Nintendo drops us a sneak preview of the newest peripheral, and it's an awesome one too! Wanna lightsaber battle, FOR REAL? Want a good Red Steel, where you can sword fight, FOR REAL? Well, OK maybe it's not THAT cool, but it's as close as anyone REALLY wants to get to that. Let's face it, we would all lose against a real Sith! The "Wii Motion +" snaps right onto the bottom of the Wii Remote and give a true 1:1 feedback of the motions the players arm goes through... let the slashing begin! or butter churning, whatever you like I guess. Oh and you CAN connect a nunchuck to this, also that is a new remote jacket.
Nintendo's upcoming Wii MotionPlus accessory for the revolutionary Wii Remote controller again redefines game control, by more quickly and accurately reflecting motions in a 3-D space. The Wii MotionPlus accessory attaches to the end of the Wii Remote and, combined with the accelerometer and the sensor bar, allows for more comprehensive tracking of a player’s arm position and orientation, providing players with an unmatched level of precision and immersion. Every slight movement players make with their wrist or arm is rendered identically in real time on the screen, providing a true 1:1 response in their game play. The Wii MotionPlus accessory reconfirms Nintendo’s commitment to making games intuitive and accessible for everyone. Nintendo will reveal more details about the Wii MotionPlus accessory and other topics Tuesday morning at its E3 media briefing.

Starting to get a little cold; brought out your jacket yet? Show your WiiMote some love too.
We all love free stuff, especially when you can tie that into Nintendo. Our beloved company has done just that, offering free silicone Wii Remote jackets. The jackets will ship with every remote sold after October 15th, and will be available free to people with WiiMotes prior to this date. Ordering a jacket is extremely simple: just go to
http://wii.com and follow the instructions, and your jacket will be shipped on October 15th.
The new accessory is said to provide "cushioning for the Wii Remote for people who might accidentally throw or drop their Wii Remotes while playing games". I'm sure no enplussers have ever had problems with that, but we'll be ordering them just the same.

With Super Paper Mario, there’s more to the game than meets the eye. Sometimes you have to take a closer look and you’ll discover big things in the minor details. The official Super Paper Mario website brings that feel to the web, especially when you use Wii’s Internet Channel.
Ok so check this out...
- In the Wii Menu, open the Internet Channel and find the Nintendo site under your favourites (if you live in Europe, otherwise check out nintendo-europe.com with your Wii).
- The central banner takes you to the Super Paper Mario website.
- Once you’re at the site, look for the icon of the Wii Remote at the top if the page.
- Select that icon to activate the power of Tippi, a Pixl from Super Paper Mario who helps him uncover some of the game’s many secrets.
Super Paper Mario is in shops 14 September for all those Europeans who had to wait. I know some of you imported it, and others in the States played it's wiskers off, but is there anyone who hasn't and is looking forward to this mustachioed gemstone of a game? Thanks Lawrence!

We posted about a Wii Remote dissection back in December. Now Popular Science have produced a pretty flash animation to show how the accelerometers work. It's not only pretty to look at, but it's pretty interesting too! Filled with amazing facts such as:
- An accelerometer consists of a silicon weight—less than one millionth of a gram.
- The accelerometer measures a change in voltage when the weight moves and uses it to calculate the distance the weight has traveled—a matter of no more than five nanometers (hair is around 200 nanometers wide).
- With weights that shift up and down, left and right, and back and forth, the accelerometer measures movement in three dimensions.
- The controller wirelessly sends data about your movement to the main console, which compares your actions with a database of possible swings.
It's fairly old news (we know basically how the Remote works), but it's easy to take such impressive technology for granted.

It's a good site to add as a favorite... Just like N +!

