We can't bake enough DSi

, ,

If you're ready to get your hands on your pre-ordered DSi, then you should be fine... but for those of you who are planning to wait for Santa Claus to make the miracle happen in Christmas, Nintendo UK has a message for you: BUY EARLY! Here's an extract from Nintendo UK's general manager, David Yarnton's interview with The Times:

I always advise people to buy early. One of the things that people don't seem to understand is that factories are producing constantly; they don't peak and trough. So we're producing product all the time, but then everyone wants it all at the one end of the year. It's just so hard to try and keep up.

So, there you have it. Expect the same Wii-like mayhem if you're planning to get your DSi 'at the last minute' during the holidays.

PS: I found the image too funny to pass on; apparently it IS a part of the DSi warnings. Now, I shouldn't microwave my DSi? Really?Homer: Doh!

So its cool to microwave my DS? I didnt see a warning otherwise. This must be something new to the DSi...

In before "will it blend"

Chas4 3. March 2009, 16:02

it can cause radio interference if you use your DSi near a microwave

Spook81 3. March 2009, 16:07

Maybe someone filed a complaint that their kid microwaved their DS and it didn't make it, even though it wasn't on the warnings. monkey

Agh! I want a DSi but I want it at a discounted price. I was sorted as GAME are doing a trade-in-your-old-ds-for-half-price thing, but if I need to preorder, I don't want to lose my current DS Lite yet!

Spook81 3. March 2009, 17:37

Why not? Do you use the GBA slot? As for the trade-in program, I don't recall if you needed to pre-order the system for them to apply the 'discount'... You probably would get more than GBP75 if you sell your DS, though...

Ace Jon 3. March 2009, 17:41

Sorry, didn't make it clear: I plan to trade in my DS for the DSi, but I want to do that on release day, not when I preorder. If I do it when I preorder, there's a period of time with no DS at all and I am a DAILY DS USER! D:

Spook81 3. March 2009, 17:48

Ooooh, OK... Well, then I guess you're 'covered'... I mean, it would be just plain dumb to ask for the trade-in DS when your DS Lite is not even at the store yet... Pre-order or not, the logical mechanics would be to trade your DS in and pay off the balance at the moment you pick up your new DSi. (GAME, if you're asking for the used system BEFORE you deliver the new one, SHAAAAME ON YOU!)

ive preordered my dsi from game and ive got the trade in your ds lite offer ! i asked em and they said bring it in when you come and collect the dsi  sooo that means ive got my ds lite till the 3rd of april then its upgrade time :D

Spook81 3. March 2009, 20:36

See Ace? You can take advantage of the trade-in deal and still get to play DS up until the very moment you get your new DSi.

webbstar 3. March 2009, 20:51

yup

kawaiipikachu 3. March 2009, 22:37

Rats i wanted to see what a melted down Stopgap looks like .
Well im supose that the lithium ion battrey could explode & damage the microwave so thats a good reason .
Well the Japanese Wii instructions got some pretty weird warnings & i thought the Japanese were smart .

Chas4 3. March 2009, 22:43

Every culture is a bit different show the directions have to be a bit different. Every part of the world people under stand things differently.

Spook81 3. March 2009, 22:49

So that in the bottom of the ocean does not mean that you shouldn't fry your DSi in a microwave, but that you shouldn't connect it to your TV while tuning channel 000. o_O

Ace Jon 6. March 2009, 18:37

Preordered! Also got a further £14 off because I traded in CoD:WaW DS (poor game... I got it for the wifi but it wasn't enough).

So that's... £61 for a new console. Not bad.

It'll be further reduced when I trade in the Opera browser!
