It's on like .com - Donkey Kong's "Hoard of Hype"

, , , , , ,

Donkey Kong's latest prospect undoubtedly seeks to eclipse the buzz surrounding other Wii titles announced at E3 this year (although perhaps only because it is one of the last to be released this year). I've certainly heard more hype about this game than I'd expected, with even Game Informer predicting that it will drastically outperform the original. As if to add jet fuel to the inferno of anticipation that already surrounds this title, Nintendo has included the following tidbit of information in it's latest "Weekly Downloads" email circular:

As you can see below, the website is an informational page with media galleries, descriptions of some of the game's features, and various external links.

However, if you're not satisfied with just receiving a free banana hammock from GameStop's giveaway happy you can enter Nintendo's official (awesome) contest by clicking the Hoard of Hype link which I've circled.

You can enter by adding to Donkey Kong's banana hoard. As you stay on the Hoard of Hype page, you will notice bananas and banana bunches dropping into the boxed area. If you mouse over these, you will see that each represents a tweet made within the last 24 hours which contains the hash tag #dkhoard and the Word of the Day from either the same or previous day. There are also green bananas which link to wallpaper downloads. You can enter your own tweet using the form on the page once you've signed into your Twitter account.

You can only get one Tweet entry per day, but if someone refers you when they tweet, you can earn up to 12 entries per week.

13 winners will each receive the following prize package: (1) limited edition Red Wii™ system package (approx. retail value (ARV): $200) and one (1) copy of the Donkey Kong Country™ Returns video game for the Wii™ system (ARV: $50). Sweepstakes continues until Jan. 29, 2010.

Don't forget to check out the video gallery for awesome clips, including gameplay showcasing the Kongs' new abilities.
