Superstition and cola

So I was really thirsty and decided to go down the hall to buy a can of Coca Cola from the vending machine. I've noticed that prices are usually a lot better in the vending machine than the mini bar of a hotel. Something like $2 in the vending maching and $4 in the mini bar.

On my way down the hall I passed by room 1666 and thought that the next time I would like to stay in room 666 instead. At the end of the hall, next to the ice machine where there usually is a vending machine, was a big, empty spot. Thinking that perhaps that machine is on service or is being replaced I went up a floor (perhaps there is only one machine on every second floor), but no. Empty space and a wall socket.

Then I thought that why not look at room 666 while getting a can, so I went down ten floors (17-10 is 6 because Americans are allergic to floor 13). The doors of room 664 and 665 where facing each other. The next pair of doors where 667 and 668. This floor had no room 666. Nor vending machine.

So I went down to the lobby and went to the lobby shop and found it devoid of drinkable beverages. The fridges were almost completely empty, save for some sport drink and fruity water.

All in all quite depressing excursion. I took a Pepsi max from the mini bar and contemplated what would happen if hotels treated wine as they treat Coca Cola/Pepsi.

- Can I have a glass of Shiraz?
- Is Riesling ok?
