Wii Sport a Lot of Money

, , , ...

No surprise here: Wii Sports Resort has sold a lot of copies. In great contrast with past declarations of bad Wii sales and lowering earnings forecast for the company, Nintendo has informed investors it's top selling software, confirming that Wii Sports Resort has sold nearly 7 million copies to date, and the original Wii Sports nearing the 51-million-copies mark.

Following those games, Wii Fit stands at 22.5 million copies sold, Mario Kart Wii at 18.4 million, Wii Play 24.4 million, and Wii Fit Plus 2.13 million.

On the DS front, New Super Mario Bros. (with a long-awaited Wii 'sequel' coming up this month) is nearing 20 million copies sold. Mario Kart DS sales have hit 16.1 million, Tomodachi Collection 1.45 million and Professor Layton and Pandora's Box is at 1.26 million.

Opera For Wii is Free Again

, , ,

Once upon a time, the Wii Internet Channel was free. Yup, you could download it without paying for it. It seemed the fair thing to do. But then, corporate greed kicked in and Nintendo began charging five US dollars for the Opera-powered Wii browser. That has been the story so far...until now, that is. Nintendo is backing up and is offering the Internet Channel for free, again.

And to compensate to those who were late to the party and actually paid the five bucks for the download, they will show their apologies by offering a free, yet-unnanounced, yet-unreleased NES game. Such game will be available as of October, and although the release says it will be a sort of compensation for those who paid for the channel, it is unclear if the VC download will be available to those who also downloaded the channel for free.

UPDATE: The NES game will be one of your choice. Also, the Internet Channel for current owners has been updated, now boasting Flash Lite 3.1 (your Wii should have started to give that familiar blue glow by now).

The Conduit 'Manual' Leaked Online

, , , ...

The Conduit has to be one of my most anticipated titles on Wii. We've posted a bit about it before ... but not much. Recently, it's been revealed in interviews and such that High Voltage is going to include three online multiplayer modes, as well as online voice chat - which would be a first for the Wii. High Voltage really is going for a 360-like experience with The Conduit.

But now, the meat of this post. The 'manual' for the game was leaked online this week, and it features a -ton- of information and art from the game. All of the art looks amazing, except for the somewhat drab environments...

To briefly summarize the story, Washington, D.C. is under attack by an alien race codenamed the Drudge. Mr. Ford, equipped with standard weapons and a device known as the All-Seeing Eye, is on a mission to uncover information regarding the attack and eradicate the country of The Drudge. The fate of the nation rests in his hands.

I hate to say it again, but this game really has a Metroid vibe - some of the enemies look like they were ripped right out of the Prime games - but hey, that's a good thing!

High Voltage Software's awesome tube shooter was supposed to release with the launch of WiiWare, but it was delayed indefinitely. I've been complaining about it ever since.

High Voltage announced today that the game will finally be released on the WiiWare service on Monday, June 23. Several details of the game were announced in a press release, which you can read after the break. I highly recommend you check out the trailer below, and consider purchasing the game when it releases.
