, , ,

First of all: Our Source.

  • Supports 1080p for Blu-ray movies and games
  • Trade Wii in, get discount on Wii2
  • Will be announced one month before the simultaneous scheduled Q3, 2010 world release
To the right you can see my concept art for the Wii2. You can also see my theories on how to improve upon the Wii
  • Moustache and Beard
  • Shoots laser beams out of the power button
  • Chainsaw (for fighting hoards of zombies)
  • Bobba Fett flamethrower arm
How would YOU improve the Wii?

Rumor: Charles Martinet Teases New Mario Game?

, , , ...

Twitter can be an absolutely amazing service. That said, it's not always the most reliable source of news. That's why this story is marked as a rumor; one I'm reluctant to post.

If this Twitter account, supposedly that of voice actor Charles Martinet, is real, then we have quite an interesting story on our hands. Martinet, who voices several characters for Nintendo, including Mario, Luigi, Wario, and Waluigi, dropped some major Mario-related news over the past week:

Mama Mia!!!! I'm going to Seattle this week to record a new Mario game! Woo Hooo!!!!! I can hardly wait!!!!1

Big day tomorrow! Seattle for a new Mario game! Yippee!!! And just as a joke, it's going to rain....in San Francisco tomorrow!

Awesome new Mario Game! And it's not NSMB Wii, and it's not Galaxy 2, but it's going to be crazy fun!

Even if the Twitter account is real, I wouldn't get my hopes up just yet. Martinet could always be teasing Mario Party 9.

Rumor: New DS By 2010; Powered By nVidia's Tegra Chip

, , , ...

This is a rumor that has been around for a few days now, but yesterday it became a very much discussed topic on the net, the rumor: there is a DSi successor already in the works, and it will be released by the end of 2010 (that's next year, folks!).

Nintendo, according to the 'anonymous sources' quoted on BSN's report, is already working on the next DS handheld console and is planning to release it by the end of next year (probably just in time for the Holiday rush).

To fuel the rumor even more, there's also talk about nVidia's newly announced next generation of their single-chip solution, Tegra (available early 2010) will be the processor of choice for Nintendo's new baby. This came in as a result of nVidia's CEO, Jen-Hsun Huang's bold remarks that Tegra would account for 50% of their revenues in the next few years. nVidia and Nintendo partnered up last March to allow Wii developers to have access to nVidia's PhysX SDK, so the possibility of a new partnership is not so out of place. And the cherry on top is the rumor that, should the next DS use Tegra, it would be DS compatible. (pictured DS is a fan concept)

Castlevania: The Adventure ReBirth Surfaces in Famitsu

, , ,

The Internet and Famitsu have done it, once more. Konami has NOT officially announced the game yet, but that didn't stop the tattletale ESRB from rating it. Then Nintendo thought it would be cool to add the game's release to its calendar. Now, Famitsu surfaces with ACTUAL imagery and details on the game. Seems like Konami is falling behind.

Of course, the game is a remake, and is part of the ReBirth series Konami is set upong (such as the one from Contra), so this probably won't be the last ReBirth title in the series. For this instance, it is a remake/reimagining of GameBoy's Castlevania:The Adventure, replacing ropes with stairs (handy!).

The game is set to be released in Japan by October 27th, and Nintendo lists the release for Q3 2009 in the US. So stay tuned, we might get the game just in time for Halloween. The title will set you back 1,000 points.

Rumor: Epic Blunder (UPDATE: NOT ANYMORE)

, , ,

Cross everything out. GameInformer has confirmed that the game IS a Wii-exclusive title, and it was hoping to keep the exclusive news to itself... Well, the Internet has done it again.
Epic blunder it is... According to 1UP, the 'fact' that Epic Mickey was a Wii-exclusive title, might have been a drawn-too-soon conclusion. They say that, although early leaks from the publications stated that the game was a Wii exclusivity, all references to such fact have been removed from the actual number, suggesting that the game is now looking to launch in different consoles.

The war is on.

Rumor: New DSi Colors for Europe

, , , ...

Rejoice, Europe! You're getting shiny, new colors for your DSi! If the rumors are true, of course... According to reports from a Nintendo distributor, three new colors will be available for DSi shoppers by the end of October (on the 23rd to be exact if the report is accurate). Now Euro gamers will have blue, navy, and red on their DSi to choose from.

While the fact that around this time Sony will be releasing the PSPgo and would make it look as a move for Nintendo to boost DSi sales and beat the PSPgo, reports that the aforementioned handheld is dead before it even arrives (retailers refusing to stock Sony's new mini-wonder, pre-orders not even being touched, distributors refusing to give publicity, mixed reviews, and insanely high pricing) make it look as if this was not the true reason why the colors would be released.

Bear in mind that Nintendo has NOT made an official announcement yet, so take this as is: RUMOR.

Rumor: Best Wii Buy

, , , ...

First it was Toys R Us, then it was Target... This time, it's Best Buy who comes into the Wii price-drop rumor confirmation with this leaked BestBuy printed ad, apparently coming from an inside source.

Everything points towards a new US$200 price point for the Wii, in what would be an obvious response to Sony's lower PS3 price tag and subsequent Microsoft's XBox 360 reaction to match it. Is this lower price a permanent thing? Is it just a seasonal promotion? Are these VERY early Thanksgiving offers? Is Santa Claus waking up early this year? You be the judge...

Rumor: New Fuel to Wii Price Drop

, ,

The 'Wii will drop it's price by US$50' bonfire is receiving a second batch of fresh, gasoline-soaked combustibles in the form of printed publicity by Target.

