Nintendo of Europe have announced the sales figures for the Christmas period, and what joyous reading it makes!
- Almost 200,000 Wii consoles were sold in the UK.
- The total number of Nintendo DS units sold in the UK in December topped 500,000 making it not only the best selling console of any kind in the UK this Christmas - but the best selling console of any kind in 2006.
- 1.7 million DS units were sold across Europe during December making it the best selling games console in Europe across all formats, both in December and 2006, by a substantial margin.
- Over 700,000 Wii consoles were snapped up across Europe in December 2006.
- More than 500,000 copies of The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess sold in December, meaning that over 70% of Wii owners purchased this game.
- 320,000 copies of Wii Play sold to date, accounting for 45% of all Wii owners.

all strong numbers, too.... DS is a monster. They need to bring some of ther learing software from Japan to the US and EU... salesplosion!
