Mega Man 9 to Feature DLC, Cost $10

, , , ...

You've seen the announcement and scans and you've seen the first footage - what's next? How about some pricing and release date information?

... for Japan, at least. Back in SNES days, people would have been happy to pay at least $50 dollars for a new installment in the series. According to Famitsu, however, will sell on WiiWare for 1000 Wii Points, or $10 USD. Famitsu also mentions the game will see a September release in Japan, and we can only assume it's likely to release in America around that time as well.

Famitsu and Nintendo Power have now both suggested Mega Man 9 will feature downloadable content. Any ideas on what it will be? Let us know in the comments.

We have also received several new screenshots, which you can see after the break.

This is DotEd, reporting on location at DustyButton's secret rebel base. [/nerd] Just a regular Virtual Console update this week. But don't forget, last week we got Super Mario Bros. 3, probably to hype this week's release of Super Mario Galaxy in the US, along with a Mario Contest. Ok, just go download Super Mario Bros. 3 again.

N + Volleyball
NES®, 1-2 players, Rated E for Everyone, 500 Wii Points
Step onto the court in one of the first volleyball games ever made. Select either the men's or women's competition, choose from one of eight available countries to represent, and prepare for some intensely fun game play. The straightforward controls include all the moves you'll need to effectively direct your six-person team. Take some time mastering them in the training mode, though, because you'll need all the practice you can get when competing against challenging computer opponents. If you feel like some multiplayer action, take on a friend in the two-player mode and see whose skills are more polished. Block, set and spike your way to victory.

Take control of the prototype Axelay ship and use its wide range of advanced weaponry to battle enemy forces. Play through multiple stages of action —from other planets to space stations — all on your way to destroying the alien headquarters. You are Corliss' last line of defense, so be careful not to be too distracted by the excellent graphics (including great scrolling effects) and rocking music. Pilot the Axelay using Konami's famously tight play control and experience what many consider to be a classic of the shooter genre.

N + BLUE'S JOURNEY
NEOGEO, 1-2 players, rated E for Everyone – Comic Mischief, 900 Wii Points

Released in 1991, this horizontally scrolling action game tells the story of an insectarian named Blue and his quest to save the planet and keep its inhabitants from being turned into slaves. Use Blue's main weapon, a leaf, to flip enemies onto their heads and then throw them at other members of the Daruma tribe, defeating anyone in your way. Additional weapons, such as bombs and boomerangs, are also available, or you can collect flowers to purchase other special items like honey or swim fins. Blue also has the special ability to change his size at will — if he's too big to fit in a particular area, then shrink him. The bright, colorful graphics, combined with lots of hidden items to find, ensure an enjoyable experience with plenty of replay value. Help Blue muster all his strength and eliminate the Daruma tribe.

I can only guess that Nintendo is releasing what they call in their official press release the "Greatest Game of All Time" this week in preparation for next week's release of Super Mario Galaxy. But, what are they going to release next week?

N + Super Mario Bros. 3
NES®, 1-2 players, Rated E for Everyone, 500 Wii Points
Remember when no one had ever heard of a Tanooki Suit or knew that Bowser™ had a clan of Koopalings? The game that made these things common knowledge is also considered by many to be one of the best ever made. Bowser and the Koopalings are causing chaos yet again, but this time they're going beyond the Mushroom Kingdom into the seven worlds that neighbor it. Now Mario and Luigi™ must battle new enemies, returning favorites and a new Koopaling in each unique and distinctive world on their way to ultimately taking on Bowser himself. Luckily for the brothers, they have more power-ups available than ever before. Fly above the action using the Super Leaf, swim faster by donning the Frog Suit or defeat enemies using the Hammer Bros. Suit. Use the brand-new overworld map to take the chance to play a minigame in hopes of gaining extra lives or to find a Toad's House where you can pick up additional items. All this (and more) combines into one of gaming's most well-known and beloved titles—are you ready to experience gaming bliss?

N + Alien Soldier™

When Seaempty revealed that Paper Mario was coming to the EUVC, I blurted out "GOO!" in my office. I knew it was only a matter of days before it would be released in the US as well.

N + Paper Mario®
Nintendo® 64, 1 player, Rated E for Everyone—Comic Mischief, 1,000 Wii Points
Paper Mario is a graphically innovative game that breaks from the confines of the RPG genre. Now slimmed down, everyone's favorite plumber flips, spins, jumps and hammers his way through scads of exotic worlds that teem with a huge and hugely entertaining supporting cast. Players control numerous old and new characters in a complex, nonlinear story that follows different scenarios depending on player choices. A dizzying collection of spells, attacks, skills and special items can be collected by players willing to thoroughly explore the lush 3-D environments.

