Just in time for the release of New Super Mario Bros. Wii, he releases another throwback compilation, this time relating to Super Mario Bros 3! Oh Em Gee right? With a minimal $5 donation (you can donate more if you want) XOC will personally mail you a physical copy of his album. Here is a sample video for the piquing of your interest... Check the web page to buy awesomeness!
You wanted it, many of you hacked your way into it, and now, MTV and Harmonix have made it real and legal: user generated music.
Rock Band Network is being shown as a closed beta, for now, and will go into open beta phase as early as August (yeah, that's next month). The project aims to allow bands and singers to upload and price their own songs for the rest of the world to enjoy. Buuut, there's a catch: these dates are for XBox 360 only, although there are plans to release the same network for both PS3 and Wii versions of the game (sorry PSP, no luck for you).
Uploaders will, apparently, have two options; either let 'Harmonix-trained freelance game developers' do the game adaptation for them, or hire their own people to do so. That way, not only are they writing songs and getting them out there, but they can also have the freedom to adapt the notes to the game in whatever way they see fit.
Well, there are some things that just don't seem like they'd be good. This is one of them. An 8tracks playlist that made me go "....uh.?"
I clicked play, and half way through the first song I started writing this post. If you like mainstream rappers when they happen to pull a decent set of lyrics and if you're old enough to responsibly hear bad words and not repeat them with meaning, then get ready to octo-rock. To be honest it's more interesting than amazing, because you've heard all the songs and lyrics mashed up in here, but it's a new way to listen to some relaxing beats. And frankly, it will make you smile.
Last Sunday, I had the honor to heading to the Budweiser Event Center in Loveland, Colorado to see Video Games Live for the first time. In case you are in the dark on the matter, Video Games Live is basically a concert that has a full orchestra and choir playing all your favorite video game songs... live! It is produced by famous game composers Tommy Tallarico (Earthworm Jim, Advent Rising) and Jack Wall (Splinter Cell, Mass Effect). Hit the jump for my thoughts on the experience, including meeting Tommy Tallarico himself!
Our new poll, which has been up for about a week now (see the right side of our page), asks about your VG Music collection. How do you store them in your MP3 players, iPods, iTunes, Windows Media Somethings, etc...
Do you keep your favorite songs from the games up front, and least fav towards the end, or do you alphabetize them? I personally go by in-game appearance.
Vote and tell us about your music collection here!
N+ Update: It looks like you guys have a funky error where it wont let you vote. I just emailed Espen of Opera about it. I guess just let us know here now for temporary?
N+ UPDATE2: Looks like a few more votes trickled into the poll! try voting again!
Awesome, so we got the North American release of Madworld down, then we got a killer interview with Doujah Raze from the games soundtrack, and today we want to announce that Douja Raze is down with affiliation now! If you have a Facebook profile you can visit him here, and if you are a Myspace user, this is his profile. Be sure to add him to your friend lists on either or both sites. His Myspace artist page is getting some new music soon, so be sure to give a listen, and this link is also our perma-link to the right of our news posts in the "affiliates section". So be on the look out, now that we are friends we want to keep you guys in the loop to major news events Doujah will be giving out! Things like album releases or limited edition - whatevers. Nplussers are getting some special treatment here.
Hey guys, it's your Captain back with another musician N+erview. This time though, we've got Doujah Raze, one of the Hip Hop musicians who worked on MadWorld, which just released yesterday in North America! A word of caution before you cross the line: language is used "freely". For the most part, it's pretty clean, but if you are easily offended watch out as one or two words might spark something. Now, enough of the small talk, "Read more..." about the music behind the game, and the artist behind the music!
Are you a fan of the Tales series? Then you should check out the newest fan album released by Overclocked Remix! Its called Summoning of Spirits and it covers songs from Tales of Phantasia and Tales of Symphonia! There are over 50 tracks and spans over 4 disks! If you want to download the entire album as a Torrent or Zip file, click here. If you want to download the bonus tracks, click here. Be warned that the entire zip is around 1.45 gigs if you choose the FLAC files and 285 MB for the mp3 files! If you download the album, let us know what you think of it in the comments!
All of the music for MadWorld (yes, the awesome hip-hop type stuff found in the trailer) is so exclusive to the game that it was made just for the game, so these tracks are not something you can download or buy at Amazon... yet. In Europe and Australia, this soundtrack is going to be a pre-order bonus! I guess these territories that usually get shafted are getting the goodies lately.
