I've found an wonderful video made by Warchamp7, a member of SmashBrawlRankings.com, that shows the evolution of Mario through his various platformers, leading right up to Smash Bros. Brawl. Accompanied with Matchbox Twenty's How Far We've Come, this video is incredibly excellent. It is also coupled with a post by SBR member Supra which is a great fan's take on how Mario has evolved over the years.

Again, I can't see it at work, I'll have to wait until I get home... But man! I had totally forgotten that Mario actually appeared in Atari first!!!
