E3 has become a staple in gaming culture, evolving from a small convention where the gaming industry shows off their stuff to the press to a big convention where the old American practice of showboating and shock and awe takes center stage. Anything but a shocking presentation is considered subpar. Yesterday Nintendo delivered a presentation at E3: the one everyone waits for. Nintendo-- yesterday-- announced Animal Crossing: City Folk with Wii Speak (which we need to do something on), Wii Music, and Wii Sports Resort while showing off the new Wii Motion Plus they announced the day prior to the presentation. This year the common consensus is that the presentation and what was presented for the most part was garbage, and I can say that I agree.

If life were an endless vacation, what would you do? Go fishing, collect shells or watch fireworks with friends? Build a snowman, exchange presents with family or decorate your house for the holidays? Take a trip to the city, go on a shopping spree or visit friends from all over the globe? In Animal Crossing: City Folk, life moves at a relaxed pace, but the world brims with endless possibilities.
There's always something new to do. In the living, breathing world of Animal Crossing: City Folk, days and seasons pass in real time, so there's always something to discover. Catch fireflies in the summer, go trick-or-treating on Halloween or hunt for eggs on Bunny Day. If you're in the mood for something a little faster paced, take a bus to a new urban city area that's unique to Animal Crossing: City Folk. There you can catch a show at the theater or check out the sales at Gracie's boutique. But if you don't show your face back home for too long, your neighbors will miss you.
Up to four people from your household can live and work together to build the perfect town. Design clothes and patterns, write letters and post messages on the bulletin board for each other, or invite up to three friends to visit your town using Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection. With the new WiiSpeak microphone, it's like you're all in the same room. The microphone sits atop the sensor bar and picks up the conversation of everyone in the room to encourage a more inclusive experience.
Get to know your neighbors. The heart of Animal Crossing: City Folk is building relationships with the animals in your town as well as with other players. Befriend your animal neighbors by exchanging letters, gifts and favors. Animals can also move from town to town, bringing their memories and stories from their old towns with them. And since animals are notoriously loose-lipped, they spill all the juicy details.
Express your personal style. Customize your town, your house and yourself by collecting bugs, fish, fossils, art, furniture, clothes and accessories. You can also go to the salon in the city to change your hairstyle and get a Mii™ makeover. Plus, if you design clothes in the tailor's shop, animals will wear them and maybe even bring them to other towns.
Also of note is that the WiiSpeak accessory will be sold separately for $29.99.
Screenshots and video can be found after the break. Imagine 'Stuff teh Weasel' on Wii ... with voice chat! Win!

I want to kill DailyMotion after what I went through to get this video uploaded...
Create a musical masterpiece with up to four players. Anyone can play the huge selection of instruments in Wii Music with simple motions-like strumming and drumming.
It's easy to play improv jams. Musicians in your band jam by simply playing their instruments to the beat of a song or by improvising to their heart's content. Play faster. Play slower. Skip a beat, or throw in 10 more. No matter what you do, Wii Music automatically transforms your improv stylings into great music. There are no mistakes-just playing for the pure joy of playing.
Wii controls immerse you in the music. You can play most of the 60-plus instruments in Wii Music using simple motions with the Wii Remote and Nunchuk controllers. Strum to play guitar, banjo and sitar. Drum to play jazz drums, congas and marching drums. Hammer away to play piano, vibraphone and marimba. Unlike most music games, Wii Music doesn't make you use complex buttons. You only need to imitate playing the instrument.
Wii Music offers virtually endless ways to make music. You choose the song and instruments and decide whether to blaze through a rock take on classical songs, put a jazzy spin on folk tunes or transform Nintendo classics like the Super Mario Bros.® theme into Latin-flavored numbers. The song list is only a takeoff point-it's how you improvise with the songs that matters.
Send your band-jam recordings to Wii Friends who have Wii Music. They'll see your Mii™ band members, your players' improv styles and your instrument selections. They can watch your recordings, or play over parts of your song, then send their modified recording back to you. Improv jams can be sent back and forth over WiiConnect24 and changed again and again.
The full fact sheet, along with a trailer and screenshots, can be found after the break.