Anyone pre-ordering this game and NOT interested in the OST? Care to ship it to your Americano Captain?
Here is a sample video of the soundtrack that the games creators put together and share on their blog:
OverClocked ReMix is a fan community for those who enjoy remixing video game music. We discovered it from a fellow Twitter user (and Head Submissions Evaluator at OCRemix)Larry Oji.
Looking for some Sega music to put on your iPod? Then check out this fan album of songs that pay tribute to many Sega Genesis games! From Sonic to Moonwalker to Streets of Rage to Toejam and Earl, there is bound to be one or two of these songs that will trigger some memories from back in the day! To download the album, just go to the LOSER album web site!
To me, Chrono Trigger has one of the best soundtracks in a game EVER. So, to celebrate the release of Chrono Trigger on DS, I wanted to post an fan album of the music. So what better then Chrono Symphonic? Its been out for a while, but nonetheless has a great variety of remixes from many of the songs in Trigger.
So if you haven't heard this album yet, you should click the link and check it out, all the music is free to download!
Awesome, awesome, AWESOME! N+ was not only able to get an interview with the man himself, but we also scored a sweet affiliation while we were at it . We now always have a permanent link to his main page in our affiliates section to the right of our page, making it easier to get to his music.
XOC and I are discussing some sort of something we can do for N+ readers as a contest for a prize or two - details are still fuzzy, but stay tuned. Within this interview XOC also gives you all the opportunity to donate your own musical creations to one of his projects so it can be on the album - and maybe even get your face in the cover art!
So hours after being handcuffed and pummeled in the N+ interrogation room, XOC opened up, he told us all that we wanted to know, and we are going to share the top secret information with all of you!
If you are ultra new to N+ or missed the previous posts, please visit them first. XOC covers Mario and XOC covers Kirby. Once you are done with those, adjust your speaker volume and read more for the interview...
Kirby, that's what (who)! And unlike Kirby, the music to his games do NOT suck... or are pink. "What's Pink and Sucks" is XOC's other cover album: Kirby's Adventure. And even though SMW is still a better game, XOC covered the Kirby game, in my opinion, better than SMW. If you missed out on the SMW cover, check it out, then visit the official download site for What's Pink and Sucks.
XOC also has a website that links to projects he is into that he may, or may not be a part of. OH and if you check the bottom of his website, you can pick up some random MP3s. Some are Metroid, some are Sonic, but still enough to make a mini-soundtrack if you want.
XOC, if you don't love him yet, you will soon! I like bringing you guys music, last time it was Metroid Metal, and before that Jayvee brought you guys some Zelda Reorchestrations. Today I bring you one dude playing a bunch of different instruments to do the most complete covers ever known to man: Super Mario World. Besides the fact that he covered every song down to the P-Switch in this album, and made sure that Chocolate Plains sounded different then the regular overworld is boss! Oh and he didn't just cover the music in some old traditional way either, you can really feel this guys difference in how he plays, its terrific - the BEST SMW cover ever, and that means alot coming from me, as it's my favorite game of all time! Go Here to check out the track listing where you can download FOR FREE each one individually, with permission from the artist himself. If you want to go all out and download the expanded GOLDINUM edition .RAR file, right click here and "save target as" to wherever you want in your computer. This ExpEdition is new to me, and a limited edition, I downloaded the regular album a while ago and just found out about "goldinum" just now, I can't wait to listen!
Oh and he has a super limited OFFICIAL release album out right now that you may wanna buy. The price is $6 US and $8 for the rest of the planet, NOT a bad deal at all, I just ordered one, who knows how many are left, there are only 100 made. Here's the link and description:
xoc has participated in other Concatenation compilations, but this is his first solo release for the label (and for Good-Evil Records), and it's quite the endeavor. xoc has spent the last three and a half years working on a medley that consists of 100 short themes from video games which spans 18 minutes and 22 seconds.
Since the length is under 24 minutes, xoc decided to have this release printed up on 3" CDs.
Well my main complaint i have with Opera Mini 4.5 5.0 & Opera Mobile on my E51 smartphone its not accessing the prective text funtion of my phone while there are other 3rd party apps there where it uses the good ol Tegic T9
