2009, cosplay, seagull, costume contest
OK, we've now received all the photos for the Costume CoN+est 2009. There were some gallery problems on the servers, so it took us an extra day to be able to view one entrant, but all is well and we are preparing to vote for the winner. This year, we are either going to ask .ed, our leader, or Espen, the MyOpera community manager, to do the honors. It seems like a great reason to have a poll, right? The tricky thing about that is then people can just ask a billion people to vote for them, and it gets kinda un-fair.
Have a
look in the gallery to see the contestants in all their glory! And sit tight, we will announce the winners in due time.

We've just updated the
official Costume Contest rules to even further open up your ideas for your costume (updates are in green). I hope by now most of you have just about finished deciding who to be. Another itty bitty thing to inform you guys on: I may be able to score some more swag for prizes. Not sure yet, but stay tuned - things are looking good.
Who has thought about entering so far? Are any of you making pet costumes? I hope so; I wanna see some costumed kitties!

2009 Halloween Costume CoN+est! This year, we have decided to open up the rules a little bit to get more people in on the fun. Just some basic rule changes though. The biggest thing we have changed is to
open this to all video game characters! I know, I know, this is a Nintendo blog, right? We just can't contain our nerdy selves when we see other nerds in video game garb. You wanna be Master Chief and compete against Waluigi and Wario? Do it, we dare you! Are you a Sackboy fan? We bet you can't go toe to toe with Infernape! Oh, and what if you don't wanna dress up, but your puppy or kitty does?! DO IT! I swear if I see a pug dressed up as a Shy-Guy, I might die crying out of laughter! Oh, and the animals are allowed to pick any game character too. However, due to the complex nature of PC and Mac related characters and what IS or IS NOT related to the "game-machine" we will not be able to accept any characters from these "consoles". As you know, we also take costumes related to machines themselves (one very close runner up dressed as a Wii-Remote, another dude dressed as an item box from Mario), so items and physical real life relations count - just not from computers. Sorry guys a USB Keyboard costume is not up for entry (however we will still show the photos
).
So yeah, all you fans who wanted to go as a Sony, Xbox, or old time Sega exclusive can enter this year, and so can your pets! Just remember this, if you enter as a team, you win as a team - no triple prizes Pikmin Team! Enter together or as rivals!

It's a little less than a week away from Halloween and so far there have been no submissions to the
2008 Costume CoN+est 
. I guess we are curious as to if you plan to enter or not. Are you halfway done with the costume? Fully finished and waiting? Need a camera still? Not going to enter? Let us know!
I think that the prize system this time is perfect for a guaranteed delivery, and is also awesome because you don't give out your address if you are afraid of that kinda thing. Tell us your thoughts on the contest, anything we could do better, a specific reason for not entering? Or do you like the idea, and are trying to get your buddies to enter?
