, , , ...

That soothing, familiar blue light in your Wii should be flashing by now (if it's online, of course) announcing that the Nintendo Channel has been updated and that some new features have been added to it. Here's an user-generated video showing a few of these new features.

N+ DSi

, , , ...

N+ moderators Khadgar and myself were lucky enough to receive two Nintendo DSi's with the Opera web browser preinstalled a few weeks back, and we've been putting them through some rigorous testing (literally - I dropped mine twice, and I never drop anything, so it must have been for science).

Over the next few weeks, we'll be posting daily on the DSi. We're going to cover EVERYTHING because it seems like no other blog did. Exclusive to N+ will be our unique coverage of the new DS Browser - because our DSi's (even though they are Japanese language versions) were sent to the sexy folks in Norway where they downloaded it for us from DSware before shipping to N+. This new version has obvious updates like no need for additional RAM, it becomes a 'channel' on the DSi home screen, and since it's software based there is potential for updates, like the Wii browser has seen (and will get again).

What we'll need from you is comments and feedback on what you want to see, so we get you the most interesting info. DSi compared to DS lite, in every way. New DS browser compared to Old DS browser, in every way. DSi compared to G.I. Joes, in every way. New DSi Browser compared to Opera Mini, iPhone, iPod touch, GBA, GameBoy Player, a cat named Skoo, etc., in every way.

So give us some work to do in the comments, tell us what you want to see, while we compile our data from the past weeks and we'll give you guys and girls something to read daily on the upcoming European and North American Nintendo DSi.

Also, follow @NPlus on twitter for kicky fast notifications of new posts or subscribe to our new N+ RSS Feed so we can get some stats to work with to better serve the community.

Blue Liight Special: Digicam Print Channel +Update

, , , ...

I'm moving to Japan.

Earlier today, Nintendo of Japan launched the "Digicam Print Channel" for Japanese Wii owners, which allows users to order prints of photos from their SD card for 30 yen each. Users can also order Wii-themed photo albums for 1,575 yen, and special Mario-themed photo albums for 2,480 yen.

Sure, all that's cool, but users can also now order business cards emblazoned with their Miis and system friend codes.

Will the Digicam Print Channel make its way to other countries? The Japanese press release seems to mention a worldwide relesae in the future. American Wiis received an update this morning, but no one knows what functionality it adds...

UPDATE:

Nintendo has sent word that the update for American Wiis added "behind-the-scenes support for a new service that has been released only in Japan." I'd say it's coming soon!

Mega Man 9 to Feature DLC, Cost $10

, , , ...

You've seen the announcement and scans and you've seen the first footage - what's next? How about some pricing and release date information?

... for Japan, at least. Back in SNES days, people would have been happy to pay at least $50 dollars for a new installment in the series. According to Famitsu, however, will sell on WiiWare for 1000 Wii Points, or $10 USD. Famitsu also mentions the game will see a September release in Japan, and we can only assume it's likely to release in America around that time as well.

Famitsu and Nintendo Power have now both suggested Mega Man 9 will feature downloadable content. Any ideas on what it will be? Let us know in the comments.

We have also received several new screenshots, which you can see after the break.

Super Mario RPG to Hit Japanese VC Friday

, , , ...

Somewhat ironically, a while back Super Mario RPG was rated/leaked by the OFLC. Since then, we've been waiting for any word on when the title will be released in North America or PAL regions. Unfortunately, we still don't have that news.

However, Nintendo of Japan announced that the game will hit their VC service this Friday, so it can't be long until it makes it way over here!

Gyrostarr Flies on to North American WiiWare Monday

, , , ...

High Voltage Software's awesome tube shooter was supposed to release with the launch of WiiWare, but it was delayed indefinitely. I've been complaining about it ever since.

High Voltage announced today that the game will finally be released on the WiiWare service on Monday, June 23. Several details of the game were announced in a press release, which you can read after the break. I highly recommend you check out the trailer below, and consider purchasing the game when it releases.

Check after the break for the press releases.

Blue Liight Special: Brick Your Wii!

, , , ...

Late Monday night your Wii's blue light should have flickered to your delight. With all your might... ah who cares any more.

Anyway, the Wii firmware was updated to version 3.3 on Monday, with the update citing a new feature in the Mii channel: the ability to drag and drop Miis from the Mii Plaza to the Mii Parade, allowing you to store more than 100 Miis.

The update also, somewhat stealthily, kills the Twilight hack, meaning if you don't have the Homebrew Channel installed already and want to run homebrew on your Wii, do that before updating. Fortunately, the update does not appear to disable/delete the Homebrew Channel if you already have it installed. It does, however, make the Wii Freeloader completely obsolete...

