Get ready for Bloodhound.PDF.6 (Trojan.Pidief.E).. Symantec Def

There is a security issue with Adobe Reader and Acrobat 7, 8, 9. This security issue would allow a door to running malicious code on your computer system. Adobe IS working on a patch but it will be a while. They have spoken to Symantec (Norton Antivirus Company) and Symantec has named the infection “Trojan.Pidief.E” in its virus database. Your Antivirus will update and start to watch for it but in the mean time you should disable “JAVA” in the preferences of your Adobe program.

IMPORTANT: Do not open PDF attachments from people you do not know!! I know that some of you also like “preview” mode on your email… that will also be something that would work against you because if your computer “previews” it… you OPENED it just the same.

HERE’S HOW YOU DISABLE JAVA-SCRIPT IN ADOBE:
1.Either open a PDF that you have already or go to Start/ programs/ adobe/…
2.Once the program is open, at the top click on EDIT and choose PREFERENCES at the bottom of the list.
3.Click on JavaScript on the left side and then UNCHECK “Enable Acrobat JavaScript”. That’s it…click OK and close.
