Nintendo 3DS Dated, Priced, Colored... Delayed In Europe and US

, , , ,

The word is out: Nintendo has set a date and a price tag to their upcoming handheld, the 3DS. However, they also announced that the console would be released at a later date in non-Japanese markets. Bummer.

The company revealed that their newest baby would be out on shelves by February 26th, 2011 and it will carry a heavy price tag: 25,000 Yen (around US$300), so apparently that German tabloid got the date sooooo wrong, but almost got it right on the price. However, the Big N also announced that the console wouldn't be released until about March in Europe and the US.

The console will be released with two versions available at launch: Aqua Blue and Cosmo Black. So the red version is a no-go sad

Keep in mind though that the converted Yen to Dollars amount has almost never been equal when launching here, even though in Japan it would cost $300 here it may still be $200

Ooooh, let's hope so...

"Delayed" implies it originally had an earlier release date. Nintendo have never been one for simultaneous worldwide releases.

I NEED a redesign. I can't bring myself to pay 200-250$ on a Cadillac CTS grilled cheese sandwich Polly Pocket looking system with 5 kinds of buttons, sliders, and a 'gem' polished look.

That aside, I like it a lot.

It is 'delayed' because the system was expected to be ready for the Holiday Season...

I wanna know what the CPU is and if it will have a media player... (I know it plays movies, what about songs, a la iTouch)

@ Daniel Hendrycks: It will have an audio player like DSi - maybe an improved version, but at least like DSi
