It's probably a good thing, then, that Sonic is returning to his roots. In a title codenamed Project Needlemouse, the Blue Blur will return to his 2D home. The teaser video above also mentions HD graphics, but that shouldn't disqualify Wii just yet - we wouldn't be surprised to see a downgraded version for Nintendo's console.
We'll keep you updated as the game's 2010 release date draws nearer.
The tennis season is in full swing, and those unable (or, as in my case, not fit enough) to get out and hit a few balls around, can turn to their consoles for their tennis fix. Virtua Tennis 2009 is the latest iteration of the arcade classic to hit home consoles, and the Wii version takes full advantage of Nintendo's new MotionPlus feature. The prospect of 1:1 responsive gameplay and playing with Ana Ivanovic was more than enough reason for N+ to see what VT2009 can serve up.
The gaming industry was abuzz at this year's E3, with news of Microsoft's Project Natal and its promise to deliver gaming without having to touch a controller. Just two weeks after E3, though, Sega and developer Prope beat Microsoft to the punch with the release of Let's Tap, an innovative Wii game controlled entirely by tapping one's fingers. An interesting idea, to be sure, but how does it play? Read on to find out.
First off, I would like to apologize for the lack of updates on my part. It has been a rough couple of weeks for me... from my birthday to my uncle dying to one of my friends having surgery. But hopefully things will only go up hill from here!
But today I was birthday shopping for my sisters boyfriend and guess what I found? A copy of The Conduit! I went to Target, Wal-Mart, Gamestop, and my work (Sam's Club) and they were all sold out! I finally found a copy (their last one BTW) at Best Buy. Apparently, this game is pretty big! It reached the Top 20 at Amazon and is sold out at Walmart.com!
I have put a good hour into it, and it is AWESOME! If you haven't picked up your copy yet, I would strongly suggest that you do so!
If you have picked it up, what do you think of the game so far? We would love to hear your thoughts on the game in the comments!
The spiky, blue guy is no longer a kid and a legal adult in most parts of the world (although he can't go around 'livin' la vida loca' in Vegas just yet). Let's hope that with adulthood, good games come too. Sega, we NEED a GOOD Sonic game... please... PLEASE! (And no, Sonic Unleashed 2 is NOT what we have in mind...)
Sega and High Voltage Software held an event tonight to show off the multiplayer modes in The Conduit to select media outlets (no, we're not there...). IGN just posted a "Multiplayer Trailer", which you can see below. Multiplayer screenshots can be found here.
I haven't even watched the trailer yet - I saw it posted on IGN and rushed to post it here for you guys. I'm off to watch it now...
EDIT: IGN's embed code apparently isn't working, but you can check out the trailer directly at IGN.
Allright, just so we can be clear, I'm not sure if this is an April's Fool joke or not. According to a lot of postings and scans out there, Sega has announced in the latest Famitsu that it will be releasing Puyo Puyo 7 in Japan. The falling-objects-and-matching-colors puzzle game will see the light on Wii, DS/DSi, and PSP.
The DS version, reports say, will come out by the end of July, while the other two consoles will have to wait until the end of the year. As for an overseas version of the game, no official announcement has been made.
Now, the thing that keeps me wondering if it's a joke or not, is that IGN claims that THIS is the overly teased "Project Ringo" from Sega. They say the number "247" is a play on the sound of "PUYO PUYO 7". Now, the official Project Ringo site is still showing the same animation as before and still claims that the game won't be revealed until next Friday (April 3rd). So, who knows? Maybe it is, maybe it's not.
Sega is already getting on my nerves with the now excessive teasers to their new "Project Ringo". And now, the site dedicated to the project is, yet again, showing a teaser and not any actual, useable information about the game (if it is a game at all).
This time around, they show, at least, a full shot of the main character: a schoolgirl with red hair. Apparently, whatever this project is, it will involve some sort of Math material (or at least some educational one). The setting is still a classroom, and it now also shows a computer screen glowing in front of the girl. The number "247", once more, makes an appearance, although this time the number resulting from the square root is not EXACTLY 247, but 24247.
Anyway, the last image (shown here), thanks you for your patience but hits you in the gut by making you wait some more; April 3rd. will be the next release. Will it be another teaser? Will they actually reveal real info? Whatever they do, at this point, it won't be as good as it has built up in my mind...
Weird entry this week. The Guinness World Book of Records has just recognized Sega's House of the Dead: Overkill as the World's most profane videogame (take that, Grand Theft Auto!).
Now, this is not only surprising for a videogame (the 'award' has been given out in the past to the film industry and printed media, but it is the first time it falls on the videogame industry to hold such a title), but also because the game is released for a console that is commonly associated (and very much taunted for it) with "Family Friendly" games. Another 'coolness' factor is that this is given out to a game distributed by Sega, Nintendo's former archenemy, which now seems to be the top developer/distributor for hardcore games for the Wii (MadWorld, which is not only bloody and stylized, is also filled with 'F' bombs; the Conduit, a highly anticipated shooter is also coming out this year, courtesy of Sega).
It is a dubious honour to receive such an accolade working in an industry where so often the fruits of your labours are derided and dismissed for being puerile or irresponsible, but in the case of The House of the Dead: OVERKILL a little puerility was the order of business. Parodying the profane excess of grindhouse cinema was Headstrong Games' objective and I am flattered that this record acknowledges that we not only rose to that challenge, but entirely exceeded it. - Jonathan Burroughs, Headstrong Games.
Hey guys, it's your Captain back with another musician N+erview. This time though, we've got Doujah Raze, one of the Hip Hop musicians who worked on MadWorld, which just released yesterday in North America! A word of caution before you cross the line: language is used "freely". For the most part, it's pretty clean, but if you are easily offended watch out as one or two words might spark something. Now, enough of the small talk, "Read more..." about the music behind the game, and the artist behind the music!
Yesterday, SEGA announced its plans to bring a eccentric Wii game called Let's Tap to the United States and Europe. Created by Sonic creator Yuji Naka, Let's Tap offers a new method of control: tapping. With five mini-games that have you racing through a course or balancing blocks, Let's Tap is controlled entirely by placing the WiiMote down on a flat surface and tapping.
Let's Tap is on track for American and European releases this summer.
Looking for some Sega music to put on your iPod? Then check out this fan album of songs that pay tribute to many Sega Genesis games! From Sonic to Moonwalker to Streets of Rage to Toejam and Earl, there is bound to be one or two of these songs that will trigger some memories from back in the day! You may remember a post written earlier this week about a teaser site for a mystery Sega game (with mushrooms). Luckily for us, Japanese gaming magazine Famitsu has put the speculation to rest.
The game in question, titled Pole's Big Adventure, is a WiiWare title from the producer of Phantasy Star Universe. With 8-bit graphics, side-scrolling gameplay, and over 100 gags (parodies of classic games), Pole's Big Adventure will set you back 500 Wii Points and will debut on the Japanese WiiWare service on February 3.
The official unveil for the title will come Friday at the site previously mentioned.
Yesterday there was SpeculatioN+. If you explore the countdown there are ...oddities. The countdown ends on Friday, and is on a Sega website.
This other countdown also ends Friday, but is on a Marvelous Entertainment website, the developer of No More Heroes, and creator of our beloved Travis Touchdown (twitter link). This other countdown, on the Marvelous Entertainment site, seems to have a Legend of Zelda look to it, while the Sega countdown has a Mario-esque feel. Could Sega be publishing a Marvelous developed title? ...And is it at all related to the Nintendo franchises?
