N+erview: XOC

, , , ...

Awesome, awesome, AWESOME! N+ was not only able to get an interview with the man himself, but we also scored a sweet affiliation while we were at it . We now always have a permanent link to his main page in our affiliates section to the right of our page, making it easier to get to his music.

XOC and I are discussing some sort of something we can do for N+ readers as a contest for a prize or two - details are still fuzzy, but stay tuned. Within this interview XOC also gives you all the opportunity to donate your own musical creations to one of his projects so it can be on the album - and maybe even get your face in the cover art!

So hours after being handcuffed and pummeled in the N+ interrogation room, XOC opened up, he told us all that we wanted to know, and we are going to share the top secret information with all of you!

If you are ultra new to N+ or missed the previous posts, please visit them first. XOC covers Mario and XOC covers Kirby. Once you are done with those, adjust your speaker volume and read more for the interview...

Reggie and Miyamoto Talk Storage Solutions, More

, , , ...

In a recent interview with Club Nintendo, Reggie Fils-Aime and Shigeru Miyamoto addressed the increasingly annoying issue of Wii storage space. Miyamoto confirms that Nintendo is exploring all possible options to solve the problem, and Fils-Aime adds that Nintendo will not resort to a "traditional hard drive", but will create a solution that is "better than what we have now". Why does Nintendo have to over-complicate things? Wii owners have been asking for a hard drive for ages, just GIVE US ONE ALREADY. Ahem.

Miyamoto was also asked about Wii MotionPlus, and its possible incorporation into a new Zelda game. Miyamoto again confirmed that Nintendo is working on new Zelda and Pikmin titles, but declined to comment on Wii MotionPlus use.

Miyamoto went on to say that Wii owners shouldn't expect new peripherals any time soon, as he feels there are more than enough available for the Wii at the present time.

Guitar Hero: World Tour to Feature Wii Music Mode

, , , ...

In an interview with IGN Wii, Vicarious Visions disclosed information on a Wii exclusive mode in Guitar Hero: World Tour. "Mii Freestyle" mode allows you to use your system Miis to create music using either official World Tour peripherals or your Wii remote and nunchuk, a la Wii Music.

Vicarious Visions also re-confirmed that the Wii version of World Tour will include all features of the other versions - online play and DLC.

Sega: Lots of Crap On Wii, More Zapper/Balance Board Games Coming

, , , ...

The folks at VentureBeat recently got the chance to interview Sega of America's president, Simon Jeffery. Mr. Jeffery, rather bluntly, stated that he wasn't exactly happy with third-party support on Wii:
The Wii is a very cost effective platform to experiment with. There is a lot of crap coming out for the Wii in general.

Mr. Jeffery was also asked about peripheral support, to which he responded:
We are fans of the Wii Zapper. Our “Ghost Squad” game keeps selling. We have more Zapper games going. The same for the Wii Balance Board, although we have nothing announced yet.

Jet Grind Radio + Balance Board? Holy friggin crap.

There are some more interesting details in the full interview, which can be found here.

Reggie Says: Big Things at E3

, , , ...

With three huge titles being released in America within three months (Brawl in March, Mario Kart in April, and Wii Fit in May), many gamers have been wondering what's left for the rest of the year. With no plans for the second half of 2008 announced, it would seem that Nintendo doesn't have anything to offer.

Of course, they have plenty to offer; it just hasn't been announced yet. So, when will it be announced? Reggie Fils-Aime answered that question in an interview with Geoff Keighey, reminding us that E3 is coming up in July. Reggie stated that Nintendo's lineup for the entire second half of 2008 is going to be announced, with a big game coming for hardcore "gamers" this holiday season.

At last year's E3, Nintendo announced the Wii Zapper, Wii Wheel, and Wii Fit. They also announced release dates for Super Mario Galaxy, Metroid Prime 3, and Super Smash Bros. Brawl, though only Super Mario Galaxy's date was met. With such big announcements last year, what could top that? Let the speculation begin!

This My Opera Blog Design Is Full Of Nintendo Goodness

, , ,

Whilst browsing the My Opera Community, I came across this amazing blog design. Created by N+ member Karen, (aka Nerak, who also wields a mean zapper :D ), it is a superb tribute to Nintendo and Mario, and I love it. The animated sprites are fantastic, and it's well worth checking out.