N + Balloon Fight®
NES®, 1-2 players, Rated E for Everyone, 500 Wii Points
Control a character to pop your opponents' balloons before they pop yours. Sounds easy, doesn't it? Don't be fooled by this game's simple premise or cute exterior. Underneath you'll find a surprisingly addictive game with strategy to spare. After mastering the easy-to-learn controls, you still have to get a grip on the game's impressively realistic physics. And if that's not enough, there are the ever-increasing enemies and environmental hazards like lightning and water. Try the game's second mode, Balloon Trip, if you feel like taking a break from the action and just want to see how long you can stay aloft. And hey, who doesn't like popping balloons sometimes?

N + Silent Debuggers
TurboGrafx16, 1 player, Rated E for Everyone—Fantasy Violence, 600 Wii Points
Make your way through a dungeon-like space station and defeat the prowling monsters in this real-time first-person shooter. You're a member of the elite Debuggers, a group of warriors who are jacks-of-all-trades. Assigned to inspect an unmanned space station, you have exactly 100 minutes to get in, destroy the monsters lurking in each block, make your way to the lowest level and deactivate the automatic detonator placed there. With each monster that slips by you, the core block becomes harder to survive in, so speed is key in preserving the facility and each separate block. Experience the thrill of survival as the timer ticks away and you uncover the truth of the events that occurred.

The action heats up as the characters fall faster and faster. To save the day, switch and shuffle, and don't let your piles get too high.

N + Air "Zonk" ...um, what?
TurboGrafx16, 1 player, Rated E for Everyone - Mild Cartoon Violence, 600 Wii Points
Air "Zonk" is a spin-off of the popular Bonk's Adventure series. This side-scrolling shooter retains the same cartoonish style of Bonk but is set in a cyberpunk future. The powered-up "Zonk" gathers his friends to form Team Cool, and they set out to stop King Drool's plan to conquer the world. Choose from three levels of difficulty and three Friend Modes. Shoot King Drool's cyber-robots and avoid their attacks while collecting the Air Bones to unleash a variety of unique attacks. Combine with a friend to create an invincible hybrid form or blast enemies with a charged attack. Air "Zonk" is filled with humor, made evident by the wacky theme song that plays when you post a huge score or when your game is over.

Goooold!
Nuggets | Rings | Axes

As the Virtual Console continues to grow beyond it's 100th Nintendo is continuing strong. These three titles each hold a special place in my library. Notably, Sonic 2, as it was the game that brought my sister and I together as a team for the first time because we both wanted to save all those tiny forest creatures, plus that fox has TWO tails! By God two tails!

N + Lode Runner®
NES®, 1-2 players, Rated E for Everyone, 500 Wii Points:
This landmark action-puzzle game has been a worldwide fixture in video games from the moment of its inception until today, producing many sequels and related products along the way. The player controls the hero, or "Runner," who collects gold nuggets located around every stage, all the while avoiding capture by enemy robots. The action itself is simple, but the stages are designed as increasingly challenging puzzles, and none of the 50 stages is as easy as it seems. The Runner avoids enemies by digging holes in the floor to the right and left of his position—by doing this, he can clear a path to places that, at first glance, seem unreachable. Players must use their brains to collect all the gold nuggets in every puzzling stage if they want to escape to the next. In addition to normal play, this version of the game features an Edit Mode that allows players to design their own stages, adding a new level of enjoyment to the game.

N + Sonic the Hedgehog™ 2
Sega Genesis, 1-2 players, Rated E for Everyone, 800 Wii Points:
Dr. Eggman (aka Dr. Robotnik) is back to continue his zealous search for the Chaos Emeralds needed to fuel his new Death Egg contraption. The evil doctor secretly follows Sonic to his vacation spot, Westside Island, and launches a full-scale attack, imprisoning all the helpless animals of the island and turning them into mindless worker drones. Now Sonic must thwart the doctor's plans at all costs. This time he isn't alone, as a peculiar two-tailed fox named Miles Prower (aka Tails) decides to aid him in the battle. Together they must locate the Chaos Emeralds before Dr. Eggman does, and put an end to his diabolical scheme.