A new leaked ad from Target, just like the one from Toys R Us, shows the Wii being sold at US$199, fifty dollars less than the current MSRP of US$250, strongly suggesting that the Wii price-drop is real and bound to happen soon.

To add 'realism' to the ad, the DVD shown on the right is Dreamworks' "Monsters VS Aliens", which is slated to be released on September 29th.

"Okamiden" is a DS game

, , , ...

New Famitsu scans have surfaced through the Net revealing what could be the speculated Okami sequel 'revealed' last week, "Okamiden". If the scans are real (although you can't really see a title in them), then such a sequel would be in reality a DS game.

The artwork does seem to be Okami-like and it looks quite beautiful! The DS is, after all, a more suitable console for the brushstroke game mechanics inherent to Okami. Even though this DS game would make me happy, ANOTHER Wii one would really make me happiER :D

UPDATE: Capcom has confirmed the game to be a DS reality. It will be titled "Okamiden: Chiisaki Taiyo" (Okami Legend: The Small Sun). Via 1up. (Thanks, LastSheikah!)

Rumor: Okami Sequel

, , ,

The game was great, no doubt about it. However, as it is becoming an usual story for third-party developers, Okami didn't do so well sales-wise on the Wii. That's why it comes as a surprise that Capcom filed a patent for a game titled "Okamiden".

According to Siliconera, it could be short for Okami Gaiden (Okami Sidestory) or Okami Densetsu. Now, before we get all too excited, let's remember that Okami for Wii has NOT been released in Japan, yet! It comes out on October 15th over there, so this patent COULD have something to do with that launch and not a sequel.

Rumor: Wii Bike Peripheral Leaked

, , ,

Well, this is just turning ridiculous. First, it was the horse riding peripheral that boggled us earlier this week; now, it's a 90-dollar piece of equipment to simulate bike riding (with three different resistance levels). Will the peripherals for the Wii never end?! Make a GOOD game that uses ONE of them instead of making the Wii the most expensive cheap console, thanks to useless, pricey 'extensions'! ¬.¬ I mean, a regular bike (or even a static bike) goes for around that price!

Granted, this is just a rumor. But if it ever turns out to be true, that would be just the drop needed to overfill my glass. The image portrays what, according to NeoGAF user, Kswinston, is a business market-research presentation that reveals the bike peripheral.

BBQ-making?! Seriously?! Walk your dog?! GO WALK YOUR REAL DOG, FOR CRYING OUT LOUD!!! ¬.¬'

Rumor: Epic Mickey Details

, , ,

Remember how yesterday some artwork pieces surfaced, supposedly revealing Warren Spector's next project, "Epic Mickey"? And how this game was supposed to be a Wii exclusive? Well, CVG has posted some info that backs this up.

According to the site, and citing an anonymous source, the game's mechanics will involve the player painting over the game's levels (a-la Okami, or Drawn to Life) to get ahead, which only fuels the veracity of the game being Wii-only (as it would heavily rely on a pointing device).

This 'painting your way' involves you drawing, etching and erasing whole or parts of levels as you go. We've also been told that it'll be based around very old and/or forgotten Disney characters who are out to get their revenge on Mickey, presumably because they're jealous of all his fame and fortune.

You must admit the story would be cool if it turned out to be real. Also, to back it up, and if you look closely at the image, the letters OSW and the image of an old bunny can be seen on the rocket (Oswald, the Lucky Rabbit; an old Disney character).

SpeculatioN+: Professor Layton 2 Coming This August

,

If you believe in magic, Santa Claus, the Tooth Fairy, and Shiggy Miyamoto's next Wii Zelda (ouch!), then you can rejoice at how the world conspired to make this happen: Professor Layton And the Diabolical Box (creepy name, huh?) is coming by the end of August.

Of course, the world is not perfect nor is the magic in it. This is PURELY a rumor started by the fact that Amazon posted the game as releasing on August 24th at 30 bucks. Of course, after this was spotted, the buzz around the Net came aflutter, and just as quickly, Amazon mysteriously removed the page as well (I'd provide you with the link, but what's the point? It's no longer available).

So, what do you guys think? Real release date or just a blunder? I hope it's a real one

Speculation: Pikmin News Soon

, , , ...

We just won't let up with the teasing today will we? First, we hear about the possible Gold and Silver re-makes, and now it looks like Pikmin 3 news COULD be coming next month - IF we decide to follow what most people think is a purple Pikmin hiding in the grass of a "next month" teaser picture printed by Edge Magazine. Here you can see the full ad and a closeup of the purple shape in question.

Gah! What do you think this is? What do you HOPE it is? Or hope it isn't?

Rumor: New Pokemon Games

, , , ...

Is it a new generation of Pokemon games? Or is it the remake of Gold and Silver EVERYONE who played G&S(&C) has been waiting for? Or is it a Wii game? Is it crap like Pokemon Dash 2? Or is it just a plain ole crap rumor started by some jerk ass kid somewhere in the land of our interwebs? All I can say is that the peculiar party balls on the ceiling of this picture are Gold and Silver, and thats enough to get my hopes up - which isn't alot is it? Bulba Garden says these two balls are going to open on May 10th to reveal a "Big Pokemon Game". The event is going to happen on somoe sort of Pokemon TV show... Hmmm... Well I guess we will have to wait and see. Coro Coro Magazine (respectable) is also said to be publishing some kind of Pokemon news on the 15th.
