Olgita`s modest notes!

Interesting bushes

Walking with Savaya today I`ve noticed bushes with a strange white things... not flowers, not berry... or maybe they are seeds??? I don't know what is this but looks so nice.. like little snowballs!

Прогуливаясь с Савушкой, я заметила около дома кустарник вот с такими странными штуками... Вроде не цветы и не ягоды..., а может это семена...? Вообщем, не знаю, что это, но выглядит забавно..., как комочки снега!

Who is that???;)Parking for strollers

Interesting - the "thing" you found :D

ellinidata 12. November 2009, 16:03

interesting and pretty...
usually they say the colored red are poisonous,
I wonder if the white ones are eatable by birds... I know you don't know much about it so never mind me, I am just thinking in writing

PainterWoman 12. November 2009, 16:07

They look like marshmallows with a tiny chocolate dot to me. :D

angel292005 12. November 2009, 17:06

How cute.. They do look like snowballs. Very pretty.

Nerak 12. November 2009, 17:55

sarcoptes 13. November 2009, 01:21

Ah, beautiful  These are Snowberries (Symphoricarpos rivularis) My parents have had a bush in their garden since I was a kid bug You can read more about the family here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Symphoricarpos
I love your nature photos as always Olga  Some birds eat these berries, but NEVER eat them yourself

L2D2 13. November 2009, 03:39

I knew it was berries but never seen that plant before. Nice.

KYren 13. November 2009, 04:22

Linda I was thinking about you when I said horticulture expert. :D

L2D2 13. November 2009, 04:41

poison sumac berries turn red, then a deep purple, Kiran, when they are ripe. They are tall shrubs. I have two growing along my fence. They have very beautiful fall color---all shades of red.

L2D2 13. November 2009, 04:46

Our poison sumac looks different from those pictures. Maybe I will take some pictures tomorrow.

Thank you! Now I know that those "things" are berries

Olgita 13. November 2009, 11:20

Olgita 13. November 2009, 11:20

Pam, what a nice imagination you have!

Olgita 13. November 2009, 11:24

  Nice looking baby snowballs :D

PostmanPechkin 16. November 2009, 16:22

О! У меня где-то фотка есть про этот кустарник.
Это ягоды такие на кустах. Если на них нажать, то они лопаются забавно.

FXM256 20. November 2009, 03:15

They are pretty and I would much rather have them than poison sumac nearby. :left:

MrLeffe 20. November 2009, 18:43

Olgita , Roy was right it is that plant . I have them in my garden.

and no one is eating them not even the small animals

Olgita 20. November 2009, 20:04

Is it the tree???

MrLeffe 20. November 2009, 20:22

No, These are bushes they don´t get very high
The tree with berries is called wild ash. The birds love the berries and at this time of the year it is good food for them.
