Strike A Match [+UPDATE]

, , , ,

Our friends over at WiiDs.co.uk have posted details of the various online modes for Mario Strikers Charged for the Wii. In an interview with German magazine N-zone, Mario Strikers Charged game director, Mike Inglehart, stated that they would be as follows:

  • Friendship: Friendship mode allows you to play with people with whom you have exchanged friend codes with.
  • Regular: In Regular mode, players from around the globe are randomly chosen to compete against each other
  • Regional: Regional mode allows you to play against people who live in the same territory as you do.

Two things I notice - firstly we see friend codes again, but whether this will be console codes, or game codes isn't clear (there is still no clarification on this), and secondly there is no rivals mode, to play against players of equal standards.

I'm not sure if I'm going to get this game. I don't like football (I love it), but didn't play the first game in the series. The online aspect, may just swing it for me, however.

UPDATE: It has just been announced that game will be released in Europe on the 25th May 2007.

The randomized matchups will def. attract those that complain about friend codes.

I wasn't all that impressed with the gamecube version when it was released (it seemed a little *too* erratic for my taste), however that was just a first impression and I'm confident on this game being a big improvement to that anyways. Look forward to renting it!
