Nintendo announced earlier today through its press page1 that it will be visiting two dozen U.S. shopping malls this season, giving consumers an idea of what to expect in their stockings come Christmas day. There will be hands on demonstrations for upcoming or recently released 3DS titles, as well as games on the Wii and DS systems. Although the majority of titles exhibited will be Nintendo-published, games like Skylanders: Spyro's Adventure™ from Activision Publishing Inc. and Just Dance® 3 from Ubisoft will be shown off, as well.
The Nintendo mall program has been going on since 2006, the same year of the Wii's launch, which could help explain the huge successes of the Wii early in it's life-cycle. It could also play a crucial role in this year's sales figures, as well, but both points are pure speculation on my part. However, last year Nintendo estimates that it reached over 850,000 consumers through its mall program, so we can only wait and see what this season brings.
