Last two months I spent most of my time in a small recording studio, working on a new CD with my band Aletheia. It'll be a collection of 6 tracks, named "On The Other Side". Here are some photos from studio and one of our songs (two of them are in English).
I'm proudly presenting my song "The Light Will Remain" from mentioned CD.
Enjoy.
Mr. Veno Dolenc is my friend and a man of many talents: he is a great poet, a songwriter, an arist - painter, ilustrator ..., and 20 or so years ago he was the leader of one of some legendary groups in Slovenia named SEDMINA (check them on the web, you won't be sorry!). Groups like SEDMINA, KLADIVO, KONJ & VODA, BEGNAGRAD, ALETHEIA... are (were) the representatives of so called "acid - folk" or "psychedelic etno" music ... because of some "weird" influences in our lyrics (mostly telling stories about inner or spiritual experiences, mysteries from the past ...), melodies (based on folk, etno, rock music...), and - most of all - in the music and life attitudes, ethic, life style... At the 1st of september this year we did a great show in Žalec. On this live demo video below you can see Veno performing his song Veter beli konj (Wind, the White Horse) together with a brilliant etno singer Klarisa Jovanović (check her site here!). This song was recorded for the first time with mentioned group SEDMINA in 1979 or 1980 (sorry Veno, a long time since ...). In case you can find a vinyl LP "Melita in Veno Dolenc: SEDMINA" on eBay or somewhere else, it's worth to buy it (do not mind a very high price for the original edition ...).
HOSTAGES Robi Podpečnik (guitar, vocals), Alen Nikolič (bass, vocals) and Matjaž Mastnak (drums, vocals) are the members of one the most perspective punk / rock / grunge / ska ... groups in Slovenia: HOSTAGES. Go ahead, boys!
In march this year my friend Srečko Lavbič passed in a terrible train accident. For more than 30 years he was one of my best friends and he was also a great guitar player, a member of my band Kladivo, konj & voda, and one of the best music composers I've ever met. A month or so after he passed, I asked his wife Nevenka to borrow me his 30 - years old guitar for one performance. She said yes (for many performances!) ... So now I'm proud (and honoured as well ...) to play a brilliant 30 years old Yamaha FG - 180-1. It's priceless and it sounds really great after all these years!!! And whenever I play it, the smiling face of my friend appears in front of me ... like he's with me. And he is: in my heart.

This Old Guitar (John Denver)
This old guitar taught me to sing a love song It showed me how to laugh and how to cry It introduced me to some friends of mine And brightened up some days It helped me make it through some lonely nights Oh, what a friend to have on a cold and lonely night
This old guitar gave me my lovely lady It opened up her eyes and ears to me It brought us close together I guess it broke her heart It opened up the space for us to be What a lovely place and a lovely space to be
This old guitar gave me my life my living All the things you know I love to do To serenade the stars that shine From a sunny mountainside Most of all to sing my songs for you I love to sing my songs for you Yes, I do, you know I love to sing my songs for you
After a long, cold, lonely winter the spring is finally here! Do you feel it? Do you feel love all around? Well, I do.
Today
Today, while the blossoms still cling to the vine Ill taste your strawberries, Ill drink your sweet wine A million tomorrows shall all pass away Ere I forget all the joy that is mine, Today
Ill be a dandy, and Ill be a rover Youll know who I am by the songs that I sing Ill feast at your table, Ill sleep in your clover Who cares what the morrow shall bring
I cant be contented with yesterdays glory I cant live on promises winter to spring Today is my moment, now is my story Ill laugh and Ill cry and Ill sing
Today, while the blossoms still cling to the vine Ill taste your strawberries, Ill drink your sweet wine A million tomorrows shall all pass away Ere I forget all the joy that is mine, Today...
