Everybody Votes at N+

, , , ...

Last week we asked about your favorite features in the recently released Nintendo Channel. 46% prefer downloading DS demos, and 36% don't have the channel yet. From there, 11% like watching video clips or information videos of new games, 7% like recommending games, 4% (each) chose watching interviews, purchasing games, and other. No one said they preferred searching for new games...

This week, we want to know about the recently added social networking on MyOpera. These links are found in the actual blog posts, so you'll have to click the post title or the Read More link in order to see them.

Which of the following social networking sites would you be willing to use to promote N+?

  • del.icio.us
  • digg
  • Facebook
  • ma.gnolia
  • reddit
  • Slashdot

As always, votes can be cast in the sidebar on the right, and you must be a member of N+ to vote. The poll is multiple choice, so choose all that apply. Feel free to comment below.

Wii Ware Reviews

, , , ...

Just a quick post to let you know that N+ member evaunit6 has created a thread in the forums for people to post their reviews and thoughts on the various Wii Ware titles as they get released.

MK has already given his thoughts on Pop, and it'd be great if we could compile loads of reviews to help people decide what to spend their precious Wii Points on.

Last week we wanted to know how you preferred to control Mario Kart Wii, and the Wii Wheel stole the show with 69% of the total vote. Sadly, 23% of you haven't played it yet (you're missing out!). The Wii Remote and nunchuk controls followed with 8%, the Classic Controller received 4% of the vote, and apparently no one controls Mario Kart Wii with the Gamecube controller. Interesting...

In a non-Mario Kart poll, we want to know a little more about the recently released Nintendo Channel. Perfect timing, Nintendo, perfect timing...

What is your favorite feature in the Nintendo Channel?

  • Watching video clips/info videos of games
  • Watching interviews with game developers
  • Searching for games
  • Easy purchase of new games
  • Recommending games you've played
  • Downloading DS demos wirelessly from your Wii
  • Other
  • None (yet!) I live in Europe!

As always, votes can be cast in the sidebar on the right, and you must be a member of N+ to vote. Feel free to comment on your choice below! I think I have to go with the DS demos... that's just so cool!

Mario Kart Madness

, , , ...

We love the new Mario Kart here at N+. It seems we're not the only ones. There are a couple of threads in our forum that may interest those who are as addicted to the game as we are!

First up in the Friend Code thread, where a few of us have already posted our codes. We plan to have a weekly N+ Grand Prix which will take place on Sunday nights at 8pm GMT (20:00). If you fancy pitting yourself against other N+ members, post your code in the thread and log on at that time to join in with the fun! One of the mods should have opened a room for you to join. We'll also be using the N+ Chat Room to help communicate.

Next is a challenge laid down by sm197. He is a bit of a speed demon (and that's an understatement), and has started a Time Trial thread. Each week a new course will be chosen, and everyone can post their lap times.

In the future N+ will hopefully be running a special tournament, but more of this later...

Last week we wanted to know what your favourite type of Mario Kart track was, and it turned out to be one of the closest polls we've EVER had. The votes were pretty evenly spread across the board, which just goes to show how good the track design is. The joint winners were the circuits, and Rainbow Roads.

In the last poll in our month of Mario Kart madness, we want to know what your control method of choice is for Mario Kart Wii. Although the US have only had the game for a couple of days, I've sure those who have had it have experimented with the 4 different control types. The poll will be open for a week, so it'll give you a good chance to try them now, if you haven't already.

What's your favourite control option in Mario Kart Wii?

  • Wii Wheel
  • Wii Remote and Nunchuk
  • Classic Controller
  • Gamecube Controller
  • None - I've never played it!

As always, votes can be cast in the sidebar on the right, and feel free to comment on your choice below! I personally love the Wii Wheel. Even though the analogue stick gives that little bit more accuracy, it's no way near as fun!

Last week we wanted to know what type of character you preferred to use in Mario Kart. The top choice (with over 2/3 of the vote) was medium characters. I guess this was a pretty obvious outcome. Next up was the heavy characters (19%), with their tops speeds being an obvious draw. In last place came the light characters (14%). I have to say that now Koopa Troopa has made his return to the Kart, I'm all about the little guys. He was my character of choice in the original, and he's my guy in the Wii version.