Moderator Seaempty has
already reported about how Nintendo will ship you up to four thick replacement straps for the Wii controllers, and how all you gotta do is ask.
Well, I did ask see, and I got an e-mail responce in three languages (english, french, spanish) telling me that my order was confirmed. When I logged into my Nintendo profile (you all have a Nintendo profile right?) the first thing I noticed when checking my order status was the link name, and any game-afficiendo would appreciate this, .ed, i'm lookin your way bud.
"Get Order" - I know, it's not "Order Get" but it suffices just the same, and brings games one step closer to being real life. The second I have to take a loan from a raccoon, I think I will cry tears of joy. - ANYWAY, here is a direct screen taken off the confirmation page...
Notice how many USD it took? like the free? I do, and I believe the unbroken thin-straps I have now have just become collectible

. The fun add-on though was the "Wii Remote Suggestions Insert", If this thing as much fun as
"Saftey First" inserts, this should be a hilarious ride.
didju order any?

Here and the
press release from Nintendo Europe.
“Our software brings the power and reach of the Internet to the hottest video game system available,” says Scott Hedrick, Executive Vice President, Devices at Opera Software. “Wii’s unique interface adds a new dimension to our browser, making it a useful tool that the whole family will enjoy operating with ease.”
The final version of the Opera browser will be available at the end of March 2007, and will be free for all Wii owners to download through the end of June. After June 2007, the browser will be available for download in the Wii Shop Channel for 500 Wii Points.
The Internet Channel provides an optimal Web browsing experience on people’s home television. The Adobe Flash-enabled trial version of the Opera browser puts the Internet right onto owners’ television screens and lets them browse with ease, enabling them to check sports scores, plot maps or visit their favorite Web sites. Multiple family members can gather around the television to plan a holiday or make online purchases.
The pointing abilities of the Wii Remote allow users to click on links they want to see or to zoom into any part of the screen through the motion of the controller. In addition, the Wii Remote can be used with an on-screen keyboard to make text entry as easy as point and click.

seagull, Grampa, wii, wii sports

Tonight Nintendo made history...
Grampa Seagull wielded the Wiimote like a wrench or a shovel. The man who never deals with tech, besides a regular remote for a tv. He asks me to help him reprogram the remote for his tv everytime the batteries die (its a universal remote). Even though I wrote all 3 steps down for him. He works on older cars and home landscaping. Everything is physical.
But tonight me and my grampa played golf, tennis, and bowling... on Wii.
The getting him to play was a tiny bit of a chore, he was intimidated having never played games in his life, and i mean real games either besides a few card games. The man was a man by the age we reached Power Rangers. He was afraid of looking rediculous. I told him that didnt matter, and offered him a round of tennis. He paused for a second and proposed "how about a round of golf?".
YES! he's down! This was the coolest ever, my Mii and Grampas Mii were hittin' the beginner course. He never got over a bogey on the golf, and his bowling game (first ever) was at 154!
He was about to go to bed before we started playing, but after the 3-holes he wanted to try more! so we went into tennis! he was returning all the balls, but his learning curve on direction is still in effect, although he did beat me during one game. eee, in a month grampa seagull is going to own me at Wii Sports tennis... Then we went to bowling where he learned he had a right curve, and I was shocked at his score. We only played one round of bowling before we turned it off. I asked him if he liked it..
"Yeah, but it looks like Im going to have to improve my score" - do i sense an implication for more?!
Wii seriously hit where it wanted to. it got my grampa into games. I can't wait till they release the software specifically made for grampas. I mean tailor made grampa stuff, slower paced than wii sports, but just as addicting.
N
+ click the grampa for the updated Official-Wii site, with tons more videos!

So we now know Wii will control your life, offering local weather, news, shopping, web, photocasting, photoediting and way more... but this Mii Channel has me freaking out all over!
use your Mii created people in games, load onto remote and take with you (who called it).
But...well... Just watch the video!
http://www.wii.com/en_US/movies/miichannel/Fun 3-D caricatured portraits of users, or Miis, created in this channel can be used on characters across a variety of Wii software. In addition to storing Miis on the Wii, several Miis can be stored in a user’s Wii Remote and taken to a friend’s house to play on another Wii console. Each member of the family can have his or her Wii Remote personalized with their own Mii.
I was so dead on.
OMG?!
