Sega to Publish Gladiator AD, Now Tournament of Legends

It appears that Sega has not had enough of High Voltage's developments and is now willing to invest into one more of their titles: Tournament of Legends.

Once pitched to investors and presented to the press as "Gladiator AD", the game created a lot of buzz at last year's E3 and then kinda went quiet (who could blame them after seeing the disappointing sales of once-the-most-awaited-for-game-for-the-Wii The Conduit). Well, it now resurfaced with Sega's announcement that it will be picking up the publishing rights to the game and is now calling it something different: "Tournament of Legends" (if you ask me, I liked the old name better).

With Tournament of Legends, we want to take the Wii weapon-based fighting to a bigger place. Along with a wide selection of blade weapons and animated magic attacks we've achieved rich graphical effects and detailed, epic characters with the Quantum 3 engine. The mythological characters are some of the biggest 3D playable characters on Wii. - Eric Nofsinger, High Voltage's COO

It seems that Sega is still betting on 'mature games' for the Wii and is not being let down by not-so-encouraging sales (The Conduit, MadWorld, House of the Dead...). The game is set to be released on May 18th in the US.
