The Conduit 'Manual' Leaked Online

, , , , , , ,

The Conduit has to be one of my most anticipated titles on Wii. We've posted a bit about it before ... but not much. Recently, it's been revealed in interviews and such that High Voltage is going to include three online multiplayer modes, as well as online voice chat - which would be a first for the Wii. High Voltage really is going for a 360-like experience with The Conduit.

But now, the meat of this post. The 'manual' for the game was leaked online this week, and it features a -ton- of information and art from the game. All of the art looks amazing, except for the somewhat drab environments...

To briefly summarize the story, Washington, D.C. is under attack by an alien race codenamed the Drudge. Mr. Ford, equipped with standard weapons and a device known as the All-Seeing Eye, is on a mission to uncover information regarding the attack and eradicate the country of The Drudge. The fate of the nation rests in his hands.

I hate to say it again, but this game really has a Metroid vibe - some of the enemies look like they were ripped right out of the Prime games - but hey, that's a good thing!

If they make it like MP3 but swap dull gameplay for action gameplay, it'd be perfect.

I never beat MP3. No motivation.

lynta 21. June 2008, 23:21

Mp3 was one of the best games ever: best controls, awesome action, hard puzzles, and just... just knowing its a woman youre controlling

Spook 23. June 2008, 14:44

Hard puzzles in Metroid Prime 3 (sorry, but MP3 for me it's just NOT that game P:)? Like which one? I can't think of any 'hard' ones...
BTW, why is it that most aliens in video games are insect-like?! What's with the 'bendy' legs? Why can't they just be ugly beings who stand on two STRAIGHT legs like humans do? Why insects? WHY?!

Ace Jon 23. June 2008, 20:02

So you have a natural fear of them.

Spook 23. June 2008, 21:57

Not fear... just tired of seeing similar characters in alien-based games... One would think they'd have more imagination...

Robbie 24. June 2008, 10:27

I hate how they are trying to make this into a 360 experience. Everything that gets said about this game makes me want it less and less.

Big dawg 24. June 2008, 10:33

you're in the minority then. why wouldn't you want better graphics & the option for voice chat?

Ace Jon 24. June 2008, 17:17

Yeah. The only worrying thing is that character art for Mr Ford there.

seaempty 24. June 2008, 19:13

I'm with moirob on this one - the more I see this game, the less I want it. It's gone from mysterious to in-your-face in a matter of weeks. That's not a bad thing per se, but I do get the impression that the developers are trying too hard.

Leaking this manual kinda emphasizes that to me. I really hope I'm proved wrong and it's amazing.

Ace Jon 24. June 2008, 20:59

I'd say they're new to the marketing thing, but from the three-second clips we've seen and the technical demo, I'd say they're onto a good one.

Big dawg 24. June 2008, 21:53

agreed ace.

Anton 25. June 2008, 04:47

Spook: get spore when it comes out.

Robbie 25. June 2008, 06:42

I'm not really buying their marketing approach of hiding the game in a 360 shell.
But tf they had it at e3 and it comes back positive gameplay aspects (not just shooting but some nice puzzles thrown in) then I'd be all for it.

It's good to see developers pushing the Wii's power for better graphics, as long as the gameplay and fun isn't taken away from the game in that process.

Spook 25. June 2008, 15:17

We'll just have to wait and see...I'm sure they'll unveil something more official at E3... They are, after all, driven by the 'unauthorized' leaks...

Captain, I don't think I'll get Spore (since I'm not a fan of simulators), but I did find this comic by 2P Start! quite funny: http://www.2pstart.com/2008/06/18/not-much-of-a-stretch/
