Now that the DSi is out and we've summarized the beast, what do you think? Are you reading this on your DSi now? NO?! Wait, don't tell me you don't know how to download Opera for your DSi?
From the comments on the YouTube video we did comparing the speed of the new Opera Web Browser for Nintendo's DSi, I've found that people who comment on videos there should be used for food. They always ask if the browser can play YouTube videos, I guess because they spend all day on the site, and ask how to 'get' Opera on a DSi. Are you kidding?
N+ moderators Khadgar and myself were lucky enough to receive two Nintendo DSi's with the Opera web browser preinstalled a few weeks back, and we've been putting them through some rigorous testing (literally - I dropped mine twice, and I never drop anything, so it must have been for science).
Over the next few weeks, we'll be posting daily on the DSi. We're going to cover EVERYTHING because it seems like no other blog did. Exclusive to N+ will be our unique coverage of the new DS Browser - because our DSi's (even though they are Japanese language versions) were sent to the sexy folks in Norway where they downloaded it for us from DSware before shipping to N+. This new version has obvious updates like no need for additional RAM, it becomes a 'channel' on the DSi home screen, and since it's software based there is potential for updates, like the Wii browser has seen (and will get again).
What we'll need from you is comments and feedback on what you want to see, so we get you the most interesting info. DSi compared to DS lite, in every way. New DS browser compared to Old DS browser, in every way. DSi compared to G.I. Joes, in every way. New DSi Browser compared to Opera Mini, iPhone, iPod touch, GBA, GameBoy Player, a cat named Skoo, etc., in every way.
So give us some work to do in the comments, tell us what you want to see, while we compile our data from the past weeks and we'll give you guys and girls something to read daily on the upcoming European and North American Nintendo DSi.
Also, follow @NPlus on twitter for kicky fast notifications of new posts or subscribe to our new N+ RSS Feed so we can get some stats to work with to better serve the community.
N+ member Demonstro is my new favorite person ever. He made a kicky sweet Opera skin based on the Wii Internet Channel!! We here at N+ have been waiting for one of these for as long as I can remember, (we even made a post about it back in the day, I can't seem to find it, but nothing came out of it. )
I urge you all to go install this thing, it is beautiful.
The voting polls are closed, the contest is over - and we didn't get 1st. Thats okay though we got 2nd! We got second place with 365 Photos, of course we did, we couldn't let them beat us, and they seem pretty attached to us as well
The voting closed with: id taking first place at 20% of the votes and 125 votes total. While we and 365 both got 19% of the votes and 116 votes total.
It looks like this year we have a rival who is very powerful with the force! Group 365 is battling with everyone it has to become #1 group! But we mustn't let that happen!
Just look at the love their members are shouting! - We can beat that right?! Vote and tell all your friends to vote too, and tell them to tell all their friends!
N+ is a finalist for the Opera Awards 2008 "Best Group"! Without your votes, this wouldn't have happened. We won last year, let's see if we can win again! Click here to vote for your favourite group (ahem). Voting ends Wednesday 10th December.
Earlier this week, N+ brought you a first look at the brand new Opera DSi web browser running on the system. Now, thanks to Scandinavian magazine GamesReactor, we're able to bring you a first look at the second version of Opera for the Wii.
According to GamesReactor, the new version of the popular Wii Internet Channel will include many new features, including new buttons, Wii Speak compatibility, the ability to view your Wii mail directly from the browser, and the option to have as many as six tabs open at one time, viewable in a cube, as seen in the image to the right.
Version 2 of the Internet Channel will launch in December and cost 500 Wii Points. It will be available as a free upgrade to those who own the previous version.
Enplussers are being treated to the world's first preview of the Opera browser running on Nintendo's latest handheld device, Nintendo DSi! This video is exclusive (at least at the moment) to N+.
The browser appears to be leaps and bounds better than its predecessor for the DS, perhaps even based off of Opera's latest version. We're all big fans of Opera, especially Opera on the Wii and the DS. Looks as if the DSi version is going to be an excellent application to use when we're able to get our grubby hands on a DSi. Well after the break you can see the video.
Opera is at it again! Back to the Opera Best voting! Last year, N+ won the Best Group on Opera award, and we are trying to do it again, so please vote! I know we can do it! Ramunas was the very first person to vote at all, and he voted for us! Thanks Ramunas!
WOAH! Milestone reach! 1,800 members on N+; how awesome is that? Seriously, how freaking awesome is that?! I wanna know who invites all their friends and bugs them to join N+, better yet, how many of you joined MyOpera with the sole purpose of joining N+? I know that I joined MyOpera with the sole purpose of BUILDING N+ on the 11th of July in 2006!
What are your favorite N+ memories? What sections of N+ do you think just OWN the competition? Is it our killer forums? Our superb galleries? Or is it our monthly custom headers that do the trick? Is it our awesome link page? Or something else? We think that it's you, the members who make this thing awesome.
If you actually call 1-800-Members, you get big time shipping services, and doing a Google search for the number 1800 only shows fashion and coins from the 1800's and this brand of tequila
The nice chaps over at Gamestyle have created a new blog, here on My Opera. If you don't already know about Gamestlye (shame on you), the site came about from a love of videogames. It was created way back in 1999, and has been an important guide for gamers ever since. For more information, check out their Wikipedia page.
Whilst the main site will still be home for fantastic reviews, podcasts, and the impressive Gamestyle forum, the My Opera blog will be used to post the thoughts and comments from the Gamestyle team.
The blog can be found here, and if you want a broader gaming fix, go and check it out!
Believe it or not I actually began on this in MARCH after you guys wanted a Mario Kart header. I finally finish it a couple of days shy of JULY. Whew. Not so speedy is it?
Anyway, considering we missed the release of Mario Kart by a few months I decided it'd still be fitting to put us beating the snot out of each other racing on a fictional track modeled after the graphics used to advertise Opera 9.5. We might not be going so fast, though. We seem too occupied with destroying each other than actually racing... well maybe not Seaempty. Heck, Lutherjw can't even decide which way he wants to go! How fitting. Opera's released a great update to their browser, and we're all about Nintendo and Opera, so here's something to display our appreciation for Opera. Besides, without them we wouldn't even have this log here!
As usual, the header doesn't show all of the image. You can view a high res image in the N+ Design Album in the photos section of this site.
I should clarify that by 'mobile gaming' I am referring to all types of mobile gaming that are done on portable gaming devices, of which everyone [should know and] can agree that Nintendo DS commands a good portion of that market segment. Therefore my commentary on the topic does apply to PSP, GBA, and mobile phones, etc. to a degree proportional to thier share of that pie.
Whilst browsing the Opera for Nintendo DS forum, here on the MyOpera Community, I came across some nifty games designed with the Opera DS Browser in mind.
First up we have Operanoid, designed by Fyrd, which is a good little breakout clone.
Next up is a great collection of games designed by rkm. It features Panel Puzzle, Minesweeper, Hang Man, Snake, and Tetris, and can be found here. They even come in an "offline" version, meaning that once you've loaded it up, you can play once you've disconnected. Great idea!
I+ is a group for those that are interested in, developing and curious about discussing independent media such as games, music, movies, literature, and everything else in between.