At the E3 Media & Business Summit today, Nintendo unveiled an enhancement for its iconic Wii Remote™ controller and new games that promise to further enrich and engage players around the world. These offerings build on Nintendo's ongoing efforts to remove the barriers between expert and novice video game players, an approach that has been instrumental in creating a paradigm shift for the industry since the advent of the Nintendo DS™ portable system and the Wii™ home console.
"Much has been reported about the 'expanded audience' for games, but what's really at play is an expanded experience," said Cammie Dunaway, Nintendo of America's executive vice president of Sales & Marketing. "People of all ages having fun together-whether in the same room or from remote locations-puts smiles on faces and drives millions of new players into video game entertainment."
Wii Sports™ Resort is not just a simple sequel to one of the world's most popular console games, Wii Sports. It is the first title to make use of another Nintendo advance, the Wii MotionPlus accessory, which plugs into the base of the Wii Remote controller to provide an incredibly realistic motion experience. Scheduled for release in spring 2009, Wii Sports Resort includes new game experiences such as Sword Play, Power Cruising on a water scooter and Disc Dog, along with the new Wii MotionPlus accessory and Wii Remote Jacket at no additional cost. The Wii MotionPlus enhances precision and player immersion for the Nintendo-pioneered motion-controlled gaming trend that has drawn millions of new people to the world of video games.

E3, lutherjw, coverage, announcement

I just wanted to give everyone a heads up that
tomorrow (July 15) at noon (EST) (or, about 9 hours, 50 minutes, and 56 seconds from now according to the nifty little countdown CaptainSeagull set up) is Nintendo's E3 conference. Nintendo has once again rented the Kodak Theatre for the event, which was last used for Nintendo's
2006 conference, announcing and showcasing a ton of Wii titles.
We've also received word from Nintendo that NoA president Reggie Fils-Aime, game designer Shigeru Miyaoto, Nintendo president Satoru Iwata, and NoA marketing executives Cammie Dunaway and Denise Kaigler will be speaking at the event.
Because of the venue and the fact that Iwata is speaking, expect some
huge announcements tomorrow... that we'll be covering live, right here at N+!
Starting at noon EST,
CaptainSeagull will be providing up-to-the-minute text updates in a blog post on the N+ front page. Meanwhile,
G-off,
seaempty, and myself will also be providing live coverage of the conference and active discussion in an IRC format, right on the front page, through
CoverItLive.
Using two methods, we expect our E3 coverage to be easily accessbile for every user, wherever you are!
Any predictions about the show tomorrow? Leave them in the comments below.

Uh-oh. I can smell the fanboy backlash now. IGN's Matt Casamassina, who has been hyping Kid Icarus' appearance at E3 for several months now, just posted this on the IGN Insider boards:
Uh-oh. Looks like we’re going to have to wait a little longer than E3 to see the kid fly again. Not too long, though, hopefully.
After this and the Halo DS fiasco, I would hope Mr. Casamassina has learned his lesson...

Nintendo drops us a sneak preview of the newest peripheral, and it's an awesome one too! Wanna lightsaber battle, FOR REAL? Want a good Red Steel, where you can sword fight, FOR REAL? Well, OK maybe it's not THAT cool, but it's as close as anyone REALLY wants to get to that. Let's face it, we would all lose against a real Sith! The "Wii Motion +" snaps right onto the bottom of the Wii Remote and give a true 1:1 feedback of the motions the players arm goes through... let the slashing begin! or butter churning, whatever you like I guess. Oh and you CAN connect a nunchuck to this, also that is a new remote jacket.
Nintendo's upcoming Wii MotionPlus accessory for the revolutionary Wii Remote controller again redefines game control, by more quickly and accurately reflecting motions in a 3-D space. The Wii MotionPlus accessory attaches to the end of the Wii Remote and, combined with the accelerometer and the sensor bar, allows for more comprehensive tracking of a player’s arm position and orientation, providing players with an unmatched level of precision and immersion. Every slight movement players make with their wrist or arm is rendered identically in real time on the screen, providing a true 1:1 response in their game play. The Wii MotionPlus accessory reconfirms Nintendo’s commitment to making games intuitive and accessible for everyone. Nintendo will reveal more details about the Wii MotionPlus accessory and other topics Tuesday morning at its E3 media briefing.