Mario Kart Month continues, and this week we want to know about you favourite tracks. Although there are far too many to list, we've broken them down into categories. Hopefully they all make sense. If you need a better explanation, check out the game's Wiki page.

Which type of Mario Kart track do you prefer racing on?

  • Circuits
  • Beaches
  • Public roads
  • Deserts
  • Jungles
  • Haunted tracks
  • Snow Tracks
  • Stadiums
  • Bowser Castles
  • Rainbow Road

As always, votes can be cast in the sidebar on the right, and feel free to comment on your choice below! I personally love the circuits, especially the old Mario Circuits on the SNES. Simple racing at its best!

Last week we wanted to know what your weapon of choice was in Mario Kart. The winning (by a landslide) was the trusty red shell with 45% of the vote. Lightning and Bullet Bill came joint second, with 14% each. Of course, I can't comment on that - I've never had to use one as I'm always in the lead. That last statement may have been a lie.

Continuing our Mario Kart Month, we now want to know what your favourite character is. There are too many to list, so we're breaking it down into three classes. If you want to give a specific character, post a comment below!

Which type of character do you prefer to use in Mario Kart?

  • I use light characters! The good acceleration and handling make up for the lack of speed. Also Toad and Koopa Troopa rock my world.
  • I use medium characters! The well-balanced, all round stats means that I'm ready for any course. Also Yoshi drives a mean kart.
  • I use heavy characters! Yes, they are slow of the mark, but the top speed and strength means that I rule the road. Also Bowser says he'll burn my behind if I don't choose him.

Last week, we wanted to know which game in the Mario Kart series was your favorite. The DS installment took a clear majority with 41%, followed by Super Mario Kart for the SNES and Mario Kart: Double Dash!! for the Gamecube, both tied at 23%. Bringing up the rear were Mario Kart 64 (14%) and Mario Kart Super Circuit for the GBA, which received no votes at all!

Since Mario Kart Wii will be released in two days in Europe, and everyone at N+ is very excited, we're going to stick with the Mario Kart theme for the polls.

What is your favorite Mario Kart power-up/weapon?

  • Banana Peels
  • Green Shells
  • Red Shells
  • Blue Shells
  • Squid
  • Lightning
  • Star
  • Bullet Bill/Chain Chomp
  • Other

Like always, N+ members can vote through the poll in the sidebar to the right. I probably forgot quite a few (didn't have a list, sorry!), but feel free to vote for Other and let us know in the comments.

Tuesday Night Brawl MIA

, , , ...

Hey guys. Not to disappoint anyone, but unfortunately Tuesday night Brawl isn't happening anymore. The mods are finding it hard to have the time for it. But if you guys want to get together among yourselves and brawl, the official Brawl Friend Code thread is always open for you folks to trade in.

But one thing we are sure, is that there will be a weekly Mario Kart night on Wii. That way sea gets a chance to kick our butts.

In the meantime... Happy Brawling!

Last week we wanted to know your views on Nintendo's Pay and Play service. It looks like just about half of you (46%) are only willing to use it for downloadable content, and 14% only for online gaming. 21% of you obviously can't get enough Wi-Fi fun, and are willing to pay for both. About the same number (18%) aren't impressed with Nintendo's online services enough to warrant paying for them.

In honour of Mario Kart Wii being release this month, this week kicks off a Mario Kart Month of polls.

Which of the following Mario Kart games is the best?

  • Super Mario Kart (SNES)
  • Mario Kart 64 (N64)
  • Mario Kart Super Circuit (GBA)
  • Mario Kart: Double Dash!! (GC)
  • Mario Kart DS (DS)

As usual, votes can be cast on the sidebar to the right! Feel free to justify your vote, by commenting below. Maybe telling us which one you think is the worst?

Super Screenshot Grab: Brawl

, , , ...

N+ member WiiDark has found a site that works with ALL operating systems (MAC, LINUX, WINDOWS, etc...) which will convert any of the screenshots you have taken in Super Smash Brothers Brawl and saved to an SD card, and convert them into JPG files for use in the computer world! It's a pretty sweet site!

