouldn't disqualify Wii just yet - we wouldn't be surprised to see a downgraded version for Nintendo's console.
We'll keep you updated as the game's 2010 release date draws nearer.
When you close it with a page open, then open it that page automagically opens? On the program toolbar go through: Opera > Settings > Preferences. In the "General" tab, you will see "Startup". Select how you want that to operate ;)