animal crossing wii, announcement, rumor, E3

I have to say: E3 will be pretty boring if all of the surprise announcements are leaked a week before the conference...
British magazine NGamer has "confirmed" the appearance of Animal Crossing Wii (which is guaranteed anyway), Punch-Out!! Wii, and Disaster: Day of Crisis at Nintendo's E3 conference. Here's what they have to say in their latest issue:
And if all goes to plan (and our sources haven’t played a mean trick on us), that hands-on coverage will be of Animal Crossing and Punch-Out!! Wii, aka Nintendo’s great hopes for 2008.”
According to NGamer, Animal Crossing Wii has been finished for a while and is
not an MMO, although it will be very online heavy.
The magazine also states that Punch-Out!! Wii will use a Wii Sports-like control scheme for punching, and balance board controls for dodging and weaving. This rumor does seem believable, as Miyamoto hinted at a Punch-Out!! Wii title earlier this year.
NGamer also had the courage to "confirm" that Diaster: Day of Crisis would be shown and playable to E3 attendees. I sure hope so - I've been waiting for Disaster for a long time.
N+ will have as-it-happens news from E3 next Tuesday at noon (EST). Stay tuned!

The August issue of Official Nintendo Magazine in the UK featured the image to the right as a teaser for their September issue. The caption for the image reads: "It's Been A While! Time to revisit an old friend. How's your village doing these days?" The teaser also promises to bring us the biggest news from E3 - which is happening next week, by the way.
Obviously, the only natural conclusion that can be reached is that Animal Crossing Wii will be showcased by Nintendo at their E3 conference. Right? Right. Tom East, a staffer for Official Nintendo Magazine stated on his blog that:
…those of you who have read the new issue of Official Nintendo Magazine should already know that Animal Crossing Wii will be unveiled at the conference.
HECK YES. Expect full coverage of everything happening at E3 right here at N+.

With three huge titles being released in America within three months (Brawl in March, Mario Kart in April, and Wii Fit in May), many gamers have been wondering what's left for the rest of the year. With no plans for the second half of 2008 announced, it would seem that Nintendo doesn't have anything to offer.
Of course, they have plenty to offer; it just hasn't been announced yet. So, when will it be announced? Reggie Fils-Aime answered that question in an interview with Geoff Keighey, reminding us that E3 is coming up in July. Reggie stated that Nintendo's lineup for the entire second half of 2008 is going to be announced, with a big game coming for hardcore "gamers" this holiday season.
At last year's E3, Nintendo announced the Wii Zapper, Wii Wheel, and Wii Fit. They also announced release dates for Super Mario Galaxy, Metroid Prime 3, and Super Smash Bros. Brawl, though only Super Mario Galaxy's date was met. With such big announcements last year, what could top that? Let the speculation begin!

Mario. The iconic plumber FINALY makes his return to rescuing his princess. Now don't get me wrong, I love taking a trip to the Tennis courts, Basketball courts, and Boardgames that Mario journeys to on a daily basis, but I REALLY miss the magic that was Mario 64. Alot of you I am sure can agree with me right? I mean Mario Sunshine was neat, but it wasn't what we needed to blow us away. Thankfully Mr. Miyamoto can hear our cries in his dreams, it's some sort of magical gift the gods have granted him, because he has out-done himself this time. Mario Galaxy is looking gorgeous! and with a confirmed release date of
November 12 2007 for
North America, I couldn't be much happier. See I could be happier, if they said it was tomorrow, and free. But if you can't deliver it tomorrow at zero dollars, this is the next best thing!
