Sakurai and Nintendo Team Up to Form Project Sora

It's kind of sad when a random day in February has more news than an E3 press conference. Nevertheless, we have some more major news to report today.
Last night, Nintendo announced the formation of "Project Sora", a new first-party development studio formed as a result of a partnership between Nintendo and Masahiro Sakurai. Sakurai, as I'm sure many of you know, is the creator of the much-loved Smash Bros. and Kirby franchises.
We unfortunately don't know, um, anything about what Project Sora is working on, other than the fact that they are indeed working on a new title. We also know that the project is not Smash Bros., is being marketed at the "hardcore", and is apparently something that will revolutionize the way you play games.
You can check out the official (Japanese) site here, along with an English translation of the Iwata Asks interview here.
Speculation? I'm betting we'll see something out of Project Sora at this year's GDC conference, which Iwata is headlining.

One minute I send a request to Ninty and they reply with "we've passed on your request to the next level blah de blah". A fortnight later Reggie Fils-Aime expresses his thoughts on user-generated content and now Project Sora. "Nintendo wanted to make it but they couldn't" sounds like it; they couldn't make it because they'd end up putting in Mario or Zelda AND the best level creator to date has to be Brawl's. So are all these points just a mere coincidence? I think not!!
