Just a quick post to let you know that Rockband II is on the way to all three consoles, including Wii. Rockband II will launch for Xbox 360 and PS3 on March 27, while the Wii version is set for the 24th of April. This is for the European territories, just in-case you forgot to read the post title Anyone excited for this? Personally this is a game that can ONLY be fully enjoyed in an actual house, apartment dwellers are out. You can't just mumble past the Beastie Boys and be happy, you gotta shout "Sabatoge" as loud as you can while rockbanding, and then thats only good while your buddies are rocking the world away on guitars and drums and stuff. Anyone getting bored or saturated by all this guitar hero/rockband music game stuff? I am, but some mystical part of me still wants the Beatles music game when it's ready, from what we hear so far its 100% Beatles music, they can always change that, but lets hope not. Anyone get angry when you hear a song in public and some kid talks about how he heard the song from Rockband, and now he's a fan because of it? - it rips me up. Electronic Arts announced today a partnership with Suda 51 and Shinji Mikami, who are working to create a multi-platform game, Wii included, in collaboration with Suda's Grasshopper Manufacture development team.
Little is known about the game, which will be released on the Wii, Xbox 360, PS3, and Wii. Suda describes the game as a "mysterious, unique horror action game", and Mikami states the game is "dark, scary, and exciting."
With mediocre reviews and less than stellar sales, it doesn't seem like Electronic Arts would want to build a franchise off their singing and dancing game, Boogie.
EA is taking the "if at first you don't succeed" advice and creating a new game in the Boogie series for Wii. Boogie Superstar was announced today, featuring a brand new look and more than 40 songs. Boogie Superstar will be available for Wii in 2008. Strangely, there's no Balance Board support, which would seem like a no-brainer for the game.
EA is only marketing the game at girls, which I find highly offensive. What if I too want to sing about my milkshake bringing all the boys to the yard or the fact that I can't stop bleeding love? It's just not fair.

The Godfather: Blackhand Edition is one of the most critically acclaimed mature titles on Wii right now. Apparently, an 8.0 score from IGN is enough to guarantee a sequel, regardless of the fact that EA only mangaed to sell about 100,000 copies of the game.
John Riccitiello, CEO of Electronic Arts, confirmed that Redwood Shores is working on a sequel to The Godfather, saying: "It's a game that I think we'll be talking a lot about this fall. You can play this game both at the street level, much like a GTA-style game, but you can also play it top-down, almost like you're in an RTS, controlling the strategy of the boroughs so you can see what's going on..."
Hopefully this game will be just as well-made as the first, and maybe even sell a few more copies.
Rock Band has been very well received. Some outlets named it their best game of 2007, and many claimed it was the most innovative. Only one problem: it wasn't released on any Nintendo systems. What's a Wii fan to do? Wait? This time, it seems the waiting and hoping paid off because in a conference call yesterday, the CEO of Electronic Arts confirmed that a Wii version of Rock Band is in the works.
No release date or further information has been announced, but I can tell you one thing: it will be awesome.
EA has released a trailer for EA Playground for the Wii, which comes out in October. This game looks like so much fun I want it right now! It has all of the great kids games like dodgeball that are tailormade for the Wiimote. It looks great too.
The list of games available this week in the US is a fresh start for many of those who didn't pick up Wario Ware: Smooth Moves or Wii Play. Has anyone been waiting for either of these games? We're getting fewer minigame based games this time around, and with EA's Godfather title sporting some unique controls (I can not wait to see these Wii injuries) Wii is sure to catch some extra attention this week from retailers. But what about attention from you, attractive N+ Reader? New Wii games for the week of March 19th
We know all of you loyal N+ readers have heard of the Wii exclusive "The Sims" before so it's not entirely 'new' news. However, community member Dr.Z has informed us through our "Look What I Found" forum, that a Wikipedia entry claims to in-fact utilize your Mii creations. Dr.Z reminds us all though, that Wikipedia can be edited by anyone who wants to edit, despite the hard work the moderators due to ensure reliablility. So we can still chalk this one up to rumor. I have decided to bring this news forward because any tidbits of rumor we can get is fine by us, or at least Mii.
This brings up one interesting question though... "How on earth will EA animate my crazy Mii creations who have eyes hidden beneath hair lines, eyebrows used as mustaches, and mustaches being used as beards?"
Well, EA said Wii would get an exclusive version. And even though their Wii support has been growing (presumably because they had originally written Wii off, then came to their senses), this definately shows some respect for Nintendo's Mii revolution.
While it remains to be revealed if the game will support your Mii Channel creations (which you would then further edit once in the game's engine) or if you need to start from scratch, the options certainly eclipse what the Mii Channel offers in the form of clothing, hair, detail and overall style.
Not much is known but as you can see from the video embedded below, it certainly has heavy anime influences (see facial expressions and clothing) and seems to bring back some SimTown memories. While other versions of the Sims have led to more adult themes, this one seems to appeal to me in the same way Animal Crossing does: simplicity. That's not to say this is a dumbed down version, features are still unknown.
NGCFrance has some additional screenshots here.
The game's site is in Japanese.