Bummer. Check after the break for the full message.

Virtu-PAL Console Friday

, , , ...

VirtuPalBanner2.png
This is a momentous day. Due to that fact that the VC updates in EU are now pretty much identical to all PAL regions, we are renaming this feature. Gone are Virt-Euro-L Console Fridays, and we now embrace Virtu-PAL Console Fridays! \o/ Embraaaaaaaaaaace!

OK...

Well there's no Wii Ware games this week, but we do have 3 new VC games for the PAL Console.

NEW+ Pokémon Puzzle League (N64 - 1000 Points)

Join Ash on a new type of Pokémon escapade. Enter Puzzle League Village and battle Trainers with your puzzling skills, clearing blocks from your screen and sending huge combo attacks to defeat your opponent. Challenge a friend in gripping two-player matches, train at Professor Oak’s Lab and even take on the mighty Team Rocket!

NEW+ Burning Fight (NEOGEO - 900 Points)

In side-scrolling brawler Burning Fight, American cops Duke and Billy team up with Japanese counterpart Ryu to take on the combined forces of crime gangs from the east and west. Battle through city streets using your martial arts skills, or smash obstacles to recover weapons and even the odds.

NEW+ Samurai Showdown (NEOGEO - 900 Points)

Clash swords with Japan's most fearsome samurai warriors in this classic arcade beat 'em up. Samurai Shodown raised the bar for weapons-based fighting games and was ported to multiple systems as a result. Now you can enjoy the NEOGEO original!

Pokeyman Puzzle League! Woooooooooo! What a cracking way to start Virtu-PAL Console Fridays!

PAL Nintendo Channel Is Live

, , , ...

If you live in a PAL region, you should today be greeted with The Mysterious Blue Light of Eerie Goodness telling you that the Nintendo Channel is ready to be downloaded.

Whilst there's not a lot on there at the moment (the DS Demos available are quite pathetic in my opinion), hopefully this'll be one of the more useful channels on the console.

So PAL People... what are your impressions?

NA WiiWare Update

, , , ...

Another two games this week, and still no Gyrostarr. I refuse to buy any WiiWare games until that comes out...

NEW+ Dr. Mario® Online Rx (Nintendo, 1-4 players, Rated E for Everyone, 1,000 Wii Points)

The doctor is in! Mario™ takes a break from his adventuring ways and once again dons his stethoscope for a new generation of germ-battling mayhem. In addition to the classic mode of using vitamins to exterminate viruses, you'll find two battle modes and an online multiplayer mode where you can hone your skills against players from around the world. Feel like challenging a friend who doesn't have Dr. Mario Online Rx? Then the WiiWare-exclusive Friend Battle Demo is just what the doctor ordered. Or maybe you'd like some help taking on those nasty viruses? Try out Virus Buster, where four players can simultaneously move capsules simply by pointing at them with a Wii Remote™ controller. Any way you look at it, Dr. Mario Online Rx is a prescription for fun that everyone can enjoy.

NEW+ Family Table Tennis (Aksys Games, 1-2 players, Rated E for Everyone, 500 Wii Points)

It's time for some good old family fun, and what's more fun than table tennis? Just like a real family, choose your character from a cast of four, which includes Daddy, Mommy, Sarah and Billy. There are four table tennis-tastic stages where it doesn't matter if you're an indoors or outdoors table-tennis player. Pick your poison from a gymnasium, a forest park, a beach or even an amusement park. Choose from Single or Versus mode, or select a minigame to play. In Versus mode, you and a friend can play against each other to see who is the better table-tennis player. And if Single and Versus modes aren't enough, select between three minigames, which include Target Table Tennis, Thrilling Table Tennis and Matching Table Tennis. The appealing cell-shaded graphics and endearing music, on top of the super-fun game play, will have you and your family playing from morning till night. Get your paddles ready.

Virt-Euro-L Console Friday

, , , ...

Only one game this week for the EUVC, and as its a C64 game, there's none for the AUVC :frown: That may change during the day, as there's no official announcement yet. There's no new Wii Ware games, but I guess as it was only launched on Tuesday that's understandable.

NEW+ Paradroid (C64 - 500 Points)

From Andrew Braybrook, maker of Uridium (also on Virtual Console), comes this unique C64 golden oldie. Beam aboard a space freighter and take control of all the crazed robots within, using your ‘Influence Device’ to do battle with their brains through a combination of shooting skills and strategy.
