KOLBASTI - the name of dance which is so popular now in Turkey! Most of young people in schools and universities make their own Kolnasti band to dance and ejoy!

Doesn`t it look like modern hip-hop a bit!?

The routs of the dance is from the Black Sea part of Turkey - Trabzon, Samsun. The music being played is typical music that is always played to accompany this dance.
When I watch how people dance it and hear that music I want to start jumping too!

КОЛБАСТЫ - название трецкого народного танца, истоки которого можно найти на Черноморском побережье Турции - Трабзон, Самсун. Танец безумно популярен в настоящее время среди турецкой молодежи! В каждой школе или университете создаются свои группы. Музыка, которая сопровождает видео, является основной темой для данного танца.
Немного на хип-хоп смахивает, на правда ли?
Когда смотрю, так и хочется впляс пуститься в припрыжку!

Holiday in Antakya

Antakya, Turkey

This year we decided to spend our holiday only in Antakya. My husband had only 1 week off so it was nice to spend all the time with our Turkish family!

What can I say... It was wonderful holiday! We visited lots of places and met almost all our noisy Turkish realtives. We left Antakya 2 days ago but I already miss that place and parents. You know it is a kind of paradise for me - fresh vegetables and fruit, fresh air... Ahhh...

Most of the days we spent with my husband`s parents as they didn`t see me for 1 year. We went to the sea side several times, had a barbecue with turkish kebab and just had a real rest!

We took lots of pictures and I chose the most interesting. You can see them here.

В этом году мы решили провести весь отпуск в родном городе. Так как времени было в обрез, было здорово побыть в родителями моего мужа, а также насладиться любимыми падушками дома!

Отпуск удался... Мы посетиле все места, как и планировали, съездили пару раз на море, на пикник, а также увидились практически со всеми шумными родственниками!

Всего несколь дней назад мы вернулись оттуда, а уже скучаю... Не знаю, что меня туда так тянет... Свежие овощи, фрукты, свежий воздух... Ах...

Antakya - the center of Hatay and city we live in,
Антакия - центр провинции Хатай, наш родной город,

Samandag - a small city at the sea shore where native people like to come for a picnic but it is impossible to swim in the sea there as it is always stormy,
Самандаг - небольшой поселок на самом берегу Средиземного моря. Место для купания не пригодно, так как все время штормит, но закат там обалденный!

Harbiye - a small town near Antakya where there are lots of waterfalls and places to have a barbecue,
Харбие - 10 минут от Антакии. Место с небольшими водопадами. Здесь в выходные народ устраивает пикники.

Iskenderun - a port city,
Искендерун - ближайший город - порт

Arsuz - summer houses city, people do not live there usually but have house near the sea to spend time in summer, not touristic place though.
Арсуз - город, где народ приобритает летние домики на море. Здесь есть более менее приличные пляжи, хотя, место не туристическое.

So here is my small post about Istanbul.
We should take 2 planes to get to our Antakya so before the second plane to Antakya we had some hours to walk around! We decided not to spend that time in the airport but to have a walk in Istanbul. We went by bus to the well known place in Istanbul - TAKSIM. There are lots of shops, food and people!

Итак, сперва небольшой пост о Стамбуле.
Чтобы добраться до нашего города Антакии, нам лететь двумя самолетами (Москва-Стамбул, Стамбул -Атакия). Между самолетами есть 5-6 часов, так что мы решили погулять немного по Стамбулу. Прямо из аэропорта за 10 лир можно доехать до известного места в Стамбуле - ТАКСИМ, где много людей, еды и магазинов. Фотки в альбомах и видео для вас, мои дорогие!

Bus trip to Taksim

Taksim is very long street and you sometimes there is no enough energy to get back! So in the end of the street you can catch the old tram to get back to the beggining of the street!

Таксим - очень длинная улица. Порой нет сил, чтобы вернуться обратно после долго путешествия. Для таких случаев по улице проходит старый трамвайчик, на котором можно вернуться оборатно в начало улицы!

Sunset in SAMANDAG
There is the sea shore not far from our town. About 20 km... In spite of BAD BAD BAD road we got there some days ago to have dinner and watch sunset. This sea shore is wild...no tourists there and that`s why I love it!

Noting has changed since we were here 1 year ago!

Noisy relatives, hot weather, fresh air, lots of fruits and deliciouse food!

Не было времени заглянуть в Оперу, так как я нахожусь в отпуске на турецкой Родине моего мужа. Ничего особо здесь не изменилось за год. Те же дома, деревья, замечательная погода, громкие родственники, свежий воздух, фрукты и овощи!

Eurovision - Turkish Party

Some of you maybe know that Eurovision song contest will be in Moscow this year! On Friday we were at the great Turkish Party devoted to Eurovision! Unfortunately we will not be able to go to the main Eurovision contest so it was nice to see a part of that event!

I watched that contest on TV every year and it was really interesting for me to see that in real. A Turkish star - Hadise sang 3-4 songs, then some other countries came to wish good luck her!

I really enjed to spend time there! As if I visited small Turkey for a while!

All drinks were free (beer, juice and other). We also got some T-shirts with picture of Hadise, hats and Turkish - Russian flags!

Наверняка большинство из Вас уже в крусе, что Евровидение в этом году пройдет в Москве! По чистой случайности мне посчастливилось попасть на турецкую вечеринку, посвещенную Евровидению, где выступала Хадисе, которая будет представлять Турцию и еще несколько стран пришли пожелать ей удачи!

На главный концерт на попасть не удасться, так что взглянуть хотя бы на часть евровидения было приятно, так как мы с мужем смотрим это конкурс каждый год, с тех пор, как познакомились!

Бодрый вечерок удался. Нам раздали футболки, кепки, флажки и бубны... Турцекое пиво текло бесплатной рекой во всех барах!