N + Golden Axe™ II
Sega Genesis, 1-2 players, Rated E10+ for Everyone 10 and Older – Fantasy Violence, 800 Wii Points:
Not long after the devastating reign of the wicked Death Adder, another evil arose. Dark Guld and his minions invaded and took hold of the prized Golden Axe with plans to destroy it. Once again, as a fierce barbarian named Ax-Battler, a fearless female Amazon known as Tyris-Flare or a ferocious dwarf named Gilius Thunderhead, you will wield steely swords and powerful magic in an all-out war to recover the sword. Once you slash your way through the six side-scrolling levels, you'll get the chance to defeat Dark Guld once and for all.

Three classic games join the ranks of the steadily growing NAVC. From the Nintendo press release this morning:

Mighty Bomb Jack™ (NES®, 1 player, 500 Wii Points)
Mighty Bomb Jack is an action/adventure game that was originally released for the Nintendo Entertainment System in 1987 by Tecmo. The hero of the game, Jack, must make his way through 16 levels of a pyramid in order to defeat the demon Belzebut and rescue the royal Pamera family. Each level is split into two parts; an action zone and a Royal Palace room. Action zones can be split up into several portions, and contain power-ups usually hidden in treasure chests such as money bags, Mighty Coins, and Mighty Drinks. Mighty Coins allow Jack to change colors; blue allows Jack to open orange treasure chests, orange allows him to open any treasure chest by simply touching it from the side, and green transforms all enemies on the screen into coins for 5 seconds. Mighty Drinks add 10 seconds to the game's timer.

Final Fight (Super NES®, 1 player, 800 Wii Points)
Jessica had it all. She was the daughter of former wrestling star and mayor of Metro City Mike Haggar and girlfriend to Cody Travers, one of the coolest and toughest boys around. But now she has been mysteriously kidnapped! Take to the streets with either Haggar or Cody and fight your way across town, deep into the turf of the Mad Gear Gang. As you cross the town, fight with all your strength to save the one you love. Enjoy unmatched beat 'em up action in this arcade classic and discover just who is behind the Mad Gear Gang in what may be Metro City's final fight.

Ordyne™ (TurboGrafx16, 2 players, 600 Wii Points)
Ordyne is a port of the popular side-scrolling arcade shooter that includes simultaneous two-player co-op play as well as impressive visuals and catchy background music. The evil Kubota has kidnapped Dr. Tomari's fiancée, Kana, and taken the colossal nuclear reactor Ordyne. In order to reclaim them, Dr. Tomari and his assistant Felix take to their battleships and head off in pursuit. Avoid enemies and advance through seven different levels that take place on land, sea, and air. Collect crystals from defeated enemies and use them to buy items or upgrades for your ship at the Space Inn. Do you have what it takes to defeat the boss at the end of each level and ultimately reach Kubota in the final stage, Kubota World?

Over 2000 Skill in Wii Sports Get!

    , , , ...

Didn't think you'd see this did you?
Click and Digg this story! - then read!

My long time friend Nick (unfortunate previous reference) ended up getting Wii as a late Christmas gift due to demand/shortages from his awesome wife Holly. I had them over in late November and they fell in love with Wii Sports. Despite Nick literally owning every game system in history through the years that I've know him, Holly was actually more enthusiastic about getting Wii for their home.

She called me for weekly updates on my search to find one for Nick in time for Christmas, but we simply couldn't get one. Since he found one on his own, Nick's been playing Wii Sports on his lunch breaks over the past few weeks to catch up to my 6 week lead. He called me today with some awesome news:

Nick: Nothing happens when you break 2000 in Tennis.

    Me: How do you know?

    Nick: I'm 2024.

Me: WHUAA?! Dude can you send me pics?

He played a few more rounds and just sent these to my phone:

And here showing his skill literally off the chart:

Nick, you are awesome. He also said that he is approaching 2000 in Bowling as well. As many know, you get a [spoiler alert!] special Bowling Ball at Pro level (1000 Points). As far as Tennis goes, Nick says he's been playing the same two people now, at 1900 and 2000 Skill level respectively. How is everyone else doing?
Sorry for the watermarks, but there are a few uncool blogs out there that have already stolen a lot of our images. I stored these here.

Opera Free until Summer 2007 [in Japan], Reporters Jumped the Gun

    , , , ...

Apparently the Opera Web Browser for Wii will be a free download for those who purchase and open thier Wii boxes until Summer 2007 when it will then cost some Wii Points.

Many reporters jumped the gun upon hearing Reggie's explaination at the New York Media Event on September 14th. 1up.com is running a story claiming to be better than everyone for not having made the same mistake. Truth be told, thier site was guilty too, but they updated faster.

The confusion lies in the fact that this is only stated on the Japanese Wii site so far.
