Mega Man 9 Headed to WiiWare

, , , , , , , , ,

Mega awesome. (see what I did there?) The newest edition of Nintendo Power confirmed that Mega Man 9 is coming to Wii via the WiiWare service, and best of all, the Blue Bomber is going back to his roots. Way back.

As you can see from the screenshot above, Mega Man 9 will be a 2D sidescroller with 8-bit graphics, 8-bit cutscenes, and NES style music. The game is being developed by Inti Creates, the people behind the Mega Man Zero/ZX games. Robot masters include Magma Man, Galaxy Man, Jewel Man, Concrete Man, Hornet Man, Plug Man, Tornado Man, and possibly Splash Woman.

Check after the break for more scans from Nintendo Power.

never thought I'd be excited for an 8-bit style game in this day of polygonal splendour. I'll be keeping an eye on this one.

I must agree that I'd never have expected anyone to do any NEW 8-bit-like games :S

This Looks Dope!

If they ever release a DKC4 in Snes style I will have a total nerdgasm or twelve.

I want a new DKC!! And a new Killer Instinct! (But with Wii graphics...)

I would love to see a DKC4 in SNES graphics.. But aren't the original creators ( Rare), like nowhere to be found? Cause I do remember reading that most of the original staff of Rare has left. Also, it ain't a true DKC game without the original music composer David/Dave Wise.

Wiidark: They are to be found, on XBOX360 though. I guess MS bought them? BanjoKazooie Nuts and Bolts is coming soon, they also did Kameo and PerfectDarkZero - Both of which were very underwhelming.

I can't wait for this. I hope more info gets released soon. Plus with it being WiiWare it's be nice if they stuck some extra game-play features in, like collectibles etc...

CaptainSeagull: I might get Banjo Kazooie 3 for the sake of it being the true sequel of part two. Though some people have their doubts about the game since many think the original staff who made the first two have left the building or it it due to the fact that so far Rare hasn't made a good game in a while.