По пригласительным также разыгрывались призы... Мы, конечно же, ничего не выиграли!

My husband is back from Turkey again!

This time he didn`t bring too much food. Just some special things that you can find only in Antakya and of course SPICES. Spices are very important in Turkish cuisin! So with some of these staff we had a kind of Turkish breakfast!

As if I teleported to Antakya for some minutes...
И снова муж вернулся из поездки в Турцию. В этот раз чемодан был намного легче. Я попросила привезти самое необхоимое. А самое необходимое в турецкой кухне - это специи и еще пара вкусностей, которые можно найти только в Антакии.

Dry hot pepper, mint and summak.

This is "chokelek". When I came to Antakya first time I couldn`t even smell it! But now... I cannot imagine Antakya breakfast without this snack. It is made of milk... I have no idea what does it taste like... I ca say that it is a kind of cheese... Usually we eat it with olive oil and bread. Sometims we add it to a special salad with tomatoes, cucumbers and pepper.

Это "чокелек". Сделан из молока, а точнее, наверное, из йогурта... Что-то среднее между сыром и творогом... Когда я впервые попала в Антакию, я не могла переносить его запах. А сейчас не могу себе представить завтрак в Антакии без этого продукта! Обычно его крошат на тарелку и заливают оливковым маслом. Инода мы добавляем его в салат из помидор, огурцов и перца.

Antakya kake. Has very special taste... Awwww.. I wish I could bake it myself. I used to live in Turkey for 2 years... Learnt how to cook some food but still need to learn MORE... Especially from my mother-in-law...

Кяке из Антакии. Что-то похожее на булочки... Немного пресные, можно есть со всем на завтрак.
Хотела бы я научиться их готовить сама... Прожив 2 года в Турции я кое-чему, конечно, научилась... Но еще столькому надо научиться, особенноу моей свекрови!

Topic of the day today is TEA!

Turkish people like drinking tea very much! There is a kind of tea tradition after a good family dinner. Wherever you go in Turkey, tea will be offered as a sign of friendship and hospitality. Turkish tea is typically prepared using two stacked kettles called CAYDANLIK. Water is brought to a boil in the larger lower kettle and then some of the water is used to fill the smaller kettle on top and steep several spoons of loose tea leaves, producing a very strong tea. Tea is drunk from small glasses to enjoy it hot in addition to show its colour. And don`t forget sweets of course!

Сегодня я поведаю Вам о турецких чайниках!

В Турции очень любят пить чай! Даже в магазине или на рынке тебе могут предложить стаканчик чая, пока ты выбираешь покупки. Особенно популярно устраивать чайпитие после долгого семейного ужина, когда собирается много народа. обычно чай разливают в маленькие прозрачные стаканчики. Чай готовится в "двухэтажном" чайнике - ЧАЙДАНЛЫК. Сверху - заварка, снизу - кипяток. Чай в таком чайнике получаестя восхитительным! Турецкий чай очень крепкий, так что, когда вы просите официанта НЕКРЕПКИЙ чай, не забывайте добавлять слово ОЧЕНЬ!

По-турецки эту будет звучать так: "Чок ачык чай".

Кстати, еще они некторые чайники называют САМЭВАР!

Some useful information: The production of tea in Turkey mainly started in the early years of the Republic along the eastern Black Sea Region. Many of the tea plantations are centered around the town of Rize, and from the Georgian border to Trabzon, Arakli, Rize, Karadere and Fatsa (near Ordu), reaching in some places 30 kilometers inland and reaching the height of around 1000 m. In 1947 the first tea factory was built in Rize and in 1965 the production of dried tea reached to the level of domestic consumption.

... I also asked Selim - my husband to take some photos of the sea when he was in Samandag. Samandag is a city on the Mediterranean sea shore, just 20 km far from Antakya... We used to have family picnic there every weekend...

On Sunday my husband came back from Turkey! He got new visa and visited his (our) family in Antakya! It was a really BIG surprise for me when I opened his suit case and found there... FOOD! It was full of TURKISH FOOD that my beloved mather-in-law cooked for me! My favourite Turkish food!

So I am free from cooking for about 1 month!

My hubby was crazy... He had to pay 100$ for extra weight at the airport!

By the way... On our way home we met a girl in the bus who asked us how to get to the Underground station... We showed her the way, helped to buy ticket and talked a little.. She is from USA - Boston, traveled to Italy, Switzerland and now she`s come to Russia!

I was so excited and wanted to help her so much that I forgot to ask her name... So silly...

Anyway I hope she will have great time in Moscow and St.Petersburg...

I like such kind of interetsing meet...

В воскресенье из Турции вернулся мой муж. Он получил новую визу и навестил свою (нашу) семью в Антакии. Безумно была рада его возвращению! Тем более, что, открыв чемодан, я обнаружила там беcценное сокровище - аккутартно упакованные пакеты с едой, которую для меня приготовила любимая свекровь! Все мое самое любимое!!! Прощай, готовка на целый месяц!!!

Муж был вне себя от "радости", когда ему пришлось заплатить 100$ за перевес...

По дороге домой из аэропорта, в автобусе мы встретили девушку-иностранку, которая никак не могла справиться с русским турникетом на входе в автобус. В процессе нашего общения выяснилось, что она из США - Бостон, путешествует по миру. Была в Италии, Швейцарии и теперь приехала в Россию. Мы помогли ей добраться до метро, купить проездной и объяснили, как добраться до остановки, где находтся ее отдель...

Я была так озадачена, что забыла даже спросить, как ее зовут... Надо же! Люблю такие случайные всречи... Надеюсь, она проведет время в Москве и Санкт-Петербурге, куда она собиралась отправиться после, с пользой!