Snapshot Decrypter will allow you to open the picture files from your SD card straight through the internet. It is recomended that right after you upload the files and convert them that you save the file yourself, because the server space is limited where it will be uploaded, and you shot will most likely be deleted. BUT HEY! why not put them in you own Opera gallery, then share with us your silly shots! N+ has started it's own Smash & Grab Gallery, and Fancy Falcon is here to "kick it off"!

You can always find this website permanently in our links section too!
I found my smash pictures ".bin" files under ...wii/app/RSBE/al.

Spring is here!

, , , ...

... And so is Tingle! We thought it would be an excellent way to begin spring with flowers and sunshine and rupees and Tingle! Freshly Picked: Tingles Rosey Rupee Land is a DS game that came out in Japan, then Europe. That was it, and thats as far as it's going!

Tingles Wikipedia Page!

Except! HAHA! The American Captain Seagull and the European Seaempty have planned a super sweet game trade! Seaempty has shipped reshly Picked: Tingles Rosey Rupee Land to Seagull, and in return the Seagull is shipping the has-yet-to-get-a-European-release-date Professor Layton and the Curious Village to Seaempty!

I was thinking, should N+ try to set some kind of area up for you guys to do the same thing? you all know that DS games are region free right?! - anyway if we set this thing up we DEFINITELY need to have rules, and we really really need you guys to follow them! for instance some things that would HAVE to be followed:

  • Parents know what games you are trading away AND getting in return (and ratings!)
  • Parents MUST ok the exchange of addresses
  • These MUST be done with PRIVATE MESSAGES - NO POSTING ADDRESSES IN FORUMS. They will be removed.

Those MUST be followed, we don't want anyone getting in big trouble, including ourselves (N+)! But I think we could set up an official forum where you post what game you would like from what region, and what games you would be willing to trade for it! then you can contact that person via Private Message.

What do you guys think? should N+ get its butt in gear and try to find the perfect solution to make this happen?

Last week we wanted to know who is your character of choice in Super Smash Bros. Brawl. Just under a third of you (29%) haven't yet played the game because Nintendo hasn't released the game in Europe yet. From those who have played it, the majority play with one of the unlockable characters (17%). We'll never know which one though, because it's a secret... From the characters available from the start of the game, the most popular was the newcomer, Pit.

This week, in light of revelations that WiiWare games already want you to pay extra Wii Points to play them to their full extent, we want to hear your views on Wii Pay and Play.

Are you prepared to pay for some of the Wii's online services?

  • Yes, but only for online gaming.
  • Yes, but only for downloadable content.
  • Yes, for everything.
  • No, not for anything!

As usual, votes can be cast on the sidebar to the right! Feel free to justify your vote, by commenting below.

Last week we wanted to know which WiiWare launch title interested you the most, and the clear winner (with 43% of the vote) was Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: My Life as a King. Next, with 29%, was Pokémon Ranch, and third was Dr. Mario, with 24% of the vote. Spare a thought for poor old Mojipittan, who didn't get a single vote :frown:

This week's vote is all about BRAWL! You lucky Americans/Japanese/Importers with Freeloaders have had the game for a few weeks now, and we want to know who is your character of choice...

  • I don't have Brawl
  • None of the above. I'm European, and Nintendo hates me

So let us know! Your votes can be cast in the sidebar on the right!

N+ Brawl TONIGHT!

, , , ...

N+ Update - Due to circumstances beyond my control (my mom), I can't play Brawl anymore today. :frown: So lutherjw will (probably) still be online hosting brawls. If you feel like it. I'll still be in the chat room though.

That's right folks, tonight marks the first of WEEKLY Tuesday Night Brawls here at N+! We will be fighting from NOW until 10pm EST. So for FOUR HOURS, then we'll call it a night. Has everyone traded friend codes in the Brawl thread? Good!

Now get on Wi-Fi, get into the N+ chat room, and let's Brawl! (Instructions on getting into the chat room can be found at http://my.opera.com/Nplus/blog/chat - I hope to see everyone there!
