1-800-Members

, , , ...

WOAH! Milestone reach! 1,800 members on N+; how awesome is that? Seriously, how freaking awesome is that?! I wanna know who invites all their friends and bugs them to join N+, better yet, how many of you joined MyOpera with the sole purpose of joining N+? I know that I joined MyOpera with the sole purpose of BUILDING N+ on the 11th of July in 2006!

What are your favorite N+ memories? What sections of N+ do you think just OWN the competition? Is it our killer forums? Our superb galleries? Or is it our monthly custom headers that do the trick? Is it our awesome link page? Or something else? We think that it's you, the members who make this thing awesome.

If you actually call 1-800-Members, you get big time shipping services, and doing a Google search for the number 1800 only shows fashion and coins from the 1800's and this brand of tequila :drunk:

N+ Voted Best Group on MyOpera

, , , ...

Well, We won! :hat:

The 2007 MyOpera Awards have been awarded and N+ has been chosen as the Best Group by the community (which recently broke 1,000,000 Members). We'd like to thank all of those who voted and continue to support N+, this group really is the product of it's members, not just moderators.

Thanks so much guys. If you're newer to N+, have a look back at some of our previous Milestones, or read the N+ Interview to learn how it all started.

After a look back, a preview into what's in store: Think more fun, more reviews, and more features. We've got a Costume CoN+est going on now that everyone should check out, Our prizes are getting crazier, and we're going to be fully reviewing games like the big boys soon (i.e. before they are released).

So, now we can add Best Group to our trophy case, anyone want to share thier favorite parts of N+?

Wow! N+ has just reached 1,000 members! It's totally rhombus to see so many of you here for breaking Nintendo news, chatting in the forums, entering contests, checking out the galleries, and sharing your thoughts with other Nintendorks such as yourselves. The moderators of N+ would like to thank all of you for making this community what it is, a fun place to go nerd it up Nintendo-stylie!
If you "read more" into this blog you will find a group photo of all of the N+ members!

Some pretty big things going on this week at N+

  • Tomorrow is officially N+1, our first birthday
    - why not make us a birthday card?
  • We're probably going to get our 1000th member this week
    - why not make some celebratory art?
  • Oh, and that thing... what's it called? E3? Yeah.
    - why noy glue your eyes open?*

More details, news, love, tea coming soon.
* Do not glue eyes to anything except N+

The N+ Interview

, , , ...

We've come a long way. Today marks the billionth time N+ has graced a MyOpera front page and it's a doozy. The N+ Interview chronicles the foundation, beginnings, and philosophy behind N+ and it's glorious evolution within MyOpera. Am I boasting too much? Ok, ok, but if you want to know everything you don't know about N+ (including what's coming soon), check it, as told by Seaempty, CaptainSeagull, and myself.

Thanks Espen!

Five Hundred

, , , ...

I have to be honest, I was a little worried soon after I had posted The Challenge. I even txt'd a few people saying "I either just made a big move, or a big mistake for N+" Because it wouldn't look very cool if we had, say 20 people join in a few weeks and had only a handful of new Members by the end of March. Instead, we had over 200 additional members join N+ and MyOpera in about half of the time I allowed. Bringing us past the 500 Member goal several weeks early! Awesome.

The Surge
Just asking people to spread the word seems to have had the greatest effect on numbers. The other was people joining who realized "I've been reading N+ often, but never realized you could join" some, partly because they were using the RSS/Widget function, others because they have very tiny eyes. Let's take a moment to make fun of them.

The Support
Usually the N+ Moderators are the ones that get credit for what's going on here, but you know us. I'd like to take an hour or so to gather a bunch of html together to honor a few people that you may not know are responsible for why you're a part of something that is going to be huge soon.
That actually took about an hour.

Thank You
To everyone that has joined, helped, supported, linked, shared, shown, subscribed, spotlighted, bookmarked, favorited (word?), and read N+ helping us reach this first important goal. This is just the start.

300 + Challenge

, , , ...

You know, yesterday I was thinking I should issue a challenge. To see if we could get 8 new members to bring us up to 300 by today. I didn't, and we hit the number anyway. Check out our Member List to see the latest N+ Members (hint: with the exception of the moderators on the first page, people are on the list in the order they joined). We've grown steadily over the months and have built an excellent community, active forums, a sexy blog, and kicky sweet content from our well informed members. Other sites are linking to us every day, so far we've been featured in over 110 blogs and over 22 gaming websites.

This got me thinking. I should issue a challenge to our 300 Members. A challenge against incredible odds...
I tried to think of something fun, rewarding, and kind of tough. Something that we can work together on. So here it is: Kill like a hundred thousand Persians.

