VGTribune.com Zelda Marthon Follow-Up

, , , ...

On Friday, G-Off let you know about a Zelda marathon that the guys at VGTribune.com were hosting over the weekend. It's Sunday and the marathon is almost over. It doesn't look like they're going to finish all the games (they're still on Wind Waker), but it's still great fun if you need something to do.

Be sure to check it out at http://www.ustream.tv/channel/vgtribune. G-Off is in the chat as GeoffGiradrin and I'm lutherjw. Drop by and say hello!

VGTribune holding a Zelda Marathon

, , , ...

The boys over at VGTribune.com are holding a little Zelda marathon. Well, not so little. They are trying to get through all four 3D Zelda games - That's Ocarina of Time, Majora's Mask, Wind Waker, and Twilight Princess - before Sunday night. And the best part? They are broadcasting the whole thing LIVE on ustream.tv!

Here's the link: http://www.ustream.tv/channel/vgtribune - I'm in the chatroom as 'GeoffGirardin' these guys are hilarious and definitely know their Zelda facts. Right now they are about to go tackle Jabu-Jabu's Belly. Check it out!

Update: You can digg the story over at, well, Digg: http://digg.com/nintendo/VGTribune_com_Legend_of_Zelda_Marathon

Zelda Wins At GDC

, , , ...

The Legend of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass is a fantastic game. That pesky Temple of the Ocean King stopped it being a great game for me, but that still didn't stop it winning the "Best Handheld Game" Game Developers Choice Award at the 2008 Game Developers Conference.

It wasn't all good, however, as Ninty missed out on the Best Game of the Year and Best Game Design, both for Super Mario Galaxy.

Greatest Halftime Show Ever

, , , ...

At a California vs. Washington State football game, one school band let their gaming sides show. With a wonderful medley of retro gaming tunes, along with moves to match them, this is the greatest halftime show ever. It is near perfect, there are only two sketchy parts that I don't understand/the messed up a bit. Just before the Pokemon bit, they made some symbol. I have no idea what it might be (then again, the video is viewing it upside down). And also during the Mario theme, they flubbed it a bit. I play the drums, so that combined with OCD and being a hardcore Nintendo fan makes me notice the imperfection. But, it is still loads better than what other bands may come up with.

Zelda Feather Styli Being Shipped

, , , ...

Earlier today, I got an e-mail saying my Feather Stylus had been shipped and would arrive within six weeks. So what do I expect when a brown package arrives from Nintendo? Turns out I got the stylus in the mail today.

The packaging is rather hard to open unless you have a pocket knife handy. Once you get inside the brown box, there's a yellow envelope. Inside of that is an awesome Zelda box, which slips off a white box. The clear feather stylus (FINALLY) rests inside of that white box.

If you registered your copy of Phantom Hourglass on Nintendo.com and took the brief survey, you should be receiving yours soon.

Check after the break for some more pictures.

Zelda Preorder Case Released Soon?

, , , ...

Word on the street (DSFanboy actually) is that the the special Phantom Hourglass DS Case will be availible for purchase soon. It seems the company that makes the cases is redoing their online store, and lists the case as an item. No word yet on pricing or anything, considering there hasn't been any official confirmation either way.

Hit the jump for some pictures of the case.

Link's Crossbow Training Confirmed

, , , ...

Yes, the rumors are true. The Wii Zapper will be released bundled with Link's Crossbow Training.

Nintendo just sent out a press release confirming the (mini)game, and a date of November 19 and price of $19.99. Sounds pretty sweet to me, and I'd be willing to pay 20 bucks for it.

Hit the jump for the full press release.

Rumour Mill: Link's Crossbow Training

, ,

I'm labeling this as a rumour because I still don't know if I belive it. Apparently Destructoid has gotten some inside information about the Wii Zapper game bundle. It seems to be a game entitled Link's Crossbow Training, and it runs on the Twilight Princess engine. You control Link, and he, well he has a crossbow. Then you use the Wii Zapper and train with it. It's really very obvious. The game will be $19.99, and ships out in October.

RW Tuesday: Legend of Zelda, Ocarina of Time (N64)

, , , ...

Every Monday Nintendo adds a few more games to their U.S. list of Virtual Console games. These games are downloadable from the Wii Shop Channel. The games come from a list consisting of the original Nintendo Entertainment System, the Super Nintendo, Sega Genesis, Turbo Graphix, and the Nintendo 64.

Every Tuesday N+ provides you with one "Retro Wiiview" of one game off of the list. The Retro Wiiview is designed to introduce young or new players to some of the "classics" that made gaming what it is today, while also providing a reminder to those who have already played these games, how much fun they really had. This way, whenever you want to download a new VC title, you can have at least one place to turn to see if it was good before you spend those Wii-Points. "Read More" for the "Wednesday Edition" review...

This weeks' game: Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time
Game Price: 1,000 Wii points
ESRB Rating: E for Everyone

The Phantom Hourglass Begins To Countdown

, , , ...

Today I went on Play Asia to pre-order my copy of The Legend of Zelda: The Phantom Hourglass because it's been given a release date in the US!

Mark this date in your calendars: 1st October 2007. As an added bonus, "My Nintendo members who register the game and their Nintendo DS hardware at MyNintendo.com and fill out a short survey will receive a special Nintendo DS stylus that looks like an old-fashioned quill pen, modeled after an item in the game". Nice, eh?

No news on an EU date as yet, but that's not too much of a problem with the DS's awesome region free goodness.

Read more for the full press release, and a sneaky piece of info regarding Metroid Prime: Corruption.

Oh and thanks to Lutherjw for pointing this out in our forum (although I posted this before I saw it  )

OoT On Top

, , , ...

"Influential" UK Magazine Edge has made a list of the top 100 games ever made. Predictably Ocarina of Time takes the top spot. Not to belittle this achievement, as it is a great honour to be voted the best videogame EVER MADE by 1000s of the magazine's readers, it's been a common view amongst people who have played it, and compiled these lists. It says something about the game that I'm being so blasé about this achievement, but it's not the first time that it's been given this accolade.

What I found more interesting about the list, is the number of Nintendo titles that made the top ten.

  1. The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time (Nintendo 64)
  2. Resident Evil 4 (GameCube, PlayStation 2)
  3. Super Mario 64 (Nintendo 64)
  4. Half-Life 2 (PC)
  5. Super Mario World (Super Nintendo)
  6. The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past (Super Nintendo)
  7. Halo: Combat Evolved (Xbox)
  8. Final Fantasy XII (PlayStation 2)
  9. Tetris (Various)
  10. Super Metroid (Super Nintendo)

Although RE4 and (to an extent) Tetris are not made by Nintendo, both games made their debuts on a Nintendo console.
