All of these screens were 'print-screened' by me from IGN and summerize some of the more important points, for the whole video go to
IGN Episode 30.
Wii Save Files: If you look at the picture to the left you will notice the game-saves screen. You can see how many blocks are left, and how many blocks Trauma Center: Second Opinion take up. If most games are around this large/small a save file, and IGN did not add any SD card, in the video he says it's stored on the internal 512MB. I don't think anyone has anything to worry about for a WHILE. This is great news for any of us who are dirt broke and were considering the added purchase of an SD card over a copy if Excite Truck. By all means go get Excite Truck now, and the SD card later, or even ask for one for
christmas the holidays. The prices of SD cards are dropping greatly! I just got one gig (
1G) for
$30.00 at Office Max.
WiideScreen Settings: This image shows that instead of choosing your image size within each game like on the Gamecube, you can do it once on Wii and it will set for all the games that are compatible with the chosen ratio. IGN reports that about 98% games can run in 16:9. They also report that 16:9 is the automatic set-up. More good news! Good news for those of us who dig widescreen, goodnews for those who don't, and good news for all of us lazies who just wanna fiddle with one menu, not 20. BTW, what ratio do you guys play at? personally I like widescreen, Mmmhmm, theatre mode...
Screen Burn-iin: This feature is really cool, and I wish I knew how it worked. I know what it does, not how it does, do I make sense? hopefully I do, see whith this function on you need not worry about any static, or non-moving images (usually HUD displays like ammo or health etc.) in your games getting "burned" into the television screen. This problem I don't think affect LCD screens, but it's definetely a problem with plasma sets (which I have), and a small problem with 'tube' sets. Maybee a screen saver pops up after a certain amount of time. IGN said somthing about cycling pixles, wich happens to be as easy for me to undestand as egyptian hyroglyphics. For me, the setting will remain on and never turned off.
Parental Controls: I personally applaud this feature. You should too, even if it is just another step closer to keeping courts from blaming game designers for minors playing evil games. You use a PIN code to get to this screen, If you forgot it or whatever you get a question to let you in. Just think of the Hotmail, EBay, Yahoo, type "I Forgot" questions, and you pretty much get the jist of it. In this menue you can set what ratings are too gaudy for your babies. It looks like IGN wants lil' Matt to stay under the E10+ rating.
Sensitivitii: THIS is one of the big ones, the sensitivity adjustments! this is somthing that I believe is a must for Wii, and they delivered. You can use the (-) and (+) buttons to set how quick your Wii-reticule moves in cooperation with your hand movements. This, no pun intended, should come in handy for those who sit really close to the TV set, there's no need to be so sensitive guys. Oh man even I am getting tired of my jokes, I will try to stop.
WiiFi Settings: Not exclusively WiFi though if you look to the left. the third button is reserved for the wired connection if you choose to go that route(r) haha oh I kid, I meant route. There has been news of a USB connector that will allow an ethernet cable to be plugged into Wii, and this image does concrete the hopes of a cable connection. Some of the actual WiFi settings include the following types of security: WEP / WPA-PSK ((TKIP)(AES)) / WPA2-PSK (AES). To alot of people this is important info, for me it is more egyptian, and if my DS runs WiFi perfect at home, than i'm not worried about a thing with Wii. If you want it can also detect your settings automatically, just like DS.
Wii Code: Woohoo! the one we were all waiting for! the S1NGLE code for all of our games to share with friends. Don't take my excited behavior too seriously though, I personally am a big fan of the per game friend code, I love to give out my Mario Kart code like it were roofies, and I horde my Animal Crossing:WW code like it were really expensive meth. I wanna challenge ALL to a race, but only really trusted buddies will be allowed to venture into my town with an ax. However, I do think this will make alot of you cheer. Apparently if you give this Wii Code out to your friends, all the games will share this one code,
supposedley. This screen comes from the Wii mail area where you can send Wiimail to your friends console, so it may only show up in that form. However IGN also belives this works for games as well. The picture is really hard to read but it says "This Console's Wii Number" then a blurred image of IGN's Wii number, then "Wii"

I thought I would just leave you with what the "Disc Channel" looks like when you select it. It obviously doesn't just jump directly into a game, it gives a basic description of the game just like the gamecube did. With Wii they also added 'preview music' to the screen as well.
So go check out the video link at the top, it's really worth it, I just wanted to plop down the notes I thought of as big. laterz!