Ha, no seriously... Lets try to get 500 N+ Members by the time Opera releases the Final Version of the Opera Browser for Wii, set for late March. Wha?! Don't worry, it's not nearly as difficult as killing 100,000 soldiers, but it's going to be tough. By working together, bringing in friends, brothers/sisters/cousins/coworkers/etc., promoting on our other personal sites with banners and links, spreading the word on N+ through message boards and other community sites, and spotlighting this blog (by clicking the spotlight link at the very top of the page) I am confident we can reach this number.

But Ed, you said this was going to be rewarding! Ah... well, it's hard to reward all 300 of you, some will undoubtedly work much harder than others, and many of the additional 200 will put in a great deal of effort as well. So I will proclaim the first 500 as N+ Founders. There will be a link in the Side Bar that will be a page that has all 500 of you named, honored, and of course, a link to your my.opera page. For those putting in even more effort, I will arrange something a little better, perhaps some Opera or Nintendo goodies (I have some stuff floating around here), and maybe we'll find out that we've got a future moderator in the ranks that we didn't even know about. This is your opportunity to really step it up and show us your support. So to see who is working the hardest, you can have the members you bring in leave a comment here letting everyone know who showed them the N+.

:knight::knight: FOR SPARTA! :knight::knight:
Update: I made an badge to put in your about or blog pages. Just place the below code
<a href="http://my.opera.com/Nplus/blog" title="N+ Founder"><img src="http://files.myopera.com/DotEd/albums/161273/N%2BFounder%20Gray.gif" alt="Nintendo Plus Founder"></a>
in your profile, message board signature, or in a sticky blog on your site to brag while supporting N+!

Over 2000 Skill in Wii Sports Get!

, , , ...

Didn't think you'd see this did you?
Click and Digg this story! - then read!

My long time friend Nick (unfortunate previous reference) ended up getting Wii as a late Christmas gift due to demand/shortages from his awesome wife Holly. I had them over in late November and they fell in love with Wii Sports. Despite Nick literally owning every game system in history through the years that I've know him, Holly was actually more enthusiastic about getting Wii for their home.

She called me for weekly updates on my search to find one for Nick in time for Christmas, but we simply couldn't get one. Since he found one on his own, Nick's been playing Wii Sports on his lunch breaks over the past few weeks to catch up to my 6 week lead. He called me today with some awesome news:

Nick: Nothing happens when you break 2000 in Tennis.

Me: How do you know?

Nick: I'm 2024.

Me: WHUAA?! Dude can you send me pics?

He played a few more rounds and just sent these to my phone:

And here showing his skill literally off the chart:

Nick, you are awesome. He also said that he is approaching 2000 in Bowling as well. As many know, you get a [spoiler alert!] special Bowling Ball at Pro level (1000 Points). As far as Tennis goes, Nick says he's been playing the same two people now, at 1900 and 2000 Skill level respectively. How is everyone else doing?
Sorry for the watermarks, but there are a few uncool blogs out there that have already stolen a lot of our images. I stored these here.

Opera Wii Splash Page Update

, , , ...

A few days ago the Wii-only Opera Browser Splash Page got an update, that I for one, love.

Anyway, the page is sort of a beta-front-page type deal Opera is playing around with for the Wii browser. It features direct links to My.Opera, Opera.com, and Opera for Wii Forums. It also has nifty banner right on top of the page linking directly to your favorite Nintendo news source, N+! (see also: High Score!)

This is the second version of the page since launch, The first version featured our Belov.ed group leader as Opera's "Featured Blogger". I remember calling him when I saw it...

  • "Ed, you are like the god of the internet now!"
  • "I know, I saw that, I am surprised!" (Ed's a humble guy)

Well now it seems that Opera has found a new internet god... hahaha! (humble?) ME!
Oh, I kid, I kid, I was actually very flattered and wrote a personal blog about the honor.

There is somthing new added to the page that wasn't present last time, a "Featured Photo Album" section that, this time, shows of the work of Sprogger, who has a thing for cats, much like our own seaempty p: , but has cooler 3D art than any of us could make. Go check this guys photography out!

And at the very bottom, we have Gamespot.com. Thats right, N+ beats out Gamespot at the top of the Nintendo news source for Opera, I gotta say, it's quite amazing to all of us the we grew this fast, I guess it's because everyone here really loves what they do, and loves Opera and Nintendo even more.

411, as in Information:

This is our 411th blog post! Woo! Hardly a milestone compared to our Forums which grow too fast for me to worry about, but still, it feels good to have made such an impact. So I've added the Milestone tag. For those moments when we realize we surpassed one of our goals. In the future if you are ever curious as to what we think belongs in that category, just click the Milestone tag in the top right of this post to get a list. I backtracked a little and added some goodies  . And for those new, browse the Archive for some interesting finds and check out our roots.

Today's Milestone: Over 250 Members. :hat:

Thanks to everyone for their support, information, contributions, and for spreading the word to friends. Special thanks goes out to Opera, and of course Espen. Now let's double it! We get over 1,000 visitors a day but a lot of you aren't members, so Join and Link a friend now!