We wanted to know more about it, and Karen kindly took the time to answer some of our questions:

N+: So, how did the idea for the blog design come about?
I'm a Graphic Artist/Designer by profession. My fiancé, Lonnie, and I own a Web Design/Development company and also a Hosting company. I do a lot of the graphic work for the companies. In my spare time, I use Photoshop and ImageReady as a hobbies. I'm always creating silly things with it as anyone who visits my blog and/or photo albums can easily see. Anyway, the layout I'm currently using took me a couple hours to complete. It would have taken much less time than that, but I decided to make my header animated, and animations take more time than flat images.

N+: I take it you're a big fan of Nintendo!
I've been a Nintendo fan since Nintendo's conception. I still own my very first NES system...and play it on a regular basis...as you can see by my default picture. (I'm 34, so I was in high school when the system first came out.) My kids who are 16 & 10 are now big Nintendo fans and they play the NES and the GameCube on a daily basis. Needless to say, I couldn't possibly be more proud!

N+: What is it about Mario and Nintendo that appeals to you?
What is it about Mario and Nintendo that I like? Hmmm...Pretty much everything. It's very user friendly, and I simply like the style of Nintendo's games over the other systems. I own a Playstation as well, but prefer Nintendo. In addition to Mario, I'm a hardcore Zelda fan. I can't seem to get enough of it. No matter how many times I beat a game, I never get sick of playing Nintendo games...which is something that cannot be said for other systems' games. Mario, though - not only is it a stroll down Memory Lane everytime I play, but it's plain ol' fun. When I die, I don't get all pissed off and want to punch stuff...instead, I see it as a challenge and cannot wait to go back and conquer it. :D

Thanks, Karen, and I hope we can see some more Nintendo delights from you in the future!

Wake Me Up, When September Ends

, , , ...

Geoff Keighley, of Game Head and Bonus Round, got the chance to talk with Reggie Fils-Aime after this year's E3 conference.

Reggie raises more questions than he does answers, including a surprise for WiiConnect24 coming by the end of September.

What about you? Have you found yourself disappointed in the lack of WiiConnect24 support? Did you turn it off to conserve energy? Let us know in the comments!

Also, have any ideas or suggestions for the surprise? Be sure to comment about that also. Maybe they've decided to implement a DS Download Station?

Check after the jump for a transcript of this part, as well as a part discussing online games for Wii.

N+erview: The Robotobots

, , , ...

Not too long ago N+ made an affiliation with a very unique project called the Robotobots. We as well as millions of other gamers became aware of the Robotobots through a side project they created entitled "The WiiMix". The WiiMix featured 3 songs from the Wii channel selection that had been chopped, looped, sampled, and WiiMixed with the soul of Hip-Hop.

Agent B and Gustodian are the two mad-scientists behind the side project, as well as the even larger Robotobots project. In this interview they share with us what exactly the Robotobots project is, where it is going, why the WiiMix exhists, what Nintendo means, and what you can expect from both the Robotobots and the affiliation with N+. I promise you, that this interview is something you really want to ride 'till the end! Check your speaker volume, this N+erview contains background music (play controls will be at the top of the page).

So without further delay, I bring you Robotobots, as interviewed by Captain Seagull

More Wii Browser Details

, , , ...

The official Nintendo Wii Site has posted an interview with the Nintendo developers of the Wii Browser powered by Opera. With the launch of the full version just around the corner, it's a good read, and gives an insight into how Opera and Nintendo worked together, and some of the features of the full version. I've picked out some choice quotes (there are quite a few), which can be found after the break...

Oh and make sure you check out some of the video clips of the full version in action, which are placed throughout the interview.

We've come a long way. Today marks the billionth time N+ has graced a MyOpera front page and it's a doozy. The N+ Interview chronicles the foundation, beginnings, and philosophy behind N+ and it's glorious evolution within MyOpera. Am I boasting too much? Ok, ok, but if you want to know everything you don't know about N+ (including what's coming soon), check it, as told by Seaempty, CaptainSeagull, and myself.
