Disaster definitely won't see a 2008 release? That's not (entirely) true.
Earlier this week, several German and Danish gaming magazines "confirmed" that Disaster: Day of Crisis would be released in Europe on October 24th. Nintendo responded by calling the news "rumor and speculation", but that rumor and speculation has turned out to be true. Today, Nintendo of Europe officially announced that Disaster: Day of Crisis will release in Europe on October 24 of this year.
Check out
this Flickr set for over 90 images from the game, just released yesterday, and check after the break for the full press release.
Still excited? Stay tuned to N+ for more news, including (hopefully) a US release date announcement.

Last week, we
told you about a rating for Disaster: Day of Crisis showing up at the OFLC's website. What does Nintendo have to say about that?
Disaster: Day of Crisis is still in development.
I don't see how that can be, as it's been rated by the OFLC, so I'd say it's finished. I'm hoping for a surprise announcement that says it will release before the end of this year...
It might not be disaster for Disaster after all.

I excitedly
twittered about this as the news broke, but figured I better post it here as well.
Earlier today, the
OFLC, Australia's rating board, classified Disaster: Day of Crisis with an M rating. After the title was indefinitely delayed in Japan right before its release, fans speculated that the project had been completely cancelled, much the same as Project H.A.M.M.E.R.
Since the OFLC has classified the game, there's a significant chance the game is still set for release. Whether it will release this year or not, we can't say...
